String Shot (Japanese: いとをはく Spit Thread) is a non-damaging Template:Type2 move introduced in Generation I.

Effect

String Shot decreases the target's Speed stat by one stage. String Shot will do nothing if the target's Speed has reached a stage of -6 or a value of one, and will fail if the target has a Substitute or is under the effect of Mist.

In the anime

Pokémon

Caterpie. White string is shot from Caterpie's mouth. Caterpie can also shoot it from its rear end to hang from trees.

Spinarak. Spinarak shoots a white string from its mouth or its abdomen.

Metapod. Metapod shoots white string from the middle of its body.

Weedle. Weedle shoots white string from its mouth.

Kakuna. Kakuna shoots white string from the holes right below its head. It can also shoot string from the back of its head to hand from trees.

Ariados. Ariados shoots white string from its mouth or its abdomen.

Beautifly. Beautifly shoots a white string from its mouth.
