Flavor text Generation V Raises Attack when hit by a Dark-type move. Generation VI Boosts the Attack stat when it's hit by a Dark-type move. Generation VII Being hit by a Dark-type move boosts the Attack stat of the Pokémon, for justice. Generation VIII Being hit by a Dark-type move boosts the Attack stat of the Pokémon, for justice. Generation IX When the Pokémon is hit by a Dark-type attack, its Attack stat is boosted by its sense of justice.

Justified (Japanese: せいぎのこころ Heart of Justice) is an Ability introduced in Generation V.

Effect

In battle

When a Pokémon with Justified is hit by a Dark-type damaging move, its Attack is increased by one stage. This Ability does not provide immunity or reduction to the damage, nor does it activate from a Dark-type move hitting its Substitute. Dark-type multistrike moves (such as Beat Up) will activate Justified once per strike, increasing the Attack stat that many stages.

Outside of battle

Justified has no effect outside of battle.

• Justified is the only Ability whose name begins with the letter J.
• Except in Inverse Battles, no Pokémon with this Ability is weak to Dark.
  • Only three Pokémon with this Ability—Growlithe, Arcanine, and Gallade—do not normally resist Dark-type moves.
