Blue (game)/Yellow

This is a list of the teams of the rival in Pokémon Yellow. As this game uses non-traditional starter Pokémon, the rival will start with Eevee. Eevee will evolve into Vaporeon, Flareon, or Jolteon, depending on the results of two early battles against the player: the first battle at Professor Oak's lab in Pallet Town and the optional second battle on Route 22.

• Vaporeon: the player loses against the rival at the lab and either loses or skips the battle on Route 22. (Two losses or one loss/one forfit.)
• Flareon: the player wins against the rival once at either location, and loses or skips the other battle. (One win/one loss or one win/one forfit.)
• Jolteon: the player wins against the rival at both locations (Two wins.)
