Clefairy, also known as Blockhead Clefairy (Japanese: 鈍間のピッピ Blockhead Pippi) by other Pokémon is Isamu Akai's first Pokémon and Pikachu's cousin. He is stupid, loudmouthed, crass, vulgar, and generally rude. Clefairy often acts selfishly but occasionally shows some redeeming qualities. Mostly he's a trouble maker that wins battles through luck or trickery. Clefairy always has stupid ideas, which enrages his trainer. Clefairy's character is the opposite of Pikachu's which often causes the two to fight. His attitude also causes fights with Tyrogue, which is very concerned about training and battling.
Clefairy has evolved into Clefable, but has since changed back to the Clefairy stage as Pokémon can reverse the evolution process in the Pokémon Pocket Monsters manga series.
Trivia
- Clefairy appeared along with Isamu and Pikachu in the anime episode Lights, Camerupt, Action!. The three characters appeared in one of Ash's favorite films. In this episode its Japanese voice actor is 山口眞弓 Mayumi Yamaguchi.
- Clefairy and Pikachu are stated to be cousins. This is actually possible according to video game canon as Clefairy and Pikachu both belong to the Fairy egg group. However, this was not known when the manga was originally published, as Pokémon Gold and Silver had not been released yet.
- Clefairy has evolved into Clefable. However, because Pokémon can devolve in the Pokémon Pocket Monsters manga series, he has since devolved back to the Clefairy stage.
