Pokémon Mezastar sets
Set 2 →

The first Pokémon Mezastar set was released on September 17, 2020 and consists of 70 tags.

Information

The inaugural Pokémon Mezastar set debuted Pokémon from several Generations, with particular focus on ones from the first and eighth. Pokémon Sword and Shield mascots Zacian and Zamazenta were featured as Grade 6 Superstar Pokémon, as were the final evolutions of the Kanto first partner Pokémon Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise. Zacian and Zamazenta appeared respectively in their Crowned Sword and Crowned Shield forms, while the final forms of the first partner Pokémon each had the ability to Mega Evolve. Other powerful Superstar Pokémon included the super-ancient Kyogre, Groudon, and Rayquaza, Alolan Ninetales, and the Pokémon mascot Pikachu. Alolan Ninetales and Pikachu could both use Z-Moves.

The set also debuted a number of other Pokémon, including the families of the Kalos and Galar first partner Pokémon, Eevee and its Generation I Eeveelutions, and a Shiny Celebi. The inclusion of the latter was a likely reference to the one that appears in Secrets of the Jungle, the initial release date of which would have closely coincided with the intended launch of Pokémon Mezastar, if not for their postponement due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Players recording activity on the Mezastar Club while this set was in operation unlocked a digital Support Pokémon Ticket that could be scanned when playing Get in Battle! mode, adding Complete Forme Zygarde to the player's Support Pokémon roster for that session. Three Partner Pokémon were also available to players with Memory tags with the launch of this set: Grookey, Scorbunny, and Sobble.
