(Japanese: タクト Takuto) is a Pokémon Trainer who competed in the Suzuran Conference.

History

Takuto first appeared in DP183, where he was shadowed. Barry passed him in a hallway and was scared by the way he came off. In DP184, while Ash and Barry were looking up information about their next league opponents, Conway appeared and told them that Takuto managed to easily obtain his eight gym badges and advance through the first two rounds of the Suzuran Conference using just his Darkrai. In DP185, Takuto appeared unshadowed for the first time, and he was shown to have advanced into the Top 8. In DP188, it was shown that he had advanced yet again, now placing in the Top 4 of the Suzuran Conference.

In DP189, he battled against Ash in the semi-finals of the Suzuran Conference. Although he was able to gain an early lead with his Darkrai, Ash's Sceptile managed to overcome Darkrai's attacks and defeat it. Takuto then called out his Latios, who managed to defeat the remainder of Ash's team (while fainting itself), winning the match for Takuto.

Later, Takuto defeated his final round opponent, who owned a Magmortar, winning the Suzuran Conference and giving him the chance to battle the Sinnoh Elite Four.

Pokémon

Takuto's Darkrai
Darkrai
Darkrai is Takuto's main Pokémon. Using Darkrai, Takuto easily won eight badges in Sinnoh and quickly advanced through the first four rounds of the Suzuran Conference. Takuto's Darkrai was first seen in DP183, defeating a Trainer's Machamp.

In DP189, it faced Ash and his Pokémon in the semifinals of the tournament. At the beginning of the battle, Darkrai faced Ash's Heracross, but withstood its Megahorn attack and incapacitated it with a combination of Dark Void and Dream Eater. After this, Darkrai subdued Ash's Torkoal with only a Dark Pulse, and defeated his Gible with the same move after resisting a Rock Smash and dodging a Draco Meteor. Though it was able to put Ash's Sceptile to sleep with another Dark Void, the latter awakened almost immediately and defeated Darkrai with Leaf Blade.

Darkrai was later seen defeating a Magmortar in the finals, earning Takuto the victory and making him the winner of the Suzuran Conference.

Darkrai's known moves are Ice Beam, Dark Void, Dream Eater and Dark Pulse.

Takuto's Latios
Latios
Latios was the second Pokémon that Takuto used in his battle against Ash.

Latios appeared in DP189, where it was sent out after Ash's Sceptile had defeated Darkrai. Latios was able to overpower Sceptile with a single Giga Impact, and won against an aerial battle with Swellow which ended with a powerful Luster Purge. Ash's Pikachu, however, was able to either endure or evade some attacks from Latios, and ended up on Latios's back where he could use his Electric attacks. Despite this, Latios used Light Screen to reduce the power of the attacks, and managed to shake Pikachu off afterwards. At the end of the battle, Latios launched another Luster Purge while Pikachu countered with a combination of Volt Tackle and Iron Tail, culminating in a huge explosion, knocking out both Pokémon and ending in a draw. However, as this left Ash with no Pokémon remaining, Takuto was declared the victor and continued to the final round.

Latios's known moves are Giga Impact, Luster Purge and Light Screen.

Trivia

  • Takuto's design, from his color scheme to his physical features, was most probably based on his main Pokémon, Darkrai.
  • He is the first character in the anime that participate in Pokémon League using legendary Pokémon.
  • Even though his face is covered in his debut in DP183, Takuto still appears in DP182 on the match up board for the upcoming battles in the Suzuran Conference in the bottom right corner with a clear image of his face.
  • His known Pokémon, Darkrai and Latios, both are the member of respective duo legendary. Coincidentally, they both are male counterparts of the members, even though Darkrai is genderless.
