Walkthrough:Pokémon Scarlet and Violet/Part 13

Eastward Bound

Both Larry the Gym Leader, and the Quaking Earth Titan are near Kofu and Cascarrafa, but we’re going to fly to the East first and level up a bit before taking them on. Fly to the Levincia (North) Pokémon Center, and you can follow the road West to get to Zapapico first. This will unlock some new fly points and be close to the Poison Crew's Base. It looks like you can travel to from the East Province (Area Two) Pokémon Center, but a sheer cliff will stop you from reaching Zapico.

Along the way we’ll be preparing for the next Team Star base so we want some Ground- or Psychic-type on the team. Steel-types are also a good choice as they are immune to being Poisoned and Poison-type moves. You can find Cufant and Varoom on this path, and if you didn’t catch the Titan Orthworm then you’ll have an opportunity to find a regular one here. Halfway down the path to Zapapico, you will see a woman under a tent on the right, use her to heal your Pokémon.

Entering Zapapico

Zapapico isn’t a big town, but it’s an important one to get the fly point for. It provides access to Dalizapa Passage, and it is also where you will find the man/woman who trades 10 Bronzor Fragments/Sinistea Chips for the Auspicious Armor/Malicious Armor needed to evolve Charcadet into Armarouge/Ceruledge. They are standing next to a fountain, and have the text “Fancy a trade?”. There are also a few cafés and sandwich ingredient shops here, but there are no items exclusive to the town.

When you’re done, set your route for the Navi Squad's Base in Tagtree Thicket. The Pokémon North of here are around level 35, so they are a bit stronger than what we’ve faced so far. However, there are Tinkatuff and Espathra in this area, which can be decent counters to the Navi Squad's Poison Pokémon. Tagtree Thicket has a border around it that can only be crossed at certain points. You can walk or fly back to the woman who healed you along the path you came from, and head up the road to the North to get into the forest.

Taking on Tagtree Thicket

You’ll see a Pokémon Center right outside the thicket, which is a great place to heal. The entrance to the forest is marked with purple Team Star flags on either side. As you enter the Tagtree Thicket you’ll be entered into a cutscene. Clive will approach you and tell you that he has been keeping in contact with members of Team Star and wants to continue with Operation Starfall.

From here you can decide whether to go straight to the base, or to pick up some Pokémon from Tagtree Thicket. Scarlet players can pick up Oranguru here, which can be strong in the upcoming battles. Once you have caught everything you want, approach the front gates. You will see a Team Star Grunt arguing with a student who wants to go into the base and meet the leader Atticus. You approach the pair and tell them who you are. The Grunt will hurry inside, and Pokémon Trainer Youssef will fight you.

Youssef will try to overwhelm your team with Toxic and stalling strategies with Stockpile and Swallow. The Shroodle can be annoying with Flatter to confuse you, but overall it shouldn’t be too difficult. Once you beat Youssef, Clive will approach and talk to him. Cassiopeia then calls and tells you a little about Atticus and the Poison Squad. After this you are free to put your three Poison-type counters in the lead and head into the base.

Taking down Team Star

Like with the other Team Star bases, you will have to defeat 30 Pokémon in Let’s Go battles within 10 minutes. You will commonly face Gastly, Haunter, Shroodle, Grafaiai, Paldean Wooper, and Clodsire, but Gulpin, Swalot, Seviper, Foongus, Amoonguss, Grimer, Venonat, and Venomoth can also appear. Don’t forget to heal at the vending machines if you need to.

Once that’s done you’re ready for the leader Atticus. He has three Pokémon and the Starmobile, and his Skuntank will prove an issue if you’re relying on Psychic-type attackers. Its mix of Toxic and Venoshock, which doubles in power when the opponent is Poisoned, is also devastating. Stench can flinch making this fight event more difficult if you don’t have speed on your side. The Muk is less threatening, though Sludge Wave hits hard, and Mud-Slap can be very disruptive. The Revavroom can be taken out with a single Ground-type move, but it hits very hard if you allow it to.

As with all Starmobile’s Atticus’ one is very strong with a lot of HP. It has Toxic Debris spreading Toxic Spikes around the field, preventing you from switching around too much. Its gimmick is all about Speed. Spin Out will sharply lower its Speed, and Flame Charge will raise it. However, even if its Speed is lowered it still has a good chance at outspeeding your team.

Atticus’ Memories

Once you’ve defeated Atticus, you’ll see one of his memories where he shows his face. It shows Atticus giving the Team Star leaders their outfits after he has designed and made them. The memory explains how Atticus was bullied for his love of fashion, which is why he found a home with Team Star. They also talk about how they want to train and become better at battling. Atticus will then take a picture with you for defeating him and gives you TM102 Gunk Shot, a powerful physical Poison-type move.

Clive brings over Youssef, the student that you defeated at the gate, to talk to Atticus. The student expresses gratitude to Atticus and Team Star for pushing the bullies out of the school. Atticus explains that the big boss of Team Star has since gone missing, and that the leaders will defend their bases until their boss returns. He also explains that the boss is a recluse, and none of the members of Team Star have actually met them.

Once outside the base Cassiopeia will call you again. Cassiopeia explains that the main goal of Operation Starfall is to take down the big boss, the person who formed Team Star. However, like Atticus, they don’t know who the big boss is. Despite this they believe that the big boss will make themselves known once all five bases are taken down. Cassiopeia then transfers you 7,000 LP, upgrades the TM machine, and Penny stops by with plenty of Pokémon materials. Koraidon/Miraidon will pop out of its ball and give her a fright, and she will explain that taking down the big boss is important to her too.

After this cutscene you are free to travel to Medali and take on our next Gym Leader, Larry.
