Plot

The Rising Volt Tacklers are on their way to meet Sohdayo, a former member of the team who left them before Dot joined the crew, in the hopes that he could have information that'd help them track down Entei of the Six Heroes. Unlike the others, though, Mollie seems very irritated at the thought of meeting him and unwilling to believe anything he'll have to say. The Brave Olivine eventually lands at the agreed meeting spot at a savanna. While waiting for Sohdayo to arrive, Liko, Roy, and Dot venture out to see if they can find any Pokémon. At first, they fail to find anything, but soon after discovering an oasis with barely any water left in it, they are suddenly charged at and attacked by a Pokémon that Roy's Rotom Phone identifies as a Farigiraf. By working together, they are able to fight it off, but before they can start wondering why it was so angry, they're approached by a man accompanied by a Wynaut. He starts claiming that they must the rumored secret society that goes around fighting Pokémon, declaring he's got himself a scoop. The group is confused by the sudden claims, but at that moment, Friede shows up, introducing the man as the friend of his whom they were looking for: Sohdayo. When brought to the Brave Olivine, Sohdayo is happy to see his old friends again, though none more so that Mollie. He implies that Mollie used to look different, but before he can go into more detail for the children, an enraged Mollie threatens to send him flying if he says more. While Mollie continues to fume, Sohdayo turns to Friede regarding the thing he wanted to talk with him about. However, before Friede can even start his question, Sohdayo interrupts him, assuming he wants to talk about what he's been up to since he left, and takes Friede with him to continue the conversation elsewhere.

Back inside the ship, Dot shows Liko and Roy a copy of the Occulture magazine, having actually recognized Sohdayo's name from it as a journalist who's written some of the articles on it, including one about Legendary Pokémon. Unexpectedly, Sohdayo himself shows up. Upon seeing them reading his article, he assumes they are fans of his, which Dot admits to, though she gets nervous when he suggests the idea of writing an article about them. Roy attempts to ask him about Entei, but he once again interrupts the intended question and assumes they want to know about the history of the Rising Volt Tacklers. While not what they wanted to know, their curiosity gets the better of them, and they agree to hear him out. Sohdayo proceeds to tell them various tall tales, such as Murdock having once developed a highly popular dessert (which he reveals to have only been popular for a short time and within the airship only), Orla having built a supersonic aircraft that circumnavigated the globe (which she says is untrue, as they'd be flying in it if it did exist), and Ludlow secretly being a superhero with a body of steel (which the children themselves immediately conclude must be false). Reuniting at the wing deck, Sohdayo plans to conclude his tales by telling the children about Mollie. Despite the nurse herself showing up to object to this, Sohdayo shows the children a photo of himself with a younger Mollie, who used to have a completely different hairstyle and, according to him, clung to him all the time and was very demure. Her anger reaching a boiling point, Mollie has her Chansey launch the journalist and his Wynaut into the distance, before leaving in a huff.

Sohdayo soon lands near the oasis and right next to Friede, who's trying to find out the reason behind why a Farigiraf had attacked Liko and the others earlier. The children catch up with them, but Liko's attempt to ask him about Entei gets predictably interrupted, this time by Sohdayo shushing her and claiming that he can hear multiple Farigiraf headed their way. Moments later, the children are surprised to notice that he's actually right this time, as a trio of enraged Long Neck Pokémon charges at them. However, the Pokémon trio's attention is quickly refocused on an incoming Espathra, and they start attacking it, making Dot realize that the oasis must be their territory, explaining why one of them had attacked the group before. Espathra responds to the Farigiraf trio's Psybeams with Psychic; as a result of the clash of Psychic-type moves, a large field of enigmatic energy surrounds the area around the oasis. As the clash continues, the energy causes a part of the rockface above them to break apart and fall, but Mollie, having been altered by the airship's Noctowl, arrives to help and has Chansey smash the falling boulder apart with Tackle. Dot, spotting bubbles rising from the oasis, asks Roy to break the rock resting in the middle of the pond, which he does with Crocalor's Stomping Tantrum. As a result, water starts gushing into the oasis, filling it up to its proper height once more. Friede theorizes that a landslide or alike could've been the cause behind water not flowing properly. With water aplenty now, the Farigiraf and Espathra stop their clash and go to drink together, their turf war now resolved.

Back at the airship, Sohdayo thanks everyone for providing him with plenty of material for Occulture. Liko and her friends address him and finally manage to ask him if he knows anything about Entei. He responds that he's heard of an Entei sighting being made in Olivine City in Johto. Him only now realizing what the group had wanted to ask him about all along leaves the children in an exasperated state. Later, as the Brave Olivine sets course for Johto, Liko asks Mollie if they can believe this information being correct, but Mollie assures her that it is true, based on Wynaut's reaction: the Bright Pokémon has been with Sohdayo for so long that it knows whether he's speaking the truth or not, reacting in a questioning way to any untrue statements and eagerly towards any true facts, such as the info about Entei. Liko recalls that Wynaut had also reacted the same way to what Sohdayo had said about Mollie's past, leaving the nurse blushing in embarrassment. She admits that she used to be naive when she was younger, falling for many of Sohday's untrue claims, though she does recognize that she's not sure if he was teasing her or genuinely trying to teach her.

Later, Dot shows Liko and Roy the newest online issue of Occulture, which features an article about what happened at the savanna, even including nameless mentions of them as children who helped to deal with the phenomenon caused by the clash between Farigiraf and Espathra. Liko and Roy feel happy for Dot to get mentioned in the magazine she loves, though she feels a bit flustered about being brought up in the article.
