Type order
Type order refers to the specific order of types assigned to a dual-type Pokémon.
Mechanics
When a Pokémon has two types, they are always listed in a specific order. This order usually does not matter and is mostly aesthetic, though there are a few cases where it makes a difference. For instance, it affects Present in Generation II, Revelation Dance, and Judgment in Pokémon Legends: Arceus when used by Arceus holding a Legend Plate.
In Generation I (except Pokémon Stadium), due to a glitch, when a damaging move is used on a Pokémon with two types with one type resisting that move and the other being weak to it, the game will consistently display an incorrect effectiveness message (despite the move being neutrally effective). However, which of the incorrect messages is displayed does not depend on the type order of the attacked Pokémon, but instead on the order in which type effectiveness multiplier are coded into the game.
It is possible for a Pokémon to have the third type, however it is only a in-battle effect inflicted by Forest's Curse and Trick-or-Treat which put the Grass or Ghost type on the slot for the third type and this effect can be copied by Reflect Type.
The only move considered to have two types is Flying Press, however internally it is treated as a Fighting move with effect imitating having also Flying type.
In Pokémon Black and White, Pokémon Black 2 and White 2, the player's Pokémon in Hall of Fame are displayed over the background that symbolizes their primary type. Similarly in Pokemon GO, the background image displayed behind a Pokémon when viewing its summary in the Pokémon Box demonstrates its primary type.
