Wailmer (Japanese: ホエルコ Hoeruko; German: Wailmer; French: Wailmer) is a Water-type Pokémon.

Pokédex entries

Pokémon Emerald
While this Pokémon usually lives in the sea, it can survive on land, although not too long. It loses vitality if its body becomes dried out.

Name origin

Wailmer's name is based on whale. Wail may also refer to the sounds this Pokémon may create. Its Japanese name is literally 吠える子, bellowing child, but hoeru is similar in sound to the English word whale, making the meaning of its name whale child. Mer may come from the french word for sea.

Wailmer is, obviously, based on a whale.
