Content dispute in the Paldea section of "Pokémon world in relation to the real world" page

Hello, I am requesting a moderator review to an issue with the user "Namornen" in terms of their edits of the "Pokémon world in relation to the real world" page.

I have been trying to argue that Gibraltar should be kept as a valid reference for Cabo Poco. There already was discussion on this before in 2022 here:[1] and it was approved by other editors as a valid reference in line with the standards of the page. I have rewritten it as a possibility, like the other entries in the page, considering it would be difficult getting developer confirmation or hard direct evidence in game. Namornen has deleted my replacements of the reference to Gibraltar on September 7th [2] and 8th [3]. I wanted to avoid an edit war and recreated a discussion here: [4]. Another editor agreed with my points, and after a week waiting for discussion, I re-added the reference on September 18th. Namornen then removed it [5].

I argued the following combined would favor of Gibraltar's inclusion as being a possible basis to Cabo Poco (Namely Nemona's section of the town):

• Based on Cabo Poco's location in the southern tip of Paldea is in line with Gibraltar. Nemona's house is on the east side of Cabo Poco; Gibraltar is on the east side of the cape.
• Nemona herself not being a Paldean native. I have not stated that she is from Galar. Based on other entries, I do not think a hard reference like that is necessary for the standards of this page.
• Nemona's character trait of code switching by speaking both English and Spanish which directly reflects Gibraltarian culture and the Llanito dialect. Although it's not solely Nemona's, as generic NPC's have spoken Spanish phrases, the way Nemona speaks is a defining character trait for her as she has done this a lot in her dialogue.
• Gibraltar's fame internationally, based on history and mythology.
• References like the Poco Path lighthouse having similarities to Europa Point Lighthouse (Its color, lantern room's shape compared to Chipiona, its weather vane). I believe Europa Point is a reasonable additional candidate alongside Chipiona Lighthouse (the tallest lighthouse in Spain).
• I have stated that many places in Paldea and in Pokemon in general have been an amalgamation of many places. And I think it stands to reason Gibraltar is a possible reference.

Generally, I have argued the following:

• I've stated that on the top of the page "This article contains fan speculation. There is no solid evidence for or against some parts of this article." I agreed that it shouldn't be a wild speculation, and there should be valid basis in the reference. I have given reason for Gibraltar's inclusion that isn't wild guessing, however Namornen has not accepted these points it seems that he wants more solid evidence.
• It seems the evidence required for the Gibraltar entry is held to a higher standard than for other entries on this page. Unova Route 4 and the World Trade Center for example.
• I have not stated that Gibraltar is the only valid reference. I have stated that a place could have multiple references. for example: Mesagoza in Paldea or Ballonlea in Galar.
• Namornen has rejected all of my points saying they are not solid enough for the page.

He has then removed a valid reference for the Poco Path lighthouse (Chipiona Lighthouse) and switched it to something less known after I mentioned Europa Point Lighthouse as being a valid reference. Due to the above, and the removal of the Chipiona Lighthouse as a valid reference, it seems that the editor will not compromise. I feel that my contributions are being dismissed without sufficient consideration, and I am concerned about the fairness of the discussion.

Just letting you know, we are aware and the issue is under discussion. For now as an interm measure, the article is protected but we will make an announcement once a final decision is made on how to proceed, since it isn't the first time that this article has become a flashpoint. 4iamking 18:10, 21 September 2025 (UTC)

The current wording

Are you aware you just claimed that a Great Ball in a hill is apparently a reference to the UK now? Speculation is fine when it has minimum sense, but this is just ridiculous.

And why only Gibraltar, then? Why not also La Línea de la Concepción, Cádiz, Algeciras, etc.? If you had actually read exactly what I wrote on Talk, you wouldn’t have done what you did. And by the way, I was about to add them in one of my own edits as a compromise. Very poor move. Namornen (talk) 09:53, 22 September 2025 (UTC)

For what it's worth, I didn't claim anything; I simply restored old information that was previously removed. The reference in my opinion isnt that farfetched either UK has "Great" in its name (Great Britain) and the colours of a great ball closely resemble the colours on the Union Jack. Some speculation is allowed given the nature of the article but regardless of that for now we are still discussing how to best proceed with that article. In general I'd recommend seeking consensus with other editors on the talk page before removing anything, especially on an article as subjective as the one in question. 4iamking 10:41, 22 September 2025 (UTC)

Restoring that is the same as claiming. If you read what’s been written on Talk, you probably wouldn’t have posted that, since even the person who started that speculation has already dismissed it as a stretch. Setting aside how wild the speculation is, Great Balls appear in plenty of areas across Paldea, not just Cabo Poco, and in Japanese it’s originally "Super Ball", not Great Ball, which makes it even less likely.

I’m open to speculating and including locations, but please lets keep the feet on the ground. I’ll try to find a compromise on Talk, which despite what the user said I was always open, he just didn't wrote before asking a compromise. Namornen (talk) 10:55, 22 September 2025 (UTC)

I honestly don't have any strong feelings either way. The reason that I reverted the edit is because in a content dispute like this, its better to err on the side of including information, until such time as consensus dictates otherwise (should that happen) rather than removing it. 4iamking 11:31, 22 September 2025 (UTC)

Legends Z-A Preorder Bonus Image

Hi there! Saw that you recently reverted my addition of a citation needed tag to https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/List_of_other_event_distributions_in_Generation_IX#Pok%C3%A9mon_Legends:_Z-A_Trench_Coat_&_Pants and referred to the image to the right (https://archives.bulbagarden.net/wiki/File:ZA_Trench_Coat_and_Pants_event.png) ...which I thought I'd checked, but missed that last line of the fine print somehow, definitely my bad!

That said I did want to point out that all the official sources I can find (e.g. U.S. Gamestop page) now seem to be displaying a different image, which appears to be very close to the same...except that that critical line (the "Items can also be obtained through normal gameplay") has been removed, and "Gamestop Exclusive" has been newly stamped in the top-right corner. The only place I was able to find the original image we've got on the wiki is in a Facebook post dated July 26th (https://www.facebook.com/story.php/?story_fbid=756474870364325&id=1000800545516400), but as I don't see that image being displayed anywhere current, I'd be kind of worried it was a misprint or mistake that won't be honored.

Any idea where you uploaded the wiki image from (I notice it was also uploaded July 26th) and if it's a different, current source I missed? Other thoughts on how to handle this? (I'd love to find out I'm missing something obvious again, just worried about misleading myself and other readers with regards to preorder decision-making). Heya, first off i just reformatted the link in your comment because dropping in a full resolution 1920x1080 pixel image into a talk page conversation is a bit obnoxious, hope its oki. I'm starting to perceive this wiki as hostile

1. I wasn’t going to add anything again after being reverted. Why protect the article as if I were some kind of vandal?

2. I haven’t done any edit warring , do you know the 3RR rule? I haven't broken it.

3. One of your moderators/friends even reverted me using one of my own quotes that had a typo in English. I’m not sure if that was to highlight my bad English, mock me, or what exactly.

Let's unpack , because there is no reason for this to get heated. The measure taken are not against you specifically, they were done proactive protective measures since there was a dump of new illicitly obtained information that should not be added to the page as our policies around leaked material forbids it; doesn't matter who adds it. I protected it primarily as resources will be inherantly focused to the rush of adding all the new Z-A content, which also increases content moderation pressures especially at a time like this, and even more so since the games have leaked in the way that they have. Once this dies down it so does the protection for that specific page.

I didn't issue you any warning because quite frankly there was no reason or justification to do so. If we felt like there was anything we had to convey to you specifically beyond what was said when the edits were undone, we would have used your talk page for this. As for Anza quoting your "bad English", I can't speak for them but I don't think it was done with malice against you, to me it seems it was just to highlight his point in relation to that statement. 4iamking 10:45, 14 October 2025 (UTC)

If you're asking about the YouTuber I think thats beyond what we would normally cover. We do cover significant websites in the fandom but generally dont dedicate pages to individual members except in the rarest of notable cases. If your talking about the webshop thats definitely not something we'd want to cover and if your referring to something else maybe say what it is. 4iamking 21:21, 12 December 2025 (UTC)

"Introduced in" VS. "introduced with"

Your reason for reverting my recent edit on Template:Mega Evolution is that "introduced in" is more misleading compared to "introduced in". I'm not sure I get it; my understanding is that here, "introduced in" means that a Mega Evolution was introduced in the game. Am I wrong? Machampionship (talk) 16:58, 16 December 2025 (UTC)

There was some discussion since the Mega evolutions that came in Mega Dimension don't actually require Mega Dimension to access (Baxcalibur mainly). "Introduced in" has the connotation that it's part of the DLC, but really it was just made available alongside the DLC, but isn't actually part of it. Shiny Pokémon images in the sleep style page

There are versions of the profile images of Pokémon in Pokémon Sleep featuring their Shiny counterparts. However, a good amount of them go unused in this wiki. Is there a way to possibly integrate the normal and Shiny Pokémon profile pictures in the Sleep Style Dex page? Machampionship (talk) 13:03, 19 December 2025 (UTC)

Nihil Light

Since the Mega Zygarde section of Zygarde's page is stuffed with images, I figured I'd upload an animated png to reduce the amount of files needed. Would you mind replacing them with this, please? Machampionship (talk) 19:13, 21 January 2026 (UTC)

I'm fine with adding the animation, but I kinda do feel like most of the images in the section do have a place. The aiming and charging pictures in my opinion don't show much and i'm partial to removing those but the other ones are useful as stills in my opinion to show the anatomy of its cannon. 4iamking 19:25, 21 January 2026 (UTC)
