Trivia
- According to an interview in Nintendo Power with Ken Sugimori, Shellos and Gastrodon were originally designed for Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire, but were not implemented in the final design.
Origin
Gastrodon is based on sea slugs.
Name Origin
Gastrodon's name is derived from "gastropod", the zoological category slugs and snails belong to, and "don", a Spanish honorific meaning leader or king, or in other words, king of snalis and slugs.
The name Toritodon may also come from the fact that eastern Gastrodon look like cows or oxes, the word Torito is spanish for Ox. It´s name might mean Royal ox snail, refering to it´s strenght.
