History

Instructor Starmie and Friede

As revealed in Roy vs. Friede: Wings of Fire!, Starmie was at the Mossdeep Space Center, having always dreamt of going up to space and learned a lot about space travel through the people who work there. One day, Starmie meet Friede, who was training to become an astronaut, as it took an interest in him. After that, Starmie taught Friede a lot about space travel, as he nicknamed it Instructor Starmie, and eventually decided to join his team. Later, Instructor Starmie became able to use Mega Evolution. After Friede completed his training, Instructor Starmie went with its Trainer to space in order to get information about Laquium.

Instructor Starmie first debuted in its Mega form in The Catcher in the Sky. Near the end of the episode, after the reunion of Friede's return, Orla unknowingly ran towards it thinking it was Friede. Instructor Starmie meet Friede's Rising Volt Tacklers teammates and Captain Pikachu.

In HZ133, Instructor Starmie Mega Evolved alongside Roy's Lucario and Ult's Sableye to battle against the Explorers's Mega Evolved Pokemon. Starmie and Sableye focused on Sidian's Aerodactyl and Coral's Glalie while Lucario focused on fighting Chalce's Medicham. The battle continued in the next episode where Glalie prepared to use Self-Destruct to take them all out. As a Ghost-type, Sableye prepared to shield them but Friede realized that Glalie's Refrigerate Ability meant it was now an Ice-type move and would affect the Darkness Pokémon told Starmie to take the hit which Starmie did, shielding Lucario and Sableye from getting knocked out but getting defeated in the process.

Personality and characteristics

Much like Captain Pikachu, Instructor Starmie is diligent and responsible, as it takes space travel seriously. Instructor Starmie also had a dream of going up to space. In addition, Instructor Starmie has great knowledge about space travel, having spend most of its time watching the people working at the Mossdeep Space Center.

Instructor Starmie quickly took a liking to Friede and decided to help him with his space training then join his team. As time passed, Instructor Starmie formed a strong bond with Friede and works well with him. Instructor Starmie can easily get along with anyone, having easily befriended its teammates and its Trainer's friends. It also has compassion for others, as seen in HZ133, when it got Ult's Sableye gem back from Coral's Glalie.
