HP

Does the HP of Shedinja ever raise above one with leveling? - unsigned comment from [email protected] (talkcontribs)

Nope. It stays 1 forever. --Zeta 19:07, 7 September 2006 (UTC)

The article says the only way to know Shedinja's HP IV is finding out its "brother" Ninjask IV, but couldn't we figure it out by knowing Hidden Power type and power? Gabriel Rocha (Diby esp) 23:49, 2 June 2009 (UTC)

I think you are confusing HP and HP. — THE TROM — 23:52, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
But isn't HP determined by IVs such as HP's? The Dark Fiddler - You enter a poorly lit room... 23:57, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
Hidden Power's type and power depend on every stat IV. If you know the Attack, Defense, Special Attack, Special Defense and Speed IV, then knowing our Shedinja's Hidden Power type and power would take us to an obvious conclusion of its HP IV, wouldn't it? Gabriel Rocha (Diby esp) 00:43, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
No, it wouldn't. The formula for calculating the strength and type of Hidden Power relies only on the IVs modulo 2 and modulo 4. For example, if you could change a Shedinja's HP IV from 1 to 29, the type and power of Hidden Power would not change. This is because 1 and 29 are congruent modulo 2 and modulo 4. For more information, see the "Number of possible Hidden Powers" section of the Hidden Power calculation article. Ali 247 17:53, 17 August 2009 (UTC)

Best type?

Due to Shedinja's ability, Wonder Guard, is there any combined set of types that would leave it immune to damage (not counting status-affecting moves and weather)? Casmith 789 15:18, 17 August 2007 (UTC)

Dark/Ghost and Ghost/Dark, the types of Spiritomb and Sableye, combine to have no weakness (except when Foresight, Odor Sleuth, and/or Miracle Eye are used). Neither of them have Wonder Guard, though. TTEchidna 03:09, 18 August 2007 (UTC)
Thanks, after finally catching a Spiritomb I figured this out for myself! Casmith 789 08:46, 8 September 2007 (UTC)

maybe it would be more usable with the Focus Sash?- unsigned comment from Logicalfighter666 (talkcontribs) there would be no such thing as a super effective attack.

It's completely impossible to be immune from damage, no matter what one does. Even a (hacked, let's say) Dark/Ghost-type with Wonder Guard would be hurt by weather attacks. Since you can't combine Air Lock and Wonder Guard, it is impossible to not take any damage. LordArceus 14:40, 19 December 2008 (UTC)
Double Battle. But you are right that it is impossible to be immune from damage: status damage. The Dark Fiddler - Nos hablamos? 14:43, 19 December 2008 (UTC)

Poke ball

Ive tried evolving a nincada twice in my diamond game and it only gave me a shedinja the second time after id bought a poke ball, in both instances i had a spare space in my party. Perhaps you only need a poke ball in diamond/pearl?- unsigned comment from Itxi (talkcontribs)

I've always done it with an extra Pokéball. --DarkfireTaimatsu 08:59, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
I was wondering because in the trivia section it states that one isnt needed. --Itxi 09:02, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
Then where does the Pokéball in my inventory go once I've obtained Shedinja, hmm? --DarkfireTaimatsu 09:09, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
Presicely, I just thought it might be better to start a discussion on it first than just deleting the text. --Itxi 09:11, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
You're wrong. I just tested it out. I got a Nincada in my party with an extra slot. I didn't have any Poké balls. When it evolved, I still got a Shedinja. If a Poké ball dissapears when you get a Shedinja then you're being ripped off. --ケンジガール 09:20, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
What game are you playing? I said that i tried it with a pokeball and without and it only works with. This is on Diamond --Itxi 09:28, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
This is Emerald. I don't know. Maybe the mechanics are different in in Diamond. But you definetly don't need a Poké Ball in Emerald.
Hopefully that edit covers it all :) --Itxi 09:36, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
We may want to clarify that the Poké Ball needed must be an actual Poké Ball and not any other type of Ball, eg. Great Ball, Net Ball, or Dusk Ball. ESeamus 07:41, 14 March 2008 (UTC)
I was bold and edited it. Lady BlahDeBlah 11:29, 27 December 2008 (UTC)
I think that maybe Eseamus was right, because a friend of mine tried it with a great ball, and it didn't work. Dolphins are awesome (and Vulpix are too) 19:16, 5 October 2009 (UTC)

Recent Edit

Is the whole thing about the hole in the back being visible needed? I mean, of course it's going to be visible, your looking at it from a behind perspective, AND it is a video game, they don't steal your soul. --Midnight Celtic 18:39, 1 December 2007 (UTC)

Well, how it appears in the anime would be way more realistic. You're right, if you die in a bloody video for example, or get hurt, you're perfectly fine in real life. So I think that trivia is pretty pointless, it's not like it's a goof. TheBlazikenMaster 11:20, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
I think it's wrong because you have to look insde the hole, not look at it from afar. the back sprite shows it from afar, whereas if you wanted your soul to be stolen, you would have to put your eye up close to Shedinja... XD. I'll remove it. TESHIGIGAS 11:34, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
I removed it weeks ago... somebody must have added it again...Crystal Lucario 11:50, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

Breeding

If you breed a Shedinja with a Ditto, will you get a Nincada or another Shedinja? It doesn't say anywhere on the page. Since Shedinja is just Nincada's old exoskeleton brought to life, it would be weird if it could produce a whole new Nincada on its own. - Buddy Christ 22:44, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

Last time I checked Shedinja doesn't have a gender, and I somehow doubt that a Ditto can breed the genderless as it has gender last time I remember. You can prove me wrong, it has been a long time since I last checked. TheBlazikenMaster 22:32, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
Ditto can breed with the genderless, otherwise we'd have no Phione, no baby Porygon, and a heck of a lot of problems. It's the genderless that can't interbreed. Ditto makes it all possible (unless you're in the No eggs Group). It results in a Nincada, same as if you bred the Ninjask. The only odd thing is... Shedinja is in the Mineral Group... Nincada and Ninjask are in the Bug... TTEchidna 02:47, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
Ditto is genderless(random comment).Blastoise RULZ 21:07, 15 September 2008 (UTC)

Scrappy or Foresight will onlywork with Mold Breaker

As they aren't super-effective even after Foresight (and Fighting wouid even be "resisted"). --Gorebyss 08:21, 30 December 2008 (UTC)

Focus Sash

what would happen when focus sash is equipped to shedy? Atomix26 19:08, 26 January 2009 (UTC)

It can withstand one hit that would otherwise faint it. — Laoris (Blah) 19:17, 26 January 2009 (UTC)
Yes, since Focus Sash is only one use. But if you equip Focus Band, then it's possible it could survive for a lot longer. Of course, it's equally possible it'll die on the first hit.--Celebi96 00:40, 30 June 2009 (UTC)

Gender

When I use the name rater, despite being genderless, Shedinja will have a gender when we write a new nickname. Wouldn't that be a nice information for trivia? Gabriel Rocha (Diby esp) 02:19, 5 June 2009 (UTC)

I have confirmation of this... If someone can determine where the gender comes from this would be great. At the moment I'm picking the same gender as your Nijask. — THE TROM — 03:24, 6 June 2009 (UTC)

Flail and Reversal

I know it's impossible for a Shedinja to have either of these moves without hacking, but supposed one was hacked to have either of these moves... would it have 20 Power because it's at max HP, or would it have 200 power because it only has 1 HP? --Derian 16:36, 2 November 2009 (UTC)

That's probably the reason why it's impossible. Valorum27 00:04, 6 May 2010 (UTC)

Edit request

→Pokedex entries

|heartgolddex={{tt|ハネを うごかさずに とびまわる。からだの なかは からっぽで いきを しない ふしぎな ポケモン。|It flies around without moving its wings. A strange Pokémon that doesn't breathe and has an empty body.}}

梅子 17:54, 6 November 2009 (UTC)

Small edit requests. First, can you make a ==Pokedex entries== thing over the anime Pokedex entries, and second, can you put a comma in between body and giving? Please and thank you. Littlmiget123 17:27, 13 November 2009 (UTC)

Breeding generation 4

I've managed to teach my nincada/ shedinja toxic by breeding from a dustox in emerald. if someone wants to verify this works of generation 4 games, too and add it to the page it'd be nice.

Nincada can learn Toxic by TM. TM moves known by the father are passed down to the egg if the egg's species is capable of learning the TM, regardless of whether the father learned it by TM or not. Werdnae (talk) 20:16, 15 April 2010 (UTC)

HP Up

What about with an HP Up?--Dratini Egg 20:18, 23 April 2010 (UTC)

It's HP is always 1, regardless of IV and EVs. HP Ups just add EVs, which are completely ignored for Shedinja's HP. Werdnae (talk) 02:43, 24 April 2010 (UTC)

Shinyness

If this is already in the article, i must not have noticed, but...

-Will a shiny Nincada always produce a shiny Shedinja when it evolves? -If the Nincada is not shiny, is there a chance the Shedinja will be anyway? Flyingtypefan 05:27, 16 May 2010 (UTC)

To answer your first question, yes. A shiny Nincada will produce a shiny Shedinja. It also answers your second question. No. A normal Nincada will never make a shiny Shedinja. Because of identical values and such. I'm not good with that stuff. --ケンジガール 05:22, 16 May 2010 (UTC)

Thanks. It may seem kind of obvious, but i was just checking, because if it were different, it might have been trivia worthy. Flyingtypefan 05:27, 16 May 2010 (UTC)

Can't this fact be put under Trivia? - unsigned comment from Gideon Kreeter (talkcontribs)

Why? The Shedinja will always have the same personality value (therefore same IVs, Nature, Shinyness, etc.) as the Nincada it (sort of) evolves from. Just like any other Pokémon. Werdnae (talk) 04:00, 26 February 2011 (UTC)

Gen IV Poison?

Is Shedinja really immune to Poison damage in Gen IV? Diachronos 18:04, 19 August 2010 (UTC)

Yes, due to its ability. Why? Turtwig's A-B-Cs (talk | contribs) 18:05, 19 August 2010 (UTC)
I think he means Poison status condition. I often use Shedinja and it can be poisoned.--でんのう Zえんし 18:36, 19 August 2010 (UTC)

I don't mean immune to being Poisoned, I mean immune to taking damage after being Poisoned. I was curious because it seems kind of weird for it to be immune to Poison damage without being immune to any other non-super-effective damage. Diachronos 19:20, 20 August 2010 (UTC)

Actually, Poison hasn't been super effective to Bug since Gen I. And furthermore, Shedinja's Ghost type would made it resist Poison.--でんのう Zえんし 19:27, 20 August 2010 (UTC)
Wonder Guard will only protect Shedinja from direct damage. Status ailments (like Poison) and weather conditions will still affect it. --SnorlaxMonster 03:35, 21 August 2010 (UTC)

Halo

Is it me, or in gen III's back sprite, the gap is at the front, and in the gen IV back sprite, the gap is at the back? Shouldn't this belong in the trivia? FrozenStrategy 20:51, 21 August 2010 (UTC)

The gap is actually in the back in both generations, but perspective makes the Generation III halo look wonky. ~ solaris 20:56, 21 August 2010 (UTC)

How does Shedinja learn egg moves?

There are several egg moves listed for Shedinja...but since it is genderless, how can it learn those moves? DisgruntledGoat 23:25, 9 September 2010 (UTC)

Evolve a Nincada that has them.--Cold (talk) 23:49, 9 September 2010 (UTC)

Question

Under the Type effectiveness section, it says that Future Sight and Doom Desire can still hit Shedinja. With said moves now taking type into account, is this still true?--Cold (talk) 23:24, 26 October 2010 (UTC)

No, Wonder Guard blocks it now. Pikiwyn talk 17:23, 28 October 2010 (UTC)

Shedsturdy

Will a shedinja take no damage if it has sturdy as it's ability?

It will still take damage; the term "OHKO" specifically refers to four moves (Fissure, Guillotine, Horn Drill, and Sheer Cold), not "moves that KO with one hit". (Also, it's "its". : P) —hexagonTHEORY 08:44, 13 November 2010 (UTC)
In Generation V Sturdy protects from all moves that would OHKO the pokemon not just those four. But Shedinja would still be knocked out by status damage, weather, recoil, spikes and stealth rock. Pikiwyn talk 08:56, 13 November 2010 (UTC)

Guardian Angel

How does the ability Wonder Guard lend to the concept of a 'Guardian Angel'? I see both have 'Guard' but Wonder Guard refers more to guarding Shedinja, whilst the Angel is a protector of somebody else, yes? Colintron 20:11, 6 January 2011 (UTC)

I agree. --SnorlaxMonster 01:06, 7 January 2011 (UTC)
Well there is still its halo...--MisterE13 01:07, 7 January 2011 (UTC)

Belly Drum

There is a website where you can "hack" certain moves onto a Pokémon that couldn't normally learn it. I was wondering what would happen if you hack Belly Drum on to Shedinja and then try to use it. My guess is that it would fail, but i want to be sure. - unsigned comment from Benboy803 (talkcontribs)

You could have Shedinja mimic Belly Drum without hacking but it would fail, same thing for Substitute. Pikiwyn talk 21:27, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
Ok thank you. - unsigned comment from Benboy803 (talkcontribs)

Trivia

When adding trivia is allowed, shouldn't it be noted that it is (theoretically) possible to make a Shedinja immune to all forms of direct damage? This can be done by done by entering a double battle/triple battle with Staryu knowing Reflect Type and a Shedinja knowing Mimic.

  • Staryu uses Reflect Type. Shedinja, who is slower than Staryu, uses Mimic on Staryu. The foes do anything but faint Shedinja
  • Staryu switches out into Sableye/Spiritomb. Shedinja uses Mimic-Reflect Type on Spiritomb. The foes do anything but faint Shedinja before it uses Mimic-Reflect Type
  • Shedinja is now invincible to any means of direct damage.

And then, Shedinja starts destroying the entire world during the battle. --Enervation 00:07, 7 September 2011 (UTC)

It could be done with any Pokemon. Have a Pokemon use Skill Swap to obtain Wonder Guard, then dothe res. I dont think its notable. XVuvuzela2010X 08:16, 7 September 2011 (UTC)
Actually, you can only Skill Swap Wonder Guard in Generation III. However, you can still Trace it and get similar results. --SnorlaxMonster 10:44, 7 September 2011 (UTC)

1 HP trivia: composed of assumptions?

"If Shedinja obtains Sturdy in Generation V, it can survive any direct attack"

Impossible because:

  • A Pokemon can only have one ability. It cannot have two. For this to happen you would need both Wonder Guard and Sturdy.
  • Trivia implies that this will only be possible if the game introduces two abilities for a single Pokemon.

This is an assumption based on personal thoughts. Its like saying that "if GameFreak introduced this feature, this Pokemon would be the most strongest one in the entire world". Trivia implies that maybe if GameFreak changes its game-engines this is possible. Can Trivia's be composed of assumptions? Blueknightex 11:15, 28 April 2012 (UTC)

You're wrong; Shedinja doesn't need Wonder Guard anymore if it gets Sturdy.--Den Zen 11:22, 28 April 2012 (UTC)
Also, it is actually possible: change Shedinja's Ability with Simple Beam, Entrainment, or Worry Seed, then Skill Swap Sturdy on. --SnorlaxMonster 11:25, 28 April 2012 (UTC)
I interpreted it wrong when I first read the statement. Before Gen V, sturdy only blocks One-hit knockout moves which is not just 'any' attack. However on Gen V, when a Pokemon is brought from full HP to 0 HP, instead of being KO'd it has 1HP remaining instead. In a way it acts like an auto-Endure that is immediately in effect when the Pokemon is brought to battle and has a 100% of working :-) Blueknightex 11:37, 28 April 2012 (UTC)
It would help if that trivia entry was a bit more clearer. Maybe you should put what you explained to me on the article? I can't seem to understand before when I first read it. It might help others understand it better. Blueknightex 11:42, 28 April 2012 (UTC)
Like add to the article what you explained to me here? Blueknightex 11:52, 28 April 2012 (UTC)

Pokeball

Is a pokeball not required in gen 3 or starting in gen 3? ^^I^ rides camels… | love 'em. (T^LK) 00:28, 27 May 2012 (UTC)

It didn't exist prior to Generation III, so only in Generation III. --SnorlaxMonster 15:41, 27 May 2012 (UTC)

Struggle

If Shedinja can still take damage from Struggle, is it the only Pokémon that will always one-hit KO themselves with it? Dimenticare (talk) 18:33, 12 June 2012 (UTC)

Hidden Ability?

I noticed that, when shedninja is attacked by a ground type move, that it says both wonder guard and levitate protected him. Would that make Levitate be his hidden ability? --Kajoman (talk) 16:07, 26 August 2012 (UTC)

That's not what Hidden Ability means. Hidden Ability is an Ability only obtainable in special ways, such as Hidden Hollows and the Dream World. A Pokémon cannot have two Abilities anyway. And the game does not say anything about Levitate when I use it. --SnorlaxMonster 16:22, 26 August 2012 (UTC)

Dragon Rage?

Is the Drgaon Rage trivia correct? Wonder Guard's page says it doesn't block moves "whose types do not come into play for damage calculation".Flicky1991 10:50, 24 November 2012 (UTC)

Hp ups

I just added a trivia that says HP ups have no effect on Shedinja. I don't know how to create a link to a section of a page, so could someone link it to that part of whatever page it's on? Aggron989 (talk) 23:05, 21 December 2012 (UTC)

Just curious: Why did someone remove the aforementioned edit? Aggron989 (talk) 23:09, 21 December 2012 (UTC)
