Trivia
- Unlike most Electric-types, Ampharos has Speed as its lowest stat.
- Ampharos is one of only two second stage Electric Pokémon under the TCG definition, the other being Luxray. Under the standard definition of having evolved twice from their lowest form, the two are joined by Raichu, Electivire, and Magnezone.
Origin
Name origin
An ampere, or amp, is a measure of electrical current. Pharos is the name of an area of Northern Egypt, where the Lighthouse of Alexandria is located. It is also interesting to note that "amphora," a Greek jar, bears some resemblance to "Ampharos." Ampharos's Japanese name can be taken to mean 電流, electric current. It may also be taken to be 電竜, electric-dragon, although this isn't a dictionary word. The French meaning seems to be a corruption of Lighthouse amp.
