::I would think that any connection is tentative at best. The name "degu" may end with a "U" but that doesn't mean that it's in any way related. Echidnas and echinoderms start with the same root (meaning spiky), but that doesn't make them related or named after one another. Heck, in actuality, there's a mythological Echidna whose name comes from the Greek word for viper. Way unrelated.

I have been noticing a lot of fanart (custom sprites) like Mr. Mime with a broom. To me this is unacceptable for an encyclopedia. And it comes to my attention that with the Notched-Eared Pichu that I have a feeling someone is going to end up making a sprite for it. So please be aware if someone ends up making a sprite for this pichu and tell me if you do. We should not have such thing happen. This is an encyclopedia and this isnt the right place to be showing of skills at making custom sprites. So please be aware of this sprite and any other sprite someone makes. --Landfish7 23:37, 18 January 2009 (UTC)

Gen II sprites
I don't know anything about fixing sprites or anything, so I might be out of line here, but the Crystal regular sprite is still showing Pichu's tail horizontal after it bobs down to the vertical, so it looks like a black T. Also, in its regular Gen II backsprite, the small patch enclosed by its tail and its body isn't transparent. I don't know who's meant to fix those kinds of things, and it isn't me, but I just thought I'd point that out. ~Oz

:I went ahead and looked at em all anyway, but they're all questionable. We can technically see all of what we've ever seen of Diglett, I've never seen Shellder or Horsea floating, Ledyba can fly but is not doing so in this sprite, and Cleffa, Igglybuff, and Sunkern are missing just a sliver of their bottoms. :Checking through the category, there are others, Pikachu and Eevee, that are part of evolutionary family listed in it. Though I'm thinking the category is referring to the special spiky-eared Pichu which doesn't evolve, while Pikachu and Eevee refer to the partner starters from the let's go games, in Pikachu's case there's also the cosplay and ash hat Pikachu.Animaltamer7 (talk) 06:28, 19 March 2020 (UTC)

If the Pichu from Pokémon Box (the one with surf) evolves into Pikachu, and it is bred with Marill with Surf, will the resulting Pichu have Volt Tackle if Pikachu has a Lightball? Optimus35Talk | DP Can you see this? 03:32, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

Hm... it should in Emerald. Will the baby have Surf, though? No. TTEchidna 04:27, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

I'm sorry, I'm not sure anyone will understand that. I realize you're dyslexic, but there are things like spellcheckers even if you have a disability.--Loveはドコ? (talk contribs) 05:27, 25 October 2008 (UTC)
I would think that any connection is tentative at best.
I do admire the fact that you pay attention to caviomorphs like the degu. But capybaras kick more ass. TTEchidna 06:03, 25 October 2008 (UTC)

you hear dee-gu and pee-cu so its not that they look the same you hear it. anyway I was noteing it,not say it must be put the pichu page. sorry for makeing you cross.GoldsWigglytuff 17:15, 26 October 2008 (UTC)

Come on, everybody is excited over the new Notched-Ear Pichu, so just let people write some things about it.Mijzelffan 16:35, 14 December 2008 (UTC)

May I ask something?

Why are you calling it "Notched-ear Pichu"? That's not what it is. A notched-ear is an ear that has a cut in it. Kinda like the groove in the fin of a male Gible. That just looks like some extra hair is growing off of it. The term is incorrect. It should be called "Spiked-ear Pichu". --ケンジガール 01:12, 14 December 2008 (UTC)

The Japanes Source, Bulbanews, and Serebii are all calling it Notch-eared. Perhaps it's ear was hit by an attack or something, if you can read Japanese, why not check out the site? Aura-Knight 01:15, 14 December 2008 (UTC)

I Have A Bad Feeling This Is Coming Up

That wouldn't go here anyway, it would go on the Notch-Eared Pichu's page. The Dark Fiddler - Nos hablamos? 23:38, 18 January 2009 (UTC)

Good point, sorry, i had actually just relized this before you said that. --Landfish7 23:41, 18 January 2009 (UTC)

Hold on a second, the page is blocked so for now i HAVE to leave it here, sorry --Landfish7 23:52, 18 January 2009 (UTC)

I agree. I could remove the custom sprites, but some people wouldn't be too happy about that. --ニョロトノ666 23:54, 18 January 2009 (UTC)

I know what you mean, that twosome arent always on the bright side of taking them away. But now i relize that the sprites do make the site look a little better. Before i was a member i thought those sprites were really kewl but for now lets not worry about them too much. --Landfish7 00:01, 19 January 2009 (UTC)

The sprites merely to show off the unique qualities of a certain anime Pokémon. A Bulbasaur without a heart shape on its head is not May's Bulbasaur. A youthful looking Scyther is not Tracey's Scyther. That's my logic anyway. --ケンジガール 00:28, 19 January 2009 (UTC)

Really for now, unless they make a new policy lets just not worry about custom sprites. --Landfish7 00:51, 19 January 2009 (UTC)

Um...then why did you bring up this point in the first place? And um..the notched-ear pichu was made a long time ago...and uh...we do not have a mr. mime with a broom...we took it off months ago.--Tavisource 08:04, 19 January 2009 (UTC)
OH...and another thing...first, kenji-girl is right about a bulbasaur without a heart not being may's bulbasaur. Second...many people has disagreed with these sprites and caused havoc, but eventually understood it's true meaning and apologized...I'm sure you will soon understand. Peace--Tavisource 08:06, 19 January 2009 (UTC)

At first I disagreed with the sprites but Martonimos convinced me otherwise --Landfish7 14:44, 19 January 2009 (UTC)

Another Notched-Ear Pichu Question

Are we sure that the notched-ear Pichu is female? It refers to it as a female multiple times on the page, and if it is can someone provide a link to where it says that?--XNovaXx 00:35, 27 April 2009 (UTC)

Just check this page, and then the translations of the lyrics (which go about the notched ear pichu): "女のコなんだもん! Onna no ko nandamon! Is a girl of course!" Mijzelffan 20:26, 30 April 2009 (UTC)

Who can put Notched-ear Pichu in the sprite table? Abcboytalk 10:38, 31 July 2009 (UTC)

TTEchidna most likely will. The template will need to be modified, and rather than break things (although it could be fun), I'll nominate the guy that built it. —darklordtrom 10:58, 31 July 2009 (UTC)

Edit Request 2

I have noticed that Seedot and Pichu are the easiest Pokemon to capture in Pokemon Ranger. But I played the game and Magikarp has the same easinesst. Can anyone fix this? Please and thank you.--Branfili 05:30, 14 November 2009 (UTC)

~Oz

Trivia

"Pichu is the only Pokémon with a base stat total of 205 that is not based on a cocoon." - Am I the only one who finds this trivia bit ridiculous? We have really too much ridiculous and unneccessary trivia bits on our Pedia. I think it's time to cut them out. --Maxim 10:01, 23 December 2009 (UTC)

Umm..

Innocent curiosity. How come there is no Gen. IV art for Pichu up? --Darknesslover5000 22:47, 7 January 2010 (UTC)

Any Johto Pokémon that had Gen III art did not receive an art upgrade. That goes for Espeon, Umbreon, Togepi, Misdreavus, Murkrow, Elekid, etc. --ケンジガール 22:50, 7 January 2010 (UTC)
That's Blasphemy right there, pure and simple.--Darknesslover5000 22:55, 7 January 2010 (UTC)

Wi-Fi Trivia

The Wi-Fi eventfor pichu is available in America too, not just Europe. Should this be fixed? Poisson14 21:02, 5 March 2010 (UTC)

Trivia Omission

The sixth trivia bullet mentions its Gen II back sprite showing its whole body, and that it "shares this trait with Togepi." It does not mention that Ditto's entire body is shown in its Gen II sprite as well (Spr_b_g2_132.png). - unsigned comment from IWannaBeTheVeryBest (talkcontribs)

Then I guess we should add that. —darklordtrom 05:40, 9 December 2010 (UTC)
Quilfish's too. (Spr_b_g2_211.png) Should this be mentioned in the Trivias of all of these Pokémon (Pichu, Togepi, Ditto, Quilfish)? - unsigned comment from IWannaBeTheVeryBest (talkcontribs)
I think that we probably have too many now, and the whole lot can be removed. --SnorlaxMonster 22:27, 15 December 2010 (UTC)
Four is too many? I dunno... If it were something like ten or fifteen, then maybe, but only four? - unsigned comment from Missingno. Master (talkcontribs) 22:49, 15 December 2010 (UTC)
Maybe four is OK, but five would be too many. Take into account that this is also excluding Flying-type Pokémon and levitating Pokémon. --SnorlaxMonster 22:54, 15 December 2010 (UTC)

Okay, I'm doing a sprite project (url=http://bmgf.bulbagarden.net/blog.php?u=43658), so I'll be looking at every single one. If I find more, I'll list them here and someone can decide whether to list them or not. --IWannaBeTheVeryBest 00:38, 16 December 2010 (UTC)

I went ahead and looked at em all anyway, but they're all questionable. We can technically see all of what we've ever seen of Diglett, I've never seen Shellder or Horsea floating, Ledyba can fly but is not doing so in this sprite, and Cleffa, Igglybuff, and Sunkern are missing just a sliver of their bottoms. That is all of them.

Due to this, I say there are too many and we just remove the trivia. Besides, it's sprite trivia which is supposed to be prohibited. --SnorlaxMonster 01:10, 16 December 2010 (UTC)

What the heck.

"Art by Ken Sugimori from FireRed and LeafGreen". wut? For Generation II Pokémon? Marked +-+-+ 18:45, 6 September 2011 (UTC)

Some of the Gen II Pokémon had their art redone for FRLG, along with the Gen I Pokémon. Those Pokémon (mostly) then didn't get redone art in generation IV. Werdnae (talk) 20:57, 6 September 2011 (UTC)

"Pichu is the only Generation II Pokémon to be playable in the Super Smash Bros. series, though many others appear from Poké Balls."

So what? Can't the same thing be said in regards to Lucario & Greninja for gens 4 and 6? Unowninator (talk) 18:39, 6 July 2016 (UTC)

"This trivia is notable, it's been a while since melee whereas Brawl and 4 are recent making Lucario/Greninja unnotable," is what the history says. --Super goku (talk) 21:59, 6 July 2016 (UTC)
*checks history* .... I asked this twice?! Ughhhh, what is wrong with me? Unowninator (talk) 00:49, 7 July 2016 (UTC)

Spiky-eared Pichu

Why is the Spiky-eared Pichu on the infobox? It already has its own page. It's a rare variant which only exist in the HG/SS games. It appeared in movies, but yet anime/movie variant aren't featured on other infobox (cloned pokemon, Orange Island variants, pink pokemon, etc.). Jeangabin666 (talk) 11:04, 25 September 2016 (UTC)

All in-game forms of Pokemon are listed in their species' infobox, including both Spiky-eared Pichu and Cosplay Pikachu. It doesn't matter if those forms have appeared in all games or only one; if they exist in a core series game, they are listed in the infobox. Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 15:19, 25 September 2016 (UTC)

regional number

According to this image found on the official japanese Pokémon website, Pichu's (regional?) number is 24. MannedTooth (Talk) 19:49, 25 September 2016 (UTC)

We don't know how that works. Alola's regional dex appears to be similar to Kalos's. Tiddlywinks (talk) 19:57, 25 September 2016 (UTC)
So we're waiting for the game to actually come out before adding anything related to Pokédex numbers? MannedTooth (Talk) 20:14, 25 September 2016 (UTC)
If that's what it takes to know this stuff, yes. Tiddlywinks (talk) 21:04, 25 September 2016 (UTC)

Being Specific

If I remember correctly, the NPC in New Bark Town revealed that Professor Elm discovered Pichu was Pikachu's Pre Evolved Form, not Pichu's existence.--Benayla (talk) 03:40, 13 January 2017 (UTC)

Just to answer the question and clarify for future inquiries, the NPC states that Professor Elm was the one who discovered that Pikachu was an evolved Pokémon. The fact isn't directly relevant here and is already correctly stated on the professor's page, where it's more relevant.--Wowy(토크) 08:17, 13 January 2017 (UTC)

USUM Pokédex

Pichu's Alola Pokédex number was changed between SM and USUM. For other times that Pokédex numbers have changed, there are special ways to edit that into the infobox (for instance: 'hdex' and 'hdex6' for changes between RSE and ORAS). Is there a way to do that for USUM as well? 10:12, 24 January 2019 (UTC) - unsigned comment from Erezushi (talkcontribs)

Category: Not part of an evolutionary line

Why is this listed as a Pokémon that's not part of an evolutionary line? It evolves into Pikachu. Am I missing something here? HaxAras (talk) 05:30, 19 March 2020 (UTC)

Checking through the category, there are others, Pikachu and Eevee, that are part of evolutionary family listed in it.
