YouTube is an online video sharing platform, owned and operated by Google. The service allows users to upload and view videos, comment on them, and subscribe to other users' "channels". As of June 2025, YouTube is the second most visited website in the world,[2][3] and as of April 2020, over 2 billion users watch over a billion hours of content every day.[4] Due to guidelines introduced to abide by the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), most content related to the Pokémon animated series and its movies is marked for kids, disabling many features including comments.[5]

Pokémon Journeys

For a limited time between March 18 to 31 and April 8 to May 31, 2020, every episode of Pokémon Journeys: The Series (that had aired before that time) was made available on the official YouTube channel of Japan for free[6][7][8].
Pokémon: Indigo League

In response to the continuing COVID-19 pandemic, between April 17 to May 12, 2020, two episodes of Pokémon: Indigo League were uploaded daily to the official YouTube channels of Malaysia, the Philippines, and Singapore as part of the "Home Fun for Pokémon Fans" campaign[9][10][11]. Starting May 12, 2020, two episodes of the Cantonese dub of the series are being uploaded each day to the official YouTube channel of Hong Kong as part of the same campaign[12].

The Pokémon Company Channels
Starting from January 19, 2021, episodes of Pokémon Journeys: The Series were made available on the Pokémon Asia ENG channel. These episodes were released every Friday and operated on a rotation, where the five most recent episodes would be available, with the first five episodes being permanently available. Other official YouTube channels managed by The Pokémon Company would eventually start uploading episodes of Pokémon Journeys: The Series. Later, the channels would begin uploading episodes of other series of Pokémon animated series. Eventually, for unknown reasons, some of the channels would privatize most or all of the episodes of certain series, such as Pokémon Journeys: The Series.
The animated series episodes available on these channels are geo-locked to the regions under the direct distribution of The Pokémon Company, meaning that users outside of the 25 countries where The Pokémon Company retains distribution rights (shown in orange in the map) are unable to view the episodes. In addition, the Pokémon South Asia Official (ENG) channel is further region-locked to the South Asia region.
