Picnic Time
A short distance from Mesagoza, you find a young girl and her Eevee at a picnic table. Speak to her to find that she has too many ingredients, and decides to share some with you. As she believes that food is best enjoyed outside, she suggests having a picnic so that you and your Pokémon can take a rest. Doing so here restores your Pokémon to full health, leaving them ready to explore the rest of the area. The girl invites you to visit again anytime.
Continue along the path and you will soon reach the South Province (Area Two) Pokémon Center, which unlocks the building as a fast-travel point.
South Province (Area Two) Watchtower
The South Province (Area Two) Watchtower stands on the edge of a cliff to the north-northwest of the Pokémon Center. Reaching the tower unlocks it as a fast-travel point.
Lower level
Climb to the lower level to find a copy of TM072 (Electro Ball), then continue to the top.
Upper level
A suspicious-looking treasure chest can be found on the upper level. Examine it to trigger a battle with a Chest Form Gimmighoul, a Ghost-type Pokémon. When the battle ends, you automatically obtain a random quantity (10-777) of Gimmighoul Coins that it leaves behind. Gimmighoul evolves when leveled up after collecting 999 of these coins, which then disappear in the process.
Gimmighoul also has a second appearance, its Roaming Form. This form lacks its treasure chest and can be found in various places, like hiding behind signs or standing on rocks. It is timid and flees when examined, and also leaves behind a number (1-200) of Gimmighoul Coins.
Tera Crystals

containing a Tera Grass-type Pokémon
Across Paldea, there are gleaming crystal clusters that grow and fade over time. These Tera Crystals have been found in a variety of colors, and are visible from a distance due to the brilliant beams of light they emit. Examine one to take part in a Tera Raid Battle!
Examining each crystal cluster for the first time also awards a certain amount of League Points, even if you choose not to participate in the raid.

It is possible to battle alongside nearby friends in Offline Mode, or faraway friends in Online Mode. Work together with your allies to defeat the Tera Pokémon and earn the chance to catch it, and also receive special items!

Grand Olive Orchard
The Grand Olive Orchard includes a large number of fields along the road outside Cortondo where olives are grown, and has been designated as one of the Ten Sights of Paldea. A wild Rock-type Tera Diglett has been known to frequent the area.
A sign indicating the landmark is located to the north of the main road, near some ruins on the higher eastern plateau. Examining this sign unlocks the area as a fast-travel point.

Cortondo Gym

| Cortondo Gym Leader Katy, the Sugarbug
The Cortondo Gym is a recommended first stop for anyone taking on the Pokémon League. Though sweet as a treat, Gym Leader Katy, a baker of bug-themed pastries, shows a bold streak in battle! |
Meet Up with Nemona
When you visit the Cortondo Gym, you find Nemona at the front desk. She is excited to find you setting your sights on the Pokémon League, and explains that before you can challenge a Gym Leader, you must first pass their Gym Test. Every Gym Test is different, and each Gym's receptionist can give further details. She gives you three Super Potions, then runs off to find her next opponent.
Registration
Speak to the receptionist to register as a challenger. In order to take on Gym Leader Katy, you must first clear her Gym Test: the Olive Roll. To clear it, challengers must roll a large, olive-shaped ball to the goal at the end of the field, navigating past various obstacles along the way. He directs you to the staff member at the Olive-Rolling Field, and shares the location data to your Map app.
Olive-Rolling Field
The Olive-Rolling Field is located just north of town, down the road from the Cortondo (West) Pokémon Center. Speak to the staffer to accept the challenge, and the Gym Test begins!

Cortondo Gym Test
From the starting platform, roll the ball straight ahead to the southeast corner of the field. From this point, there are several possible paths that each lead to the center of the field.
- Roll the ball back and forth through the west side of the field;
- Go northwest and push the ball over a ramp; or
- Defeat Gym Trainer Esmerelda, and the group of Smoliv behind her steps aside to open a shortcut around the northeast corner.
From the middle of the field, there are two paths from which to choose.
- Roll the ball through the west side of the field, then back east toward the goal; or
- Defeat Gym Trainer Antonio, and the group of Smoliv behind him steps aside to open a shortcut leading directly to the goal.
Get the ball into the large, red basket at the north end of the field to pass the Gym Test. The staffer declares the test officially cleared, and asks that you report your result to the receptionist in the Gym.
Cortondo
Cortondo Gym
Preparing for Battle
Speak to the receptionist, and he asks if you are ready to challenge Gym Leader Katy. Say yes, and you are automatically escorted to the battle court across the street.

Gym Leader Katy
Battle court
Cortondo's battle court sits above a bakery known as Patisserie Soapberry. The Gym Leader introduces herself as the bakery's owner, and reveals that her main occupation is crafting sweets as a pastry chef. She explains that just as sweets bring happiness with a single bite, Bug-type Pokémon are also small yet powerful, and warns against underestimating them.
VS Katy
Bug-type moves are super effective against Dark-, Grass-, and Psychic-type Pokémon, while Bug-type Pokémon are weak to Fire-, Flying-, and Rock-type moves.
Fire and Flying Pokémon, like Fuecoco, Fletchling, and Starly, will have little trouble against Katy's team. Rock Pokémon, however, should avoid facing her Nymble as it can retaliate with Double Kick, a Fighting-type attack. Katy will Terastallize her Teddiursa at the earliest opportunity, causing the Normal-type Pokémon to become Bug type instead.
After the battle, Katy awards you the Bug Badge. Having earned one Gym Badge ensures obedience from all Pokémon caught at Level 25 or below. She also gives you a copy of TM021 (Pounce) as a prize.
The Next Step
With the battle concluded, you find yourself back inside the Gym building. As you turn to leave, you receive a call from Nemona. She asks how things went at the Gym, and congratulates you on your victory. She's been traveling all over the place during her training, and is grateful to have the Map app in a huge place like Paldea. She points out how the path to getting stronger usually involves strange stops and detours, and wonders aloud what Arven has been doing lately. She ends the call by reminding you to expect a battle with her the next time you meet!
Time for a Trade
A boy on the main road, just west of the Gym, would like to trade Pokémon. He is willing to part with his Snom in exchange for a Flabébé. The flower held by the Pokémon can be found in several colors, but he is happy to receive the Pokémon regardless of color.
