Trivia
- Azurill and Wynaut are the first two Pokémon that can only be bred if the parent holds a certain item.
- Azurill is the only Pokémon whose type changes completely upon evolution, excluding Eevee.
- Azurill is also the first and currently only Pokémon whose gender ratio (75% ♀ / 25% ♂) is different than that of its evolved form (50% ♀ / 50% ♂). This causes 1 in 3 female Azurill to evolve into male Marill. It is unknown if this is a programming error, or a reference to real-world animals that can change gender.
- Azurill is the only Template:Type2 that can evolve into a pure Template:Type2 without the use of a Water Stone.
- Azurill is often incorrectly attributed the Water-type.
Origin
It appears to be a mouse combined with a beach ball.
Name origin
Azurill's name is a combination of azure, referring to its color, and rill. Its Japanese name seems to be a corruption of its evolution's, Marill's, name.
