Mr. Verich

Mr. Verich (Japanese: メチャリッチ Mecharich) is a character in Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness.

In the games

Mr. Verich first appears at Gateon Port, where he stops a thug named Zook from beating up Michael's sister, Jovi. He also provides free food and drink to the patrons of The Krabby Club, a bar in Gateon Port. However, for most of the game, Mr. Verich's purpose is unknown, and his existence is hardly mentioned at all. Right before Michael goes to Citadark Isle, Mr. Verich leaves Gateon Port, much to the dismay of the Gateon Port residents.

  • Before Ardos battles Zook
"That's quite enough of that."
"Pokémon aren't meant to be used in such a manner. Choose your place and time."
  • After Ardos defeats Zook
"No, no. That won't be necessary. He won't come back. Leave him be."
"Let us be on our way."
"Hohoho. That hardly deserves such gratitude, my little lady."
"We only did what had to be done. Nothing more."
"Oh, my, my. I haven't seen you for a while. I understand that you were quite the hero in Phenac City. Very impressive of you. Hohoho."

  • Verich's name is a pun on the phrase "very rich". His Japanese name is likewise a combination of "mecha" (very, a lot) and "rich".
