The third set in the Pokémon Mezastar Double Chain series was released on November 22, 2022. It consisted of 70 tags and was the twelfth set overall.
Information
Legendary Pokémon Xerneas, Yveltal, and Eternatus were the featured species for this set. Together with the Colossal Pokémon Regigigas, they were a group of Grade 6 Superstar Pokémon capable of attacking twice in succession with the Double Move mechanic. Other high-grade Pokémon with powered-up mechanics included Grade 6 Venusaur, Charizard, Blastoise, and Orbeetle, which could all Gigantamax; a Grade 6 Marshadow, which had access to its exclusive Z-Move; Grade 5 Regieleki and Regidrago, which could both Dynamax; Grade 5 Flygon, Tangrowth, and Vikavolt, which could all summon Super Tag partners; a Grade 5 Abomasnow, which could Mega Evolve; and Grade 5 versions of the lake guardians Uxie, Mesprit, and Azelf, which could all use Chain Attacks.
This set comprised 67 standard numbered tags plus three promotional tags that depicted the Paldea first partner Pokémon Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly to commemorate the recently released Pokémon Scarlet and Violet main series titles. These Pokémon could be encountered and captured in the same way as other Pokémon from the set. Sprigatito, Fuecoco, or Quaxly could also randomly add themselves to a player's Support Pokémon roster during Get in Battle! mode. Five Superstar Pokémon from the third Super Tag set could also be encountered and obtained as Legacy tags from December 27, 2022: Dialga, Palkia, Torterra, Infernape, and Empoleon.
Players who used a Memory tag at any time from the set's launch until February 1, 2023 would earn a Weekly Stamp. Using a Memory tag with the same profile in a subsequent week would earn players another Weekly Stamp. Players accumulating two stamps would unlock a down coat Fashion Item to customize their avatar; four stamps would unlock a Superstar Sensor; five stamps would unlock a Melmetal Emblem; six stamps would unlock another Superstar Sensor. Players with the Melmetal Emblem would then have a chance to add the Hex Nut Pokémon to their Support Pokémon roster during Get in Battle! mode. Players with Memory tags could also add up to three new Pokémon to their Partner Pokémon roster: Aron, Litwick, and Dreepy. Each one could be evolved up to their final stage by earning in-game Star Points. Two campaign periods were held over the course of the set, during which players would earn double Star Points. The first was held between December 29, 2022 and January 11, 2023; the second was held between January 26 and February 8, 2022. People with a Mezastar Club account could redeem digital tickets at any time for the duration of this set and scan them on Mezastar machines to unlock exclusive features. These included a Support Pokémon Ticket for a Pidgeot and a Present Ticket to unlock a set of Fashion Items comprising gaming headsets, gaming tops, gaming bottoms, and gaming shoes. A limited Present Ticket for a set of Christmas tree-themed Fashion Items could be redeemed through the club between December 12 and 25, 2022.
The Trainer and Battle lineup for this set included two returning Trainer classes in Fishing Girl and Video Creator, two new Trainer classes in Conspicuous Trainer and Shop Attendant, and a new Star Trainer named Ishuta. Mezastar Club members could redeem Battle Tickets for each opponent and challenge them to unlock new customization options for their avatar. A special Battle Ticket was subsequently available through the club and could be used on machines between December 11, 2022 and January 5, 2023.[1] This ticket allowed players to battle Santa Sakuraus, a festive persona adopted by Mezastar Navigator Sakura. The distribution of this ticket coincided with the Present Battle from Santa Sakuraus campaign, a ranked event in which the players with the top 100 scores could win a certificate. Participants who defeated Santa Sakuraus would unlock a Mezastar TV hold-up sign Fashion Item for their avatar. Two limited Trainer Tag Battles were also available to play later into the set's duration as part of the Mezastar TV Tag Battle Rush! campaign. Players could challenge Mezastar Navigators Masato and J between January 7 and February 8, 2023 and Mezastar Navigators Ai and Sakura between January 21 and February 8, 2023.[2] Players who defeated Masato and J would earn a pair of red and dark blue Mezastar Navigator cap Fashion Items, while those who defeated Ai and Sakura would earn a pair of light blue and orange Mezastar Navigator cap Fashion Items. Mezastar Club members could also enter a lottery to win one of twenty copies of a Mezastar Box signed by the four Mezastar Navigators; a link for an application form would appear on the Mezastar Club event page upon registering the defeat of both Trainer Tag Battle teams. The application period was open between January 21 and March 8, 2023; prizes were intended to be shipped by mid-April 2023.[2]
