Trivia
Wailmer is the largest Pokémon that evolves once.
Origin
Wailmer is, obviously, based on a whale.
Name origin
Wailmer's name is based on whale. Wail may also refer to the sounds this Pokémon may create. Its Japanese name is literally 吠える子, bellowing child, but hoeru is similar in sound to the English word whale, making the meaning of its name whale child. Mer may come from the french word for sea.
