Effect

In battle

This Ability effect may be in need of research.
Reason: About Dazzling, Queenly Majesty, and Armor Tail:
  • Does this block an increased priority move used by the Pokémon with Dazzling targeting an ally. (such as Helping Hand or even damaging moves like Quick Attack)
  • In a double battle, does this block the moves that target all adjacent Pokémon (such as Surf, Earthquake, and Explosion)? Alternatively, are they blocked during a regular 1-on-1 battle?
  • Please explicitly state if the moves that target the opponent's side of the field (such as Spikes or Sticky Web) would be blocked during a regular 1-on-1 battle.
  • What if a move is simultaneously affected by positive and negative status changes? For instance, Whirlwind (-7 priority) boosted by Prankster (+1 priority). Is this usable (since the overall priority is -6) or is it blocked by Dazzing (since the priority was technically increased by Prankster nonetheless)?
  • If a Pokémon affected by After You or Quash ignores all priorities, then would its increased priority moves like Quick Attack still be blocked or not? Alternatively, if a Pokémon is affected by After You, are all its moves blocked due to their increased priority?
  • If a move is called by Dancer, does this count as high priority since it would be used before any other moves?
  • Does this block a move with increased priority within the same priority bracket? (for instance, as a result of Quick Draw, Trick Room, Custap Berry, or Quick Claw)
  • Does this block Pursuit specifically when Pursuit's target (the Pokémon with Dazzling or its ally) is switching out?
  • Does this block Grassy Glide during Grassy Terrain?
  • Technical distinctions:
    • If both allies in a Double Battle have Dazzling, are both Abilities activated in the same turn when blocking a move, or just one of those Abilities?
    • If a status move boosted by Prankster targets a Dark-type Pokémon with Dazzling (or with an ally that has Dazzling), would the move fail because of the Dark-type or because of the Ability?
    • If First Impression is used after the user's first turn, does this move fail by itself (because it only works the first turn) or is it blocked by Dazzling (because it has a +2 priority when used successfully)?
    • If the ally has an Ability that blocks certain moves, will Dazzling take precedence or will the ally's Ability activate? (examples: Ice Face, Dry Skin, Motor Drive, Sap Sipper, Bulletproof, Soundproof, Levitate, and Wonder Guard)
    • If a move that calls other moves (such as Metronome or Mirror Move) is used with increased priority, will it fail to call the move, or will it call the move and then fail? (For instance, will Metronome still choose a random move to use before failing?)
    • If a confused, paralyzed, infatuated, or disobedient Pokémon tries to use an increased priority move against a Pokémon with Dazzling, can the move fail because of those game mechanics or does Dazzling always take priority? For example, can a Pokémon hit itself in confusion if it attempts to use a move that would be blocked by Dazzling?
You can discuss this on the talk page.

This Ability prevents certain moves with increased priority to be executed, after their PP is deducted.

Mold Breaker, Turboblaze, and Teravolt ignore this Ability.

Blocked moves

Dazzling blocks the moves with increased priority that target the Pokémon with this Ability or its allies.

The following moves are blocked:

The moves that would be blocked when used normally are still blocked when forced by Instruct, or repeated by Encore or a held choice item, since they retain their original priority.

Unblocked moves

Dazzling has no effect on moves with regular or decreased priority.

Dazzling has no effect on the following moves even if they have increased priority:

Status Z-Moves with increased priority will have their Z-Power effect activate. For example, if a Pokémon uses Z-Baby-Doll Eyes on a Pokémon under the effect of Dazzling, the user will still gain Defense; it will not lower the target's Attack, however.

Outside of battle

Dazzling has no effect outside of battle.
