Walkthrough:Pokémon Diamond and Pearl/Part 6
These pages follow the original Nintendo DS iteration, not Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. The guide for those games can be found here.
Route 205 (Southwest)

Now that Team Galactic has fled the area, the southwest part of Route 205 is now open to travelers. A narrow trail bypasses Eterna Forest to link the two halves of the route, but requires a certain field move to clear the way.

Rest and Restore Health
A lone cabin stands near the entrance to Eterna Forest. The woman inside has opened her home as a rest stop for weary travelers. Speak to her whenever your Pokémon need restored to full health.
Eterna Forest

Eterna Forest stands in the middle of Route 205. The multitude of mature trees shades the forest floor from the sun, leaving the area enveloped in chilly air. The area's dense tree growth turns the forest into a natural maze.

It's Dangerous to Go Alone
Soon after entering the forest, you are approached by a woman named Cheryl. She intends to pass through the forest, but is afraid of going alone and running into Team Galactic. She asks to travel with you, and promises to keep your Pokémon in perfect health. She and her Chansey will also assist in each battle, turning all wild battles into Double Battles, and all Trainer battles that may otherwise be Double Battles into Multi Battles. Cheryl will restore your Pokémon to full health after every battle.
A Mossy Rock
A small, moss-covered rock can be found in the southwest part of the forest.
| Trainer Tips | |
|---|---|
| Covered in Moss
Pleasantly cool to the touch, this rock emits a special type of energy. When an Eevee is leveled up inside the forest, this energy causes the Pokémon to evolve into Leafeon. This energy is weakest inside the Old Chateau, where the effect is not triggered. | |
Old Chateau
The fenced-off area in the northeast leads to the Old Chateau, an abandoned home that has fallen into disrepair. Reaching it requires the use of a certain field move, so exploring the old building will need to wait for now.
Parting Ways
Moving eastward from the Old Chateau, you and Cheryl soon reach the forest exit. She is relieved, and thanks you for your help. She then exits the forest, leaving you free to do the same.
Route 205 (Northeast)
The northeastern part of Route 205 features a large pond, and a wooden bridge where Fishermen spend their time dangling their lines. Eterna City lies to the east.

Eterna City

Eterna City is an old city, where ties to history still survive to the modern day. A large statue depicting an ancient Pokémon still holds a prominent place in the eastern plaza, where festivals were once held. The city is also home to the Eterna Gym and a bicycle shop.

The Bonds of Friendship
Visit the Pokémon Center and speak to the woman near the entrance to download a new Pokétch app, the Friendship Checker. This app lets the user evaluate their friendship with each Pokémon in their party. In addition to affecting the power of the moves Return and Frustration, there are over a dozen Pokémon that can only evolve after achieving a strong friendship with their Trainer.
Underground Man's house
The house next door to the Pokémon Center belongs to an elderly resident, nicknamed the "Underground Man". He claims to have been the first to go underground and dig some of the tunnels that run throughout the region, far below the surface. The man decides to gift you an Explorer Kit, so long as you put it to good use. This kit allows the user to instantly reach the tunnels below, or return to the surface. Accept his offer to mentor you, and he assigns the first of several different tasks meant to familiarize you with the subterranean network. Rewards range from Spheres, a type of currency used in the Underground, to Secret Base decorations.
Rad Rickshaw's Bike Shop
The local bike shop can be found just southeast of the Pokémon Center. The manager is away, and a Youngster inside informs you that he has gone off to the Team Galactic building and has not yet returned.
Eterna Condominiums
The Eterna Condominiums building is located to the southeast of the Cycle Shop.
1F
Name Rater
An elderly man at the nearest table is known as the Name Rater. This man judges a Trainer's nickname for their Pokémon, and offers the chance to change it. His service is free, so nicknames may be changed repeatedly.
Time for a Trade
A boy sitting at the far table would like to trade Pokémon. He is willing to part with his Chatot in exchange for a Buizel. Buizel can be found on nearby Route 205, while Chatot can only be found in the easternmost reaches of Sinnoh.
2F
The elderly woman standing near the sink has held onto a TM for a while but has found no use for it. Speak to her, and she gives you TM67 (Recycle), hoping that you can put it to good use.
Eterna Gym

| Eterna City Pokémon Gym Leader: Gardenia Master of Vivid Plant Pokémon! | |
The Eterna Gym specializes in Grass-type Pokémon. Grass-type moves are super effective against Ground-, Rock-, and Water-type Pokémon, while Grass-type Pokémon are weak to Bug-, Fire-, Flying-, Ice-, and Poison-type moves.
The Gym is decorated in such a way that it mimics the appearance of a forest. The Gym Leader, Gardenia, is first met in the lobby, where she explains that challengers must earn the chance to battle her by defeating the Gym Trainers inside. Each one must be defeated before the next one appears. Follow the main path to the rear wall, then turn southwest to battle Lass Caroline in the nearest dead-end path. Next, follow the western wall southward past the two rocks to battle Aroma Lady Jenna near the entrance. Third, backtrack toward the entrance and battle Aroma Lady Angela behind the middle of three thin trees. Finally, follow the east wall northward to battle Beauty Lindsay. With the four Gym Trainers defeated, the Gym Leader appears near the rear wall.
VS Gardenia
Gardenia leads with her Cherubi; despite having only one damaging move, it can still drain the target's HP with Leech Seed. Her Turtwig can raise its own physical Defense with Withdraw, and that of its team with Reflect. This helps Roserade reinforce its weakest stat, leaving it free to focus on offense. Its strong Special Attack coupled with the perfect accuracy of Magical Leaf can become problematic after a few hits. It is best to bring a few Antidotes and Parlyz Heals along, as Roserade can cause both poisoning and paralysis. Trainers with Chimchar or Starly will have the advantage in this Gym; those with neither may wish to visit Route 211, east of Eterna City, to catch a Fire-type Ponyta for backup.

After the battle, Gardenia awards you the Forest Badge, which enables the use of Cut in the field. Having two Badges also ensures the obedience of all Pokémon up to level 30. She also gives you TM86 (Grass Knot) as a prize.
Meet Cynthia, the Researcher
As you near the Team Galactic building in the northwest, you are approached by a woman. After noticing your Pokédex, she asks if you are helping Professor Rowan. The woman asks for your name, and introduces herself as Cynthia, explaining that she has been studying Pokémon mythology lately. She mentions how the nearby statue depicts an ancient Pokémon that was said to be extremely powerful, and wonders aloud if you may encounter something like it during your travels. Cynthia then gifts you HM01 (Cut) to help you on your journey, in the hope that reaching previously inaccessible areas will help to fill the Pokédex. She wishes you luck, then leaves to the south.
Team Galactic Eterna Building

The Team Galactic Eterna Building is Team Galactic's base of operations in western Sinnoh. A sign in front of the building makes their mission plain: "We Want Your Pokémon!".

1F
There are four Grunts to be found on the first floor, though only two are looking to fight. Defeat them in a Double Battle, then climb up the stairs.
2F
On the second floor, four Grunts can be found hard at work at their computers, researching new forms of energy. It is possible to slip past them without confrontation, though the first and third Grunts from the west wall will draw you into battle if disturbed.
3F
Battle the first of the two Grunts on the third floor, then move on to the Scientist. Before he draws you into battle, he reveals that Team Galactic's goal is a new world order with their boss at the helm!
4F
On the top floor, you find the manager of the Cycle Shop being held hostage by a woman with purple hair. Speak to her, and she asks if you needed something—before immediately stating what a silly question that was, as you are obviously here to save the Pokémon. She then draws you into battle.
VS Jupiter
|
|
After her defeat, Commander Jupiter shrugs off the loss, saying that the investigation into the Pokémon statue is complete. With Commander Mars having collected energy at the Valley Windworks as well, the team's campaign for a new world continues. Jupiter reveals that their boss is researching the myths involving ancient Pokémon, and intends to use the power of these Pokémon to rule over Sinnoh! She suggests keeping out of Team Galactic's way from now on, and disappears in an instant.
After Jupiter and the rest of Team Galactic flees the building, the Cycle Shop manager is reunited with his Clefairy. He can't thank you properly at the moment, but asks that you visit him in his shop.
Rad Rickshaw's Bike Shop
To show his thanks for rescuing him, Rad Rickshaw gifts you the latest model of Bicycle. He then reads aloud from the user manual, which instructs the rider to press the B Button to shift up or down. Third gear is slower, but easier to control; fourth gear is faster, but makes it difficult to steer and stop!
