Monster Megas

Mega Evolutions become very important from this part of the game forward, as these are the only Pokémon that deal meaningful damage to Rogue Mega Evolutions. We will face a number of these fights going forward, so it’s important that you keep a range of Pokémon that can Mega Evolve, and their stones.

The Stone Emporium will now sell Mega Stones to us. Alongside the stones available at Quasartico Inc., this is where we will purchase the majority of our Mega Stones. You can also purchase Evolution Stones and Fossils here, the latter of which can be used to revive Aerodactyl for another Mega Evolution. Mega Stones can only be purchased once. The Mega Stone that corresponds to the first partner Pokémon which the player chose at the beginning of the game (either Meganiumite, Emboarite, or Feraligite) will not be available for purchase, as it is given to the player by AZ instead. The other two will be on sale only after completing the main story.

Bringing Fossils back to life

Speaking of Old Amber, there is a certain side quest we recommend taking part in so that you can revive Fossil Pokémon, and add a few new members to your team.

Side Mission 027: Restored from a Fossil Speak to Reg at the Pokémon Research Lab and he will give you $20,000 to purchase either the Jaw or Sail Fossil from the Stone Emporium. Both are for sale, so you don't have to make the choice between Tyrunt (Jaw) and Amaura (Sail) permanently; you can pick them and Aerodactyl (Old Amber) up whenever you have the funds, and Reg will happily revive them.

Head down the road slightly north of the lab to reach the Stone Emporium. Once you have purchased either the Jaw or Sail Fossil return to Reg and he’ll revive it. As a reward Reg will allow you to keep the level 20 Fossil Pokémon that you chose to revive, and will also open up to reviving other fossils. He will also give you $2500, a Hard Stone and 10 Kelpsy Berry.

Going Rogue

You can talk on Main Mission 11, 12 and 13 in any order, so you don’t need to stick strictly to this guide. For all of these battles you will need a Pokémon capable of Mega Evolution in your party. This means a Pokémon holding their corresponding Mega Stone. You have at least two by now: Absol with Absolite, and your first first partner with the stone AZ gave you.

You should also purchase stones for other Mega Pokémon from either Quasartico Inc. using Mega Shards or from the Stone Emporium with Poké Dollars, as you can use multiple Mega Evolutions in battle. You can complete these missions without a Mega Pokémon in your party, but they do significantly decreased damage and it will take a lot longer. We do not recommend this. All of the Rogue Mega Evolutions in this section are level 34, so you should try to make sure your Pokémon are around this level.

Soothing Slowbro

Follow the mission marker on the map and approach Urbain/Taunie to initiate the Rogue Mega Slowbro fight. They will heal your Pokémon before you start, and they will also join you in battle. Mega Slowbro has sky-high Defense, but fairly normal Special Defense. This means you should make sure that the Pokémon you use to counter it is a Special Attacker. Mega Meganium is perfect for this, but Mega Absol is also good as long as you change its moveset so it only has special attacks.

The focus of the Mega Battles is on keeping you alive rather than on keeping your Pokémon alive, as the Rogue Pokémon will consistently target you. Make sure you are always on the move and dodge any attacks with Y. If you do fall in battle, you can continue from 75%, 50%, or 25% health on the Mega Pokémon depending on which benchmark you hit during the fight. You can also choose to start over from the beginning.

Once Mega Slowbro is defeated you’ll be rewarded with a Slowbronite. Urbain/Taunie will also heal all of your Pokémon after the battle so that you’re ready to move to the next mission marker, and calm another Rogue Pokémon. Once defeated Main Mission 11 will be complete.

Calming Camerupt

Before we take on the Rogue Mega Camerupt, Tarragon and his crew from Racine Construction are guarding the scaffolding to the rooftops. A Racine Construction Worker will challenge you. He has a level 32 Tynamo and Numel, which should be fairly easy if you’re ready to take on the Rogue Megas. Once he’s been defeated you’re ready to climb up to the roofs where you’ll meet Lida, who’ll heal your Pokémon.

Like with Urbain/Taunie, Lida will join you in battle. Camerupt takes four times damage from Water- and Ground-type moves, so Mega Feraligatr is perfect for this fight. If you picked a different first partner, Mega Blastoise, Garchomp, or Gyarados are all good options that should be available to you at this point in the game.

Once you’ve defeated Camerupt, you’ll receive the Cameruptite and Main Mission 12 will be completed. Now you’re ready to take on the final Rogue Mega Evolution.

Victory over Victreebel

For our last Rogue Mega Evolution we’ll be taking down Victreebel with Naveen. Victreebel spits poison sludge all around the arena that damages all Pokémon, even Poison and Steel-type so you need to watch your step. Mega Emboar is obviously strong in this fight, but Mega Houndoom and Mega Medicham are also strong choices.

With Mega Victreebel soothed, you’ll be rewarded with the Victreebelite and Main Mission 13 will be completed. We are now ready to return to the hotel and finish up the last part of Main Mission 10.

Meeting with Zygarde

Return to Hotel Z and you will be met outside by Zygarde, and it’s clear that it wants to battle with you. Zygarde is level 33, and is easy to take down if you have a full team. Once defeated Zygarde will give you a Pebble, which we can’t do anything with just yet.

We then meet a new character L. He says that we have gained Zygarde’s attention, and he asks us if we are ready to protect Lumiose City. He then makes some mysterious comments about AZ facing his sins. With this Main Mission 10 is completed.
