Character sections

Please try to refrain from putting in too much fluff in these sections, especially regarding the relationships between characters. In particular, try to avoid the term "best friends", since this can oftentimes be subjective (outside of instances where the characters themselves state it).

Also, statements like "This main character cares for their friends" should also be avoided, since this applies to every main character in the anime and isn't a unique aspect of their respective characters. Similar edits to all of these have been removed in the past on various pages. PokemonMasterJamal3 (talk) 21:20, 16 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

Again, statements like "This main character cares for/is loyal towards their friends" applies to many important characters. This is not a unique attribute. Additionally, several of your edits contain grammatical errors (such as saying "touch by her kindness" rather than "touched by her kindness), so please make sure to review your edits with "Show preview" before submitting them! PokemonMasterJamal3 (talk) 17:05, 26 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
I want to stress this again: Most Pokémon are close to their Trainers. It's a bit redundant to say that every Pokémon belonging to a Trainer is loyal to them, as it's not a particularly unique characteristic by that point. PokemonMasterJamal3 (talk) 19:52, 6 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Tense

When adding new text to a section, please make sure the text's tense is consistent with the rest of the text in the same paragraph. I.e., past tense with past tense text, present tense with present tense text, and so forth. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 21:25, 9 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Trivia

I've noticed in some of your edits you done things like main male/female character, writing it as male/female main character makes sense written like that.--BigDocFan, Junior Admin Bulbapedia (talk) 12:37, 20 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

I notice you've edited someone pages over ten times in the span of a few days. Please add all the info you want to add to the page you want to edit with as little edits as possible to avoid clogging up the edit history of that page. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 18:26, 26 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

The Preview Button

Instead of editing a page several times in a row, try using the preview button to make sure your edit looks the way you want it to. It's right next to the Save Page button. Please try it out, so as not to clog up the Recent Changes. Also, if you want to edit multiple sections of the page, make sure that you click "edit this page" at the top of the page rather than editing it by section. Thanks! --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 17:31, 21 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Thanks

Just wanted to say thanks for adding more information to my page for Murdock's Alcremie, I appreciate it.--BigDocFan, Junior Admin Bulbapedia (talk) 15:01, 26 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Trivia

I've noticed that a lot of the trivia you've added is overly specific, redundant, not notable, inaccurate, or some combination of the four. Please make sure to fully look over trivia before you post it.

Additionally, it would be appreciated if you responded to your talk page posts once in a while. There's been quite a bit of critique regarding your edits on here, yet you haven't responded to any of them. PokemonMasterJamal3 (talk) 15:27, 27 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

I apologizes for not responding to the messages sooner but I understand that I need to respond to your messages and I will make an effort to respond to them as soon as I can. Also, I will make an effort to improve in my editing and do better.--BlueSparkles (talk) 15:50, 27 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
Again, please make sure the trivia you're adding is notable. Ash catching his Generation II/III/IV/etc. Pokémon is not notable, since someone had to be the first one. PokemonMasterJamal3 (talk) 16:17, 8 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
I know I need to make sure the trivia I add is notable, but I thought each one that Ash obtain first in each region was. However, I understand that somebody else has to obtained or caught them first before Ash did.--BlueSparkles (talk) 16:20, 8 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
Just to be clear, I'm referring to the Pokémon themselves. To illustrate the difference:
Ash owning a Gengar is notable since he had never officially owned a Ghost-type before, which is a type that had existed for 8+ generations by that point. However, Ash owning a Staraptor is not notable since the Generation IV anime had very recently started, and Ash inevitably catches Pokémon every generation as the main character (prior to his retirement, that is). PokemonMasterJamal3 (talk) 16:31, 8 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
Okay and thank you for helping me make sure I don't make the same mistakes, which I hope not to do.--BlueSparkles (talk) 16:40, 8 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

Character sections again

I've posted on your talk page about this before, but I've noticed that a lot of the character sections you've worked on tend to:

- Have grammar mistakes.

- Overuse certain phrases (such as "as seen in X episode", "as shown in Y episode", and "through this character's advice/kindness").

- Focus a bit too strongly on the relationships between characters in general (as I've stated before, it's not unusual for Trainers and their Pokémon to be close to each other).

- Repeat the same info across multiple sentences (like this edit I removed, for example, where the previous sentence already talked about her bravery when spurred by others).

I'd recommend trying to vary things up a bit so that it's less formulaic, as well as looking over your edits via "Show preview" first before submitting. PokemonMasterJamal3 (talk) 21:41, 6 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

I understand and I'll work on that. BlueSparkles (talk) 22:42, 6 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
Again, I want to reiterate that Trainers caring deeply for their Pokémon isn't a rare occurence (the vast majority of Trainers do), and vice versa for their Pokémon. Sure, it might be notable if a villain is shown to have particularly strong bonds with their Pokémon, but for heroic characters, it's basically a guarantee that all of them will have close bonds with their Pokémon. PokemonMasterJamal3 (talk) 19:51, 2 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
Right I do get that. I was just making some of them similar to the other main characters with their Pokémon section on their pages that's all.BlueSparkles (talk) 15:31, 3 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
I previously removed this section and explained that Pokémon are often protective of their Trainers and vice versa (thus making it not a unique attribute of Spritatito in particular), but you re-added it without explaining why. Can you please explain why you keep doing this? Similar edits like these have been removed in the past from other pages. PokemonMasterJamal3 (talk) 13:46, 18 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
Okay the reason why I do that is just that I notice those things are part of their character, but now I see that a lot of the characters Pokémon are like that. I will work on making sure not to do that in the future. However, it is good to have other users like you tell and remind me so I would correct my mistakes, and thank you for your help.BlueSparkles (talk) 14:09, 18 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Cerise starters

As we only saw the starter Pokémon briefly under Cerise's care (and he never actually gave any out), I see no point in clogging up his page with separate sections for each Pokémon--BigDocFan, Junior Admin Bulbapedia (talk) 15:51, 6 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

Redundancy

Please try to avoid repeating info multiple times in the same sentence or paragraph. For example, a lot of the info you add to character sections boils down to "X likes doing Y, as seen in this episode where X was shown doing Y." I can understand occasionally citing episodes where a particular trait really comes into play, but I think it's unnecessary to do this for every situation. PokemonMasterJamal3 (talk) 21:49, 9 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Again, please try to work on avoiding repetitive writing. Looking at both the first and second paragraphs in this section, it can be seen that "as seen/shown in Episode X" was used in three sentences in a row for both of them. PokemonMasterJamal3 (talk) 19:22, 25 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Episodic events

I mentioned this before in my "Character sections again" talk page post, but you tend to overuse the terms "as seen in X episode" and "as shown in Y episode". I feel like adding events to character sections after every new episode can be very messy to read and ruins the flow a bit.

I think these sections should focus more on consistently seen character traits that don't need specific episode citations. PokemonMasterJamal3 (talk) 14:04, 13 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Overly specific trivia

Many trivia points you've added are overly specific. If something is unique in a category that includes three or fewer individuals in total, that is not triviaworthy. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 16:25, 21 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Redundant trivia

Please try to avoid making trivia like this. If Dawn is the first main character other than Ash to battle an Elite Four member, she would naturally be the first female main character to battle an Elite Four member by default. It's not really worth pointing out in this instance. PokemonMasterJamal3 (talk) 20:13, 8 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Okay. I'll try my best. BlueSparkles (talk) 00:50, 9 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Speculation and

Hello. I’ve noticed you’ve been making edits like this. Please avoid putting spoilers and unconfirmed information like that, even if it’s hidden. Just wait until the actual episode airs. Ataro (talk) 10:27, 23 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

List of clothing (anime)

List of clothing (anime) already has enough header levels as it is and may end up being split soon anyway, so introducing more header depth isn't helpful here. Landfish7 01:37, 18 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Trivia again

Please make sure to check to see if the trivia you're planning to add is accurate and/or notable.

Looking over some of the trivia you added:

"Roy is the first male main character other than Ash to battle a Pokémon Champion."

Both Kiawe (SM145) and Clemont (JN103) battled Ash after he became a Champion.

"Liko is the first female main character to battle a Pokémon Champion since Iris."

Misty also battled Ash in JN138, and that was only 88 episodes ago.

"Liko is the first female main character to defeat a Pokémon Champion."

Iris is heavily implied to have defeated Alder and Misty did defeat Ash in the episode listed above (his Corphish, granted, but still).

"Liko is the first female main character to defeat a Pokémon Champion on-screen."

Misty defeated Ash, as stated above.

"Liko is the first female main character to battle a Pokémon Champion based on the games since Iris."

Misty battled against Ash, who is based on Red.

"Liko is the first female main character to defeat a Pokémon Champion onscreen, not counting Misty defeating Ash."

I'll admit that Geeta's loss does look worse since her Glimmora lost (whereas Ash was using a Pokémon that he hadn't used since the Battle Frontier Saga). However, the battle was unofficial, it was three Trainers vs. one, and it's unlikely that Geeta was going all out (she used two Glimmet). Of course, you could certainly make a good argument that Geeta should have been able to win regardless, but both battles were ultimately unofficial and not super serious, so it's kinda weird to exclude Misty's win while counting Liko's (or vice versa).

"Liko is the third female main character to battle a Pokémon Champion, first being Iris and second being Misty."

Firstly, this could be more simply written as "Liko is the third female main character to battle a Pokémon Champion, after Iris and Misty". Secondly, while true, this trivia loses its importance after "third", since repeat occurences generally aren't notable unless there's a large amount of time between the two. Coral's Scream Tail

Hi, I'm currently creating a page for Coral's Scream Tail and was wondering once I've created it if you would be willing to lend a hand getting it ready for potential mainspace.--BigDocFan, Junior Admin Bulbapedia (talk) 12:08, 17 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

Long edits

A lot of your longer edits seem to contain quite a few grammatical errors and are worded a bit awkwardly. A few of them have needed to be reworded entirely. Please keep in mind that you don't need to feel pressured to be the first person to add something to a character's history section shortly after an episode has aired; the wiki is a collaborative effort, so someone will likely still get to it at some point. On top of that, I'd like to remind you to try to use the "Show preview" button to review your edits and ensure that they don't contain errors before you submit them. Assuming

On multiple pages you put that Liko's Armarouge would learn Psyshock like it's a fact, unless this was stated as proof and some official source messed up, please don't assume what moves they will or might learn. This is for posting stuff that WILL happen, thanks. Playerking95 (talk) 10:23, 23 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

Trivia once again

Please make sure that the trivia you are adding is actually notable and correct.

Regarding the "Grass/Fire/Water Pokémon that aren't starters" trivia on HZ124 in particular, I don't believe it's particularly notable, since the Pokémon in question have no correlation to each other outside of simply sharing one of their typings with a starter; they're completely unrelated Pokémon otherwise.
