Please feel free to edit this article to add missing information and complete it.
Reason: Gates to Infinity and Rescue Team DX information needs to be covered. These two games will likely need separate articles due to assignment changes and the lack of a gender system.

Sentret's timid personality

(Japanese: ()調(ちょう) tone) is a property of Pokémon in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time, Darkness and Sky, as well as the WiiWare games, used to determine the set of dialogue a given recruited Pokémon will use when spoken to in dungeons and the overworld.

Many species of Pokémon are assigned to multiple groups depending on the gender and form of the individual. The hero, partner, temporary companion Pokémon and Special Episode protagonists each use their own separate sets of dialogue that override their species' usual tone, and some select species of Pokémon have an entirely unique tone.

This system is distinct from the usage of species-specific lines of dialogue for recruited Pokémon in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team and Blue Rescue Team and Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon.

The terminology used on this page is found in the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Explorers of Darkness: Official Extra Guide released in Japan, which has not been localized. Note that all translations are unofficial.

Docile tone

The (Japanese: ()(なお)()調(ちょう) Docile tone) is assigned to a large group of Pokémon, many of which are not fully evolved.

Unique tones

The following Pokémon, nearly all of which are Legendary or Mythical, each use entirely unique tones that are simply named after the species. Out of the games that use the tone system, Arceus is only implemented in the WiiWare games.

In the Japanese releases of Explorers of Time and Darkness, Cresselia will only use its unique tone while accompanying the hero and partner during the first visit to Dark Crater; after recruitment, it is assigned to the Calm tone. In the international releases of Time and Darkness as well as all releases of Explorers of Sky, Cresselia will always use its unique tone.
