Name origin

Kangaskhan's name is a combination of kangaroo and Genghis Khan, founder of the Mongol Empire (possibly how it's Pokedex data refers to how violently protective it is of its child). The garū in its Japanese name appears may be from カンガルー kangarū, kangaroo. The German name is a combination of kangaroo and Mama.

Kangaskhan is based on a kangaroo.
