Sylveon (Japanese: ニンフィア Nymphia) is a Fairy-type Pokémon introduced in Generation VI.
It evolves from Eevee when leveled up while knowing a Fairy-type move and having high friendship.
(Specifics may differ in past games. Refer to Game data→Evolution data for these details.)
It is one of Eevee's final forms, the others being Vaporeon, Jolteon, Flareon, Espeon, Umbreon, Leafeon, and Glaceon.
Biology
Sylveon is a quadrupedal, mammalian Pokémon covered with pale cream-colored fur with pink feet, ears, and tail. It has light blue eyes, long ears with blue interiors and thicker fur, a tiny nose, two stray tufts of fur on top of its head, and two pointed teeth which can be seen when it opens its mouth. There are two bows on its body: one at the base of its left ear and one at its neck. Each bow is pale cream with a pink center and trails a pair of ribbon-like feelers. The feelers are pale cream and end at the tips with a pink stripe, then a dark blue stripe, and then a light blue color. It has slender legs with small, three-toed paws and a fluffy, slightly curved tail.
Sylveon's ribbon-like feelers emit a soothing aura that erases any sense of hostility, enabling it to stop fights instantly. When hunting, it swirls its feelers as a distraction while the aura weakens feelings of hostility in its prey, then it pounces on the victim. It will also wrap its feelers around its Trainer's arm as they walk together, which allows it to read their feelings. When a fight breaks out between Sylveon and Dragon-type Pokémon, Sylveon will bravely charge at them even if they are much bigger than itself; in Galar, this feat is told as a fairy tale.
From Generation VIII onward, Sylveon is the only known Pokémon that can have Pixilate as an Ability.
Evolution
Sylveon evolves from Eevee.

Evolution data
Since Generation VI, Sylveon evolves from Eevee when leveled up while knowing a Fairy-type move and having at least two levels of affection. Since affection was folded into friendship in Generation VIII, it can evolve if its friendship is at least 160 instead. Eevee will evolve into Sylveon even if the evolutionary conditions for it to evolve into Espeon or Umbreon have also been met. Eevee will never evolve into Sylveon while near a Moss Rock or Ice Rock, or in Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee! or Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, as Sylveon is not present in those games.

In the TCG
- Main article: Sylveon (TCG)
Other appearances
Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS/Wii U
Sylveon appears as a trophy in both versions of the game.
Trophy information
Sylveon is one of Eevee's various final evolutions. It has a lot of great attacks to use in battle, but it actually seems to be a peace-loving sort of Pokémon. Case in point, it can completely stop the flow of battle by moving its ribbonlike feelers in a way that charms its opponents into not wanting to fight anymore.
Pokémon UNITE
- Main article: Sylveon (UNITE)
Sylveon is playable through obtaining a Unite License. It is a ranged attacker that starts as Eevee, which evolves into Sylveon at level 4.
Trivia
- Sylveon is the only cross-generational evolutionary relative introduced in Generation VI.
- Sylveon is the only Pokémon introduced after Generation IV that is obtainable in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX.
- Sylveon is the only Eeveelution to be introduced in a generation that did not introduce any other Eeveelutions.
- According to Junichi Masuda, Sylveon was the first Fairy-type Pokémon to be created in-game.[1]
- In Pokémon Scarlet and Violet prior to v2.0.1, Sylveon was unable to learn Mud-Slap via TM, despite its pre-evolution being able to.
- Sylveon is the only Eeveelution to not evolve by using an item in any games, as Leafeon and Glaceon can evolve by using a Leaf Stone and Ice Stone respectively in Generation VIII onwards while Espeon and Umbreon evolve using a Sun Shard and Moon Shard respectively in Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness.
Concept and development
Sylveon was designed by Atsuko Nishida.[2][3]
Origin
In contrast to the rest of the Eeveelutions' pointed ears, Sylveon's ears are large and rounded, giving it a resemblance to rabbits. Fairies were thought to be particularly active under the light of the full moon; because of this and the rabbit association, Sylveon could be based on the mythical Asian moon rabbit. The moon rabbit is often portrayed as a companion of the Chinese moon goddess Chang'e, who is frequently depicted wearing a robe adorned with many ribbons, which is likely referenced with Sylveon's feelers.
Sylveon may also be based on Kaltes-Ekwa, a moon goddess in Ugrian mythology who shape-shifted into a hare. In addition, its cries depicted in New Pokémon Snap are similar to those of a cat, and it might be based on the fictional cabbit hybrid.
Name origin
Sylveon may be a combination of sylph (elemental of air commonly identified with fairies) and eon (an immeasurably long period of time, possibly referring to how long evolution takes naturally). Eon is a suffix all Eevee evolutions share and was Eevee's English prototype name.
Nymphia may be derived from nymph, a class of female nature deities in Greek mythology commonly associated with fairies.
