Masters EX dialogue

Team Rocket trio's quotes page is missing quotes from the event where James is recruited. Can you help add the quotes from that event? --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 22:35, 23 April 2023 (UTC)

Sure, I'd be happy to! I don't have James myself, but I can find the event story on YouTube pretty easily. Storm Aurora (talk) 23:24, 23 April 2023 (UTC)
Thanks. The help is much appreciated. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 08:15, 24 April 2023 (UTC)

Congrats!

Congratulations on the Junior Admin promotion! --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 17:42, 26 July 2023 (UTC)

Masters model of Gigantamax Pokémon

I've seen that you have been adding/updating some of the images from Pokémon Masters EX. I was wondering if you could add models of the Gigantamax forms of Pokémon from Masters EX. Right now the images that I have been using for the Dynamax page are the official artwork of the G-Max Pokémon, not the models of the Gigantamax Pokémon in Masters EX. Also, the images that I have been using for the G-Max page are from Pokémon Home. I would like the images to be actually from the game, so if it is possible, could you please get the models of the Gigantamax Pokémon from Masters?

If you do upload the images, please tell me so I can update the pages myself, that way you won't have to update the pages yourself. I know you are busy with editing other pages, so I wouldn't mind lightening the workload on that small task. User:TBR2001 (talk) 22:35, 12 September 2023 (UTC)

Unfortunately all the "models" I have are the ones that appear in the in-game menus, since those are actually just sprites. Gigantamax forms only appear during the Max Move/G-Max Move cutscenes, not menus. I don't know how to extract or construct the models myself, so the best I could do is take screenshots of the Pokémon before they use their moves. If that's acceptable, I could get a screenshot of every Gigantamax Pokémon except Pikachu. Storm Aurora (talk) 00:37, 13 September 2023 (UTC)
It's alright, I think it is better to leave it the way it is. Otherwise, the background will look jarring when you compare them to their original forms, which have no background. However, I could add the screenshots of the Gigantamax Pokémon to the Gigantamax page if you still want to take those screenshots. TBR2001 (talk) 00:52, 13 September 2023 (UTC)

Neo Champion tournaments

In your edit summary, you mentioned that every tournament has featured a rival beating a player character (Calem beating Serena, Hop/Bede/Marnie beating Gloria/Victor, and Blue beating Leaf). However, I don't think it makes sense to count both Calem/Serena and Blue/Leaf at the same time.

The character based on the player character in the Kanto games is Red, so it feels weird to count Blue beating Leaf just because you can play as her in the games when the same is also true for Calem. PokemonMasterJamal3 (talk) 20:00, 14 September 2023 (UTC)

OK, I'll give you that, the Kanto NC tournament doesn't really feature a rival beating the player character because Red is the clear canon protag from the Kanto games. However, I maintain that saying it happens "often" is still accurate if it happens in 2 out of 3 tournaments. Perhaps we could combine the two statements? "Every tournament to date has featured only player characters and rivals, and they often feature a rival triumphing over a player character." Storm Aurora (talk) 03:25, 15 September 2023 (UTC)

about the images of the characters

User:Hikaru_Wazana/Masters_Eight#Gallery

Should the size of these images be like this? I found the quality and resolution of the images a little low. Do you have them in a better size?--Hikaru Wazana (talk) 17:44, 5 October 2023 (UTC)

Yeah, they should be bigger. I have them at 1457x2048, but when converted to .png the file size is too large to be uploaded to the Archives (they're .jpgs when I download them from Twitter). I can try saving them with more compression and see if that gets the file sizes smaller. If I can get them small enough to upload, would you like me to replace the images you uploaded with them? Storm Aurora (talk) 18:45, 5 October 2023 (UTC)
I use https://imagecompressor.com/ to compress, been quite handy.--BigDocFan, Junior Admin Bulbapedia (talk) 19:03, 5 October 2023 (UTC)
Yes, I will upload it, Storm. If you prefer, you can send me the images via discord in a personal message, and I will try to help.--Hikaru Wazana (talk) 19:40, 5 October 2023 (UTC)
Sounds good. I'll look into it when I get home from work. Storm Aurora (talk) 20:09, 5 October 2023 (UTC)
Compressed and DM'ed to you, Hikaru. Thanks for the website suggestion, BigDocFan - it was super effective at compressing the images! Storm Aurora (talk) 23:29, 5 October 2023 (UTC)

Creating templates

This is going to be ambitious and complicated. Yet, I thank you for reading this comment! As I stated in FinnishPokéFan92's talk page, I wish to create templates that show attributes of moves and sync moves featured in Pokémon Masters EX, please. (Examples: the following link's two blocks for Aeroblast.) How much are able to teach me? I appreciate any knowledge and experience that you are willing to share! Solemn Mac (talk) 15:23, 2 November 2023 (UTC)

Well, the way I learned to create templates is by looking at other templates to see how they work! Template:MastersEventInfobox and Template:MastersMissionTable are good examples of what you can do with templates (I created both of those myself, so I might be biased :P). Category:Other templates has some templates for attacks in other spin-offs, so that might be a good place to start building the specific template you have in mind. If you click the "edit this page" or "view source" button on a template page, you can view the source code and see how it's constructed.
A couple basic tips to help with reading template code: parameters are denoted with triple curly braces, like {{{this}}}. If there's a word in between the braces, that parameter is a named parameter, so you'll have to specify the name of the parameter in the template call (i.e. {{incomplete|needs=Missing image}}). If there's a number in between the braces, that's an unnamed parameter, which just need to be placed in a specific order in the template call. For example, the 2nd parameter in the template call is automatically passed to the {{{2}}} parameter. Lastly, if you see a parameter like {{{this|example}}}, "example" is the default value of the "this" parameter. If you don't specify a value for "this", then "example" will be used by default. Storm Aurora (talk) 18:54, 2 November 2023 (UTC)
This next part is going to make me look ignorant, but first, I thank you for all the info that you gave to me in your messages! So, I am told that I should create a new template in a user subpage, and I do that by "mak[ing] an article at User:<yourname>/<pagename>." I can find my own talk and user pages, and I know how to make a new section, but I'm afraid that making a user subpage is out of my element now. So, how I find this User:<yourname>/<pagename>? I am confident that your expertise in user subpages will be a wonderful guiding star! Solemn Mac (talk) 06:32, 3 November 2023 (UTC)
Oh, it's the same as making a new page! There are a few ways to do that:
  • Type the name of the page into any editing form, put brackets around it, and preview your edit. Click on the link you created, and it'll automatically bring you to the page creation form.
  • Type the name of the page into the search bar and click "search". A prompt will appear at the top of the search list giving you the option to create the page.
  • Edit the URL of the page directly, typing the name of the page after "/wiki/". Make sure you use underscores instead of spaces, though.
So, you just create a page called "User:<yourname>/<pagename>" and the wiki will recognize it as a subpage of your user page. Storm Aurora (talk) 21:46, 4 November 2023 (UTC)
I thank you so much for all that information, Storm Aurora! Soon, I will use these facts to make my first template! Solemn Mac (talk) 23:37, 5 November 2023 (UTC)
Not a problem, good luck! And you can just call me Storm~ Storm Aurora (talk) 02:53, 6 November 2023 (UTC)
As I was removing some of my tool tips, I have created my first finished template. It is located here: link. So, how do I get it approved for general use? Solemn Mac (talk) 16:04, 21 February 2024 (UTC)

(resetting indent)First things first, userspace pages/templates shouldn't use categories intended for mainspace pages, so I've gone ahead and hidden the category on that template for you. Second, it needs to be reviewed and approved by staff. Normally that's done by putting {{mainspace}} on the page with the {{{status}}} parameter set to complete, but since you've brought it up to me directly, I can look it over for you.

My primary concern about this template is where/how you intend it to be used. If it's just going to be used in a template for Masters moves, it's best to just paste the code you're using for this template into the other template, rather than calling a template within the other template (that ends up inflating the include size of the other template).

I also don't think it's necessary to use a switch statement here. When the only difference between the options is a single word (one, two, three, or four), it's simpler to just make that word the parameter so that you're just inserting that word into the file name ([[File:Move gauge {{{1|four}}} slots.png]]). As for the slot/slots thing, we could change the image names so that they're all using the same name scheme (Move gauge one slot, Move gauge two slot, etc. or Move gauge one slots, Move gauge two slots, etc.) or use an if statement to determine if "slot" or "slots" is used. The if statement is cheaper to use performance-wise, since it's just one comparison compared to four or five for the switch statement. Storm Aurora (talk) 21:01, 22 February 2024 (UTC)

I can tell that these templates don't look promising now. You are probably believing that they will harm Pokémon Masters EX's image. I assure you that I will use your feedback to make templates that bolster this game's impression! How does that sound? With all sincerity, Solemn Mac (talk) 16:15, 23 February 2024 (UTC)
Excuse me, Storm. Is this a bad day to ask you some questions? Solemn Mac (talk) 12:59, 27 February 2024 (UTC)
Nah, other people have the new information from the Presents under control. What's up? Storm Aurora (talk) 15:20, 27 February 2024 (UTC)
Thank you! One, how do I delete a needless template? Two, how can I limit a parameter's values (e.g., numbers 11-21 or five certain strings)? Solemn Mac (talk) 17:12, 27 February 2024 (UTC)
To answer your first question, most users can't delete pages (including template pages); that ability is restricted to admin or higher staff members. You'll need to put the {{delete}} template at the top of the page you want deleted, and an admin will come by later and delete it for you. To answer your second question, there's no way to limit a parameter's values; if the template doesn't work with a certain value, it doesn't work. Editors need to be careful that they're using acceptable values for the templates they call. Template documentation exists to help users know what the acceptable values for a parameter are. {{MastersRoleCell}} and {{MastersMissionTable}} are good examples of templates that require specific values for some of their parameters, and they have good documentation to help editors use them properly. Storm Aurora (talk) 19:13, 27 February 2024 (UTC)
Thank you for teaching me new things! I learned a lot! Solemn Mac (talk) 21:32, 27 February 2024 (UTC)
I'm sorry; this will look like more work, and I'm afraid that the latter question is going to look weird. But I wish to present four certain icons in a way that makes all of us happy!
  1. Is it a ridiculous idea to change the names of the four move-gauge pictures to the following: Move gauge 1-slot icon, Move gauge 3-slot icon, etc.?
  2. For each aforementioned picture, are you against placing a hyphen between the number and the word slot (example: 1-slot) due to those two forming one compound modifier that comes before the noun it describes, the word icon? Very humbly, Solemn Mac (talk) 19:49, 28 February 2024 (UTC)
Hmmm. I'm not really a fan of using the term "icon" for a screenshot of the move gauge. I wonder, maybe it would be easier to just use the sprite that's used to represent move gauge slots in the in-game menus? Then the template could just display the image multiple times to represent multiple move gauge slots. That would make it easier to update the template later if they ever decide to add five- or six-gauge moves. If you're good with that solution, I can upload that image. Storm Aurora (talk) 05:55, 29 February 2024 (UTC)
Thank you for sharing your thoughts before implementing your plan! So, how will you upload that image? Solemn Mac (talk) 15:22, 29 February 2024 (UTC)
Icon uploaded here! (I also uploaded an image of Grass Wish while I was at it.) Storm Aurora (talk) 20:28, 29 February 2024 (UTC)
Wow, your sources sure are clean! I will use that icon, then!
Also, let's delete the four move-gauge pictures that I have uploaded. We don't need them anymore!
And, of course, thank for uploading an image of Grass Wish! Solemn Mac (talk) 20:49, 29 February 2024 (UTC)
Yep, the icon's cropped directly from a sprite sheet. I can delete the four move gauge pictures, but they're currently being used on pages right now, and I don't want to leave red links. Can you replace those with the new icon? Storm Aurora (talk) 21:10, 29 February 2024 (UTC)
Oh, sure! Solemn Mac (talk) 21:42, 29 February 2024 (UTC)
I have some bad news. I'm afraid that one outdated MG picture is being used in Boblers's MastersMove template, which has not been updated since Nov. 2, 2023.
On the plus side, though, I removed such images from everywhere else! So, you can at least delete the October-2023 one-, two-, and three-slot MG photographs now! By the way, what template allows me to repeat inputting a file X number of times? Solemn Mac (talk) 09:58, 1 March 2024 (UTC)
It's OK to edit another user's userspace page to remove redirect links, red links, and the like, so I've gone ahead and deleted the images and updated that template accordingly.
As for a template that allows you to repeatedly add a file...if this were any other coding language, I'd say just use a loop. Unfortunately, I don't know of any way to do loops in wikicode, so a switch statement will have to do. You can copy the one I just modified in Boblers' MastersMove template, if you like. Storm Aurora (talk) 17:51, 1 March 2024 (UTC)
Thank you for taking action and for granting me those permissions! I shall proceed with those in mind! Solemn Mac (talk) 06:04, 2 March 2024 (UTC)

Masters EX story appearances

I've been adding some missing story appearances to Masters EX characters' lists on said appearances. Namely, I've been adding non-speaking appearances. I presume those still count for the purposes of those lists, correct? --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 22:38, 21 November 2023 (UTC)

Yes, they do! I've added non-speaking appearances for some recent events as I play through them, but my lists are primarily sourced from the characters' quote pages, so non-speaking appearances generally slip through the cracks. You adding non-speaking appearances has really been a big help in that regard, so thank you! Storm Aurora (talk) 02:52, 22 November 2023 (UTC)
Good to hear! You're welcome! I figured that must've been the reason for their absence. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 11:06, 22 November 2023 (UTC)
In the newest Neo Champions event, there's one character appearance that only happens in a flashback without any dialogue. I also recall at least one similar incident in an earlier event (though I can't recall which event exactly). Are these appearances listed like any one appearance? Should there be a note that says "flashback", or should it be listed without such a note? --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 10:18, 6 December 2023 (UTC)
I've just been listing characters that appear in flashbacks like any other appearance, but perhaps a note that they only appeared in a flashback would be more appropriate. "Event type: Event name (flashback)", or something like that. There's one instance I can think of where a character never appears onscreen but has speaking lines, and I believe I just listed that as a normal appearance as well...I should probably add a note to that one, too. Storm Aurora (talk) 17:26, 6 December 2023 (UTC)
Sounds fitting. Yeah, let's do it that way. Thanks. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 21:54, 6 December 2023 (UTC)

SV Adventures

Regarding Special:Diff/3897097, I meant to say that while most other media (games, anime, etc) have depicted only one academy, and the academies are mostly depicted as exclusive to each other, Adventures was the first where both were confirmed to exist within the same continuity. Do you think this theory holds true or if there is a better way to word it? → PikaTepig999 22:41, 3 January 2024 (UTC)

Since I can't read Japanese, I don't know how much is said about Naranja Academy other than the fact that Scarlet supposedly transferred from there, and I don't think the academy itself appeared. So I don't know if it's really been "confirmed to exist", and I'd rather play it safe in case there's a plot twist that Naranja Academy isn't the school she transferred from or something.
If you want to keep the trivia in, I'd suggest making it a sub-bullet point, since "This is the first media to show Uva and Naranja Academy coexisting" is a separate but related piece of trivia. Storm Aurora (talk) 23:23, 3 January 2024 (UTC)
I guess there's no harm in waiting for the next chapter for more info, then. I should also mention that like with anime, we do add information on what we know, and it gets changed after more information is revealed. → PikaTepig999 23:54, 3 January 2024 (UTC)

Template:Masters

Since you work on Masters pages the most, I thought I'd bring this to you. I wrote up documentation for the Masters Pokémon template. Can you check if it is correct and ready for the mainspace/templatespace? → PikaTepig999 07:32, 5 January 2024 (UTC)

Looks good overall. The suggestions I'd make are:
  • In the "ndex" and "ndex2" parameter notes, it'd make more sense to link to the category for Masters Pokémon models. The suffixes should all be the same, but there are fewer Masters models to click through, so it's easier to find the specific Pokémon you're looking for. It also wouldn't hurt to mention something about the fact that the numbers should be padded to 4 digits (we recently moved all the Masters models and icons to use 4-digit padding).
  • There are no unknown type Pokémon or moves in Masters, so "Unknown" doesn't need to be listed as an allowed value for parameters involving type.
  • An explanation of the "moveX" parameter would be helpful. I think it's currently only used for Gladion, but if somebody ever forms a sync pair with Arceus, this parameter would probably be used for them too.
  • For the "base" parameter, the inputs aren't entirely self-explanatory, so it'd be helpful to explain the difference between # and #EX, and that 6 is the same as 5EX.
  • Is "—" really a valid input for stats? I can't think of any instances where a Pokémon doesn't have a stat.
  • Can we make "yes" the intended input for "mega" instead of "1"? It's a more intuitive input to someone who's unfamiliar with code, and it'd be consistent with how moveX works.
There's a few minor wording tweaks I'd like to make, but those can wait until it's mainspaced. Storm Aurora (talk) 21:25, 5 January 2024 (UTC)
Feel free to edit the page while it is in my userspace as well. I actually used most of the existing docs as a starting point, so customizing this documentation with the Masters category is a GREAT idea. (I should probably also do that for the Unite documentations too.)
  • For the stats if the stats parameter is not enter, it displays "—". It should be removed though, so that the stats can be treated as necessary parameters.
  • I did search a lot for what the "moveX" meant, couldn't figure out how it exactly worked.
  • The "mega" parameter uses the #ifexpr keyword, so I think it requires a number. Either way, the template itself will be needed to be changed.
I've made these changes, if you have any more feel free to edit the page directly. Also let me know if there are any more Masters templates in need of documentation, I enjoy working on them. → PikaTepig999 21:50, 5 January 2024 (UTC)
Swapped the "mega" parameter to use #ifeq instead of #ifexpr, so now "yes" and "1" are equally acceptable parameters. I've updated the documentation accordingly (along with those other wording tweaks I mentioned earlier), so I think it's good to be mainspaced. The default parameter being "—" is just so the template page displays nicely, same reason why the default name is "Pikachu", the type is "Electric", and so on.
If you'd like to write up some other Masters template documentation, it looks like {{MastersInfobox}} and {{MastersEventInfobox}} don't have any. {{MastersMissionTable}} has documentation, but it's not the most user-friendly (have fun trying to find the purpose of a specific parameter). It's lovely prose, but template documentation is not the place for that, lol. So if you want to convert that to a table, that'd be helpful too. If you have any questions about those templates, let me know! Storm Aurora (talk) 23:49, 5 January 2024 (UTC)

(resetting indent) I'm done with Template:MastersInfobox/doc. Can you please can add {{documentation}} to {{MastersInfobox}}? Might also be a good idea to change the includeonly category to have a nocat paramater or atleast exclude the template namespace, so that the documentation is not included in Category:Masters EX characters. → PikaTepig999 22:53, 6 January 2024 (UTC)

Done! Storm Aurora (talk) 01:08, 7 January 2024 (UTC)

(resetting indent) How does MastersMissionTable/doc look now? → PikaTepig999 22:07, 9 January 2024 (UTC)

Looks good! I made a couple tweaks to it as well. Storm Aurora (talk) 01:44, 10 January 2024 (UTC)

(resetting indent) Done with Template:MastersEventInfobox/doc as well. → PikaTepig999 05:50, 10 January 2024 (UTC)

Looks great! Realized today that {{PairDexEgg}} and {{PairDexEgg2}}, which are only used on the Egg Pokémon page, don't have any documentation. Solemn Mac usually handles that page and I'm sure he knows exactly how they work, but if you'd like to make documentation for those templates, it'd be helpful! Storm Aurora (talk) 22:05, 10 January 2024 (UTC)
I was able to make a combined documentation for those two at Template:PairDexEgg/doc. → PikaTepig999 11:53, 14 January 2024 (UTC)

(resetting indent)Hello again. Do you think it'd be good idea to make the size parameter in {{MastersInfobox}} optional? Most pages use 200px anyway, and it'd be a lot easier to just have that as the default value in there, instead of having to specifiy that for every template call. → PikaTepig999 19:59, 14 March 2024 (UTC)

That makes sense, though in practice I'd imagine it doesn't make much of a difference because it'd be easier to copy the template from another page/elsewhere on the page instead of writing it out from scratch. I don't think it hurts anything, though, so I've gone ahead and added 200px as the default value for size. Does the TemplateData need to be modified or anything? Storm Aurora (talk) 20:20, 14 March 2024 (UTC)
Hehe, I'd already updated the TemplateData under the assumption that you'd add this default value in, so no need to update it. Thanks for helping out. Maybe I'll try to run AWB to remove the size parameter for infoboxes already on pages. → PikaTepig999 20:54, 14 March 2024 (UTC)
I suspected that was the case, lol. It's not a big deal since it's highly unlikely anyone would actually be using that particular template right now, but for the record, you generally shouldn't update the TemplateData before the template has been updated. It could have taken me a while to see your message, or I could have decided not to make the change, for example. Removing the size parameter for infoboxes already on pages would be helpful, so if we ever decide to change the default size in the future, it can be easily applied to all pages. Storm Aurora (talk) 21:26, 14 March 2024 (UTC)

Masters EX moves

Good job with all those edits on move articles. Are you also adding missing moves to them as you go? I try to help out on any Masters-related thing I happen to come across. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 20:10, 23 January 2024 (UTC)

Yes, I'm working through all the moves on the list of moves in Masters in alphabetical order to make sure the individual move pages match it, including adding moves that are missing. There's a bunch of Masters-related formatting stuff that I've been working on lately, and if you want to help with any of them, that'd be great!
  • We recently moved all the Masters Pokémon images to use four-digit padding. The old filenames are preserved as redirects so that previous revisions of pages don't break completely, but since four-digit numbers are the new standard, we need to change all those images to link to the current name. (I've seen you doing some of this on pages that use the PairDex template, and that's super helpful!)
  • We have a new template, {{sync}}, that's used for linking directly to a specific Pokémon section on a character's page. The documentation explains how to use it, if you're unsure. This template can replace all instances of a Trainer and Pokémon being linked to individually, such as in the tables on the sync move page, as well as being a cleaner way to write direct links, such as what I did on the story event page.
  • I recently moved the sygna suit page to match its in-game capitalization, and there's still a lot of pages that need to be relinked so they're not linking to the redirect. In particular, there's a ton of quotes pages that still need relinking.
  • Not specifically Masters-related, but we're trying to move away from using tooltips as much as possible, since they're unusable on mobile. Information in tooltips should generally be removed (if it's superfluous) or moved somewhere else. (I have not removed the tooltips used in availability sections yet because I haven't been able to figure out a good way to indicate when a banner is paid-gem-only or to indicate when a character is battling in a different outfit than usual.)
  • Speaking of availability sections, at Tiddlywinks' suggestion, we're moving availability (how/when a sync pair can be obtained) into the section for that sync pair, between the Pokémon's infobox and moves. The former availability section is being renamed "appearances". Also on sync pair pages, we've made some tweaks to {{Masters}} so that an alternate form (such as a Mega Evolution) can be displayed inside the infobox, rather than having its own section underneath. In addition, the article that the Pokémon name links to can now be overridden, so a Trainer's Pokémon page can be linked to instead of the generic species page. Lastly, I've started renaming the "Other" section to "Other Pokémon", so it's a little more clear when reading the table of contents what that section is about.
It's a lot, so obviously I don't expect you to help with all of it... But if you can make some of these changes while you're editing a page for some other reason, that'd be a big help <3 Storm Aurora (talk) 21:23, 23 January 2024 (UTC)
Good to hear. Just wanted to make sure.
  • Yeah, notice the four-digit thing, which honestly didn't come as a surprise, after it has already been out to use elsewhere on the site. As soon as Paldea Pokémon started appearing in Masters EX, it was pretty much inevitable. As you've mentioned, I've been adding this new format to PairDex lists, usually going systematically with one region at a time.
  • Noticed the new "sync" template being used too, and have already tried it out at least once. Took me about a literal minute for me to get over the fact that this template removes links to individual Pokémon articles of such exist, but that was over quickly, and I'm more than fine with using this template as well.
  • Yeah, noticed the multitude of Sygna Suit redirect links that still need fixing. A daunting task, but we should get it done little by little.
  • As a user who mainly relies on a mobile device, I can completely understand.
  • Also noticed the relocation of the availability sections, which is perfectly fine by me, and have helped to move it on a couple pages already. And the "Other" to "Other Pokémon" change is perfectly fine by me too.
So overall, yeah, I'm familiar with all these changes, as well as the sheet multitude of pages that must be edited to fully put them in effect, but I'm more than ready to help whenever and wherever I can. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 22:29, 23 January 2024 (UTC)
Also, looking forward to you adding more missing story appearance sections whenever you can. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 23:58, 23 January 2024 (UTC)
Working on it! I usually add missing story appearances while I'm updating the character's quotes page (helps me catch formatting errors), so it might take a while to get through all of them. If a character appears in an event but doesn't have a story appearances section already, feel free to make one with just that appearance—I've got all the Masters character pages on my watchlist, so I'll see that you added it and expedite filling out the rest of that character's story appearances. Storm Aurora (talk) 20:55, 24 January 2024 (UTC)
Thanks! I was previously hesitant on adding story appearances in case I missed some, but today I realized that I can just use the quote pages to check where each character has appeared, so I feel more secure about giving it a try now. And yeah, I noticed you like adding quotes and story appearances together. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 21:29, 24 January 2024 (UTC)
I noticed that many story appearance sections say "<character> appears in his/her normal outfit in the following story areas", even if said character only has one possible outfit. I take this is something that's spread out due to copy-paste? --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 23:03, 27 January 2024 (UTC)
It was an intentional decision I made for two reasons: one, it's easier to copy-paste if they all have the same wording; two, when a character gets a new outfit, we don't have to remember to go back and change the wording of the first section. The only characters that I haven't included the "normal outfit" bit on are generic NPCs, because I don't see them ever having a reason to give a generic NPC an alternate outfit. However, If you want to go through and remove the "normal outfit" bit from all the other characters that don't currently have alts, I don't mind. Storm Aurora (talk) 00:46, 28 January 2024 (UTC)
I understand. I just went and removed the "normal outfit" bits from the few story appearance lists I've added since finding that out, but I can stop doing that just fine for the reasons you listed. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 01:31, 28 January 2024 (UTC)

Is Leekduck an acceptable source for information here?

I know that serebii isn't allowed to be used as one, but what about leekduck? I wanted to update the available Shadow Pokemon in GO using this https://leekduck.com/rocket-lineups/ ¿¡Unowninator?! (talk) 22:48, 26 January 2024 (UTC)

I'm not sure. Let me check with the other 'pedia staff and I'll get back to you. Storm Aurora (talk) 02:05, 27 January 2024 (UTC)
Much obliged. Until I {know I) can use it, I have to update the shadows manually one by one based off what I encounter; I'd rather edit them all at once. ¿¡Unowninator?! (talk) 13:08, 27 January 2024 (UTC)
Just realized I never got an answer (although I blame the maintanence for that and not you). I don't need it now, but I'd like to know for the future. ¿¡Unowninator?! (talk) 05:27, 11 March 2024 (UTC)
Sorry! You're right, I completely forgot about responding because of the maintenance. Our usual stance is that game data is game data, so as long as they're datamining it themselves and not modifying it in any way, it should be fine for us to use. (Serebii has been known to do that.) My general approach for using unknown sources is to verify that some of the data is accurate to what I can observe in-game; if so, it's probably safe to copy the rest of the information. But I'll still make sure to verify the rest of the information in-game as well, as I'm able. Storm Aurora (talk) 07:03, 11 March 2024 (UTC)

Holiday sync pairs

Around last Christmas, I figured that since the holiday sync pairs are released around Christmas time, they'd fit right in on Bulbapedia's Christmas article. So I added them there. During the last few days, I've started to think if the word "Holiday" could be linked to "Christmas" whenever used in reference to a holiday sync pair, like on the sync pair list, for example. I just wanted to ask what you think of the idea before I started doing it. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 18:09, 5 March 2024 (UTC)

I completely forgot we even had a Christmas article, lol. I think it's fine to put the list of holiday sync pairs there, but I don't know about linking to it every time "Holiday" is mentioned, since the in-universe holiday isn't really named. It'd make more sense if all the seasonal pairs linked to the seasonal event page, which is currently not a page and just a section on the story event page. It'd need to be made into a full page before we start linking to it. Storm Aurora (talk) 19:47, 5 March 2024 (UTC)
Your points make sense. I'll just leave things as they are (to be specific, I only intended to mention it at the sync pair list and the intro of every character article that has a holiday sync pair). --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 21:15, 5 March 2024 (UTC)

Masters EX topics

Creating a genetic header to talk about Masters EX things without always having to create a new header. My first idea is something in honestly surprised hadn't crossed my mind until just now. For every Masters EX character, their core series counterpart's page lists what sync pairs they can form, while the list matches the color of their first sync pair's type. However, while this is fine for type expert sync pairs, what about sync pairs who are not type specialists? Should their list colors match the general color theme of their article instead of the type of their sync pair? And if a type expert sync pair's primary sync pair's type doesn't match their specialty type, should it be changed to match their specialty type instead? --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 09:41, 18 March 2024 (UTC)

After taking a look at a few articles of non-type specialists, it seems like all tables on their pages have the same color scheme except the TCG tables (which use TCG colors), tables for individual Pokémon (which use that Pokémon's type), and the Masters tables. With that in mind, I feel like it'd make the most sense for the Masters tables' color scheme to match the color scheme of the whole page, unless the character only forms one sync pair, in which case it should be treated like an individual Pokémon's table and have a color scheme matching the sync pair's type. This would apply to both non-type specialists and type specialists. So in the case of type specialists whose primary sync pair doesn't match their specialty type, it'd be changed to match their specialty type if they form multiple sync pairs (i.e. Raihan) and stay as the sync pair's type if they only form one sync pair (i.e. Hala). That's my suggestion, but as always you're welcome to disagree. Storm Aurora (talk) 17:45, 18 March 2024 (UTC)
Sounds good to me. I'll get to it, then. And speaking of Hala, he's the only type specialist in Masters EX who doesn't form a sync pair with a Pokémon me matching his specialty type, so I'm not sure how we should deal with him. With everything else, I agree with you completely. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 21:53, 18 March 2024 (UTC)
Like I said, since he only forms one sync pair, I think it makes sense to keep using the Ice color for his table. It's not the only table on his page that doesn't use Fighting color (the Alola first partners, his Bewear in Adventures, etc). Storm Aurora (talk) 22:43, 18 March 2024 (UTC)
Since it's only one exception, sure, I don't mind. I think I got all the other pages sorted now. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 00:07, 19 March 2024 (UTC)
Awesome, thanks! Storm Aurora (talk) 00:17, 19 March 2024 (UTC)
You're welcome! Glad to have helped! Wasn't easy with some characters, but I think I got it to work on everyone! --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 00:20, 19 March 2024 (UTC)
Some new EX roles have been added, but I don't know their exact release dates, so I've been unable to add them to the EX role list. Can you help? --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 08:29, 5 April 2024 (UTC)
Sure, I'll take a look in a sec. Storm Aurora (talk) 17:09, 5 April 2024 (UTC)

Maki

Hi! So I replied to you but still haven't gotten any response back, could you let me know if I could add you on discord? My user is ethirium_ if you need. Thanks!--Ethirium (talk) 13:37, 24 March 2024 (UTC)

I've replied on your talk page. I saw that you had responded, but I didn't have time to read the response then, and then I forgot to go back later to read it when I had time. So, my apologies for that. Storm Aurora (talk) 20:30, 24 March 2024 (UTC)

Fixed! Well, kind of. I discussed it with other staff, and we ended up just removing the second parameter entirely. But thanks for bringing it to our attention! Storm Aurora (talk) 05:52, 29 March 2024 (UTC)

Infobox

A few days ago, when you edited the infobox template to include the possibility of adding a Pokémon's Tera Type, over on Discord, I asked if the link should encompass the entire term "Tera Type" instead of just the "Tera" part, given that "Tera Type" is the full term. I didn't see you responding, so I decided to post the same question here just in case you missed it there. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 08:29, 5 April 2024 (UTC)

I thought I responded to that, but idk, maybe I got distracted by something else. I don't really have a preference either way, but I suppose it does make more sense to have the whole row label be a link and not just one word of it. I've gone ahead and edited the infobox. Storm Aurora (talk) 17:09, 5 April 2024 (UTC)
It could be that I just missed your response, but regardless, thanks. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 17:59, 5 April 2024 (UTC)

Nemona's Sync Move quote in Pokemon Masters EX

"I'm gonna see you stand up to this!" is where in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet game scene?

Is this in battles in those games or unique to Pokemon Masters? PMat331 (talk)PMat331

Her sync move quote is actually "I wanna see you stand up to this", and per her quote page, she says it while battling you after defeating your fifth Gym Leader in Scarlet and Violet.
Also, for future reference, you should use four tildes (~~~~) to sign a talk page comment. That ensures that your signature includes your name, a link to your userpage, a link to your talk page, and the timestamp. (That last bit is why it's discouraged to add a signature to your talk page comment later, as it will cause an incorrect timestamp to be placed.) Storm Aurora (talk) 22:58, 17 April 2024 (UTC)

No worries! We all have to learn somehow. On that note, another talk page tip: we recommend that you indent your talk page comments, with each successive comment starting with one more colon than the previous comment. This makes the conversation a little easier to follow! See the other conversations on this talk page for examples of what that looks like. Storm Aurora (talk) 23:20, 17 April 2024 (UTC)
