Trainer Files
Trainer Files (Japanese: トレーナーズファイル Trainers File) is a type of limited-time event in Pokémon Masters EX. These events are similar to solo events, in that the only story areas they contain are an introductory story area and an additional story area that is unlocked after completing battles to collect a certain number of event items. However, Trainer Files events focus certain groups of Trainers, such as the Kanto Elite Four or the Akala Island Trial Captains, and the stories are driven by the values and relationships of the focal characters.
In addition, the sync pairs featured in Trainer Files events are exclusively available in variety scouts.
Kanto Elite Four (Part 1)
This event ran from April 20 to May 14, 2023. This event was focused on Lorelei and Bruno. The "Lorelei Variety Scout" gave players an increased chance of recruiting Lorelei & Cloyster for the duration of the event, and the "Bruno Variety Scout" gave players an increased chance of recruiting Bruno & Onix starting on April 22, 2023 and lasting until the end of the event.
During this event, players could earn Event Vouchers H from battles that could be redeemed in the shop. All battles could be challenged an unlimited number of times except Daily Extreme Battle 1, which could only be challenged once per day. Extra vouchers were automatically exchanged with coins once the event was finished.
The player could battle using Lorelei and Cloyster or Bruno and Onix to obtain +0.6× bonus vouchers; and any unlisted sync pairs with the Kanto or
Elite Four theme skills to earn +0.2× bonus vouchers.

Akala Passion
This event ran from June 21 to August 4, 2023. This event was focused on the Akala Island Trial Captains, with particular focus on Kiawe and Mallow. The "Kiawe Variety Scout" gave players an increased chance of recruiting Kiawe & Arcanine for the duration of the event, and the "Mallow Variety Scout" gave players an increased chance of recruiting Mallow & Shiinotic starting on June 23, 2023 and lasting until the end of the event.
During this event, players could earn Event Vouchers Z from battles that could be redeemed in the shop. All battles could be challenged an unlimited number of times except Daily Extreme Battle 1, which could only be challenged once per day. Extra vouchers were automatically exchanged with coins once the event was finished.
The player could battle using Kiawe and Arcanine or Mallow and Shiinotic to obtain +0.6× bonus vouchers; Lana and Araquanid to obtain +0.4× bonus vouchers; and any unlisted Alola sync pairs to obtain +0.2× bonus vouchers.
Plot
Kiawe, Lana, and Mallow are trying Cilan, Chili, and Cress's specialty tea. It's delicious, and the triplets attribute this to their teamwork with Grass, Fire, and Water. This gives Mallow the idea to try making a dish with Kiawe and Lana, since they're also specialists of those three types. She doesn't want to make the same Mallow Special that they use for the trials, though, so they'll have to come up with a new recipe. Cilan asks to try their dish when it's done.
After a while, the two trios meet back up to try the dish. However, Kiawe, Mallow, and Lana insist that even though it's finished, they can't eat it yet; they have to wait a little longer, with Kiawe's Arcanine keeping it warm while they wait. When night falls, the dish suddenly starts glowing, and Mallow explains that's due to the effect of her Shiinotic's spores. Cilan has heard that Shiinotic's spores glow in the dark to send its prey to sleep, and Cress worries it's not safe to eat. Mallow assures him it's fine, and the triplets try the dish. The taste is a bit peculiar, and it starts to make them sleepy, but suddenly it becomes unbearably spicy, so Lana's Araquanid cools them down. Mallow asks them what they thought of the dish, which has been dubbed the "Akala Trio Special", and they say that it was a unique dining experience that couldn't have been accomplished by anyone else.

Cilan | What do you think of our specialty tea? |
Lana | It was very tasty! |
Kiawe | Yeah, I could feel it flow through my body. On top of that, the temperature was just right. |
Chili | I'm not surprised, considering I poured the hot water at the perfect temperature! |
Cress | And I, Cress, prepared the purest water... |
Cilan | And I chose the tea leaves—which are vital—with confidence. Our teamwork—using Grass, Fire, and Water—creates the best tea! |
Mallow | Hmm... |
Kiawe | What's wrong, Mallow? There's no way you didn't like the tea, right? |
Mallow | The tea was really tasty. That's why... we should try it too! The three of us teaming up and cooking! |
Lana | I see. We are Captains of Grass, Fire, and Water, just like them. |
Kiawe | Wait. Have you forgotten, Mallow? We have our own teamwork too! |
Mallow | Huh? |
Kiawe | I bring the Thick Club and Rare Bone... |
Lana | And I, Lana, bring the Fresh Water and Rocky Helmet as usual... |
Kiawe | and you take the collected ingredients and smack 'em and crush 'em, grind 'em, and turn 'em into goo for— |
Mallow | The Mallow Special is for the trials! I want to make something else! |
Kiawe | I see... Then we'll have to come up with another recipe. |
Cress | This sounds interesting. |
Cilan | When your dish is done, please let us have a try. |
Mallow | Of course! We'll make a dish just as good as your perfect tea! |

Cilan | You three perfected your team-up cooking, right?
Chili | But why at this hour?
Cress | It seems the dish is already made, but can we not eat it yet?
Kiawe | Arcanine will make sure the dish doesn't get cold. Please wait.
Chili | Whoa! | |
Cilan | The dish is glowing!
Cress | This is beautiful... How did you do it?
Mallow | The secret is Shiinotic's spores!
Chili | Wh-whaaat?! | |
Cilan | I did hear that Shiinotic's spores glow in the dark. But they're meant to send its prey to sleep...
Cress | Is...is it safe for people to eat?
Mallow | Yep! Don't worry about that!
Lana | Please eat up! | |
Cilan | W-well then... | |
Cress | Hmm...very peculiar, but...there's something about it...
Chili | Uh... I think I am starting to get a bit sleepy after all...
Cilan | !!! | |
Cress | It-it's spicy all of a sudden?!
Chili | S-SPICY!!! | |
Lana | Now, come over here.
Cilan | Phew... | |
Mallow | So, what do you think of the "Akala Trio Special"? We arranged it so when you start feeling sleepy from the spores, the spice from the Tamato Berry wakes you up!
Cilan | It...it was quite a thrilling dining experience...
Cress | I don't think anyone can copy this unconventional idea.
Chili | I think that comes from the quality of the ingredients—and by that, I mean you three!
Two Factory Heads
This event ran from October 5 to 19, 2023. It was focused on the Factory Heads Thorton and Noland. The "Thorton Variety Scout" gave players an increased chance of recruiting Thorton & Magnezone for the duration of the event, and the "Noland Variety Scout" gave players an increased chance of recruiting Noland & Ninjask starting on October 7, 2023 and lasting until the end of the event.
During this event, players could earn Event Vouchers N from battles that could be redeemed in the shop. All battles could be challenged an unlimited number of times except Daily Extreme Battle 1, which could only be challenged once per day. Extra vouchers were automatically exchanged with coins once the event was finished.
The player could battle using Thorton and Magnezone or Noland and Ninjask to obtain +0.6× bonus vouchers; Sawyer and Honchkrow to obtain +0.4× bonus vouchers; and any unlisted Battle Facility Foe sync pairs to obtain +0.2× bonus vouchers.
Plot
Sawyer calls Thorton and Noland to the Battle Villa to help him with a problem they've been having with two of the rental Pokémon that they lend to Trainers on Pasio. These Pokémon have rough dispositions and refuse to get along with anyone, which is a problem since rental Pokémon are often given to inexperienced Trainers. Since the Battle Factory also uses rental Pokémon, Sawyer hopes that the Factory Heads will be able to win over these two ornery Pokémon. Thorton and Noland are eager to take on the challenge. Thorton wants to work with the Magnezone, so Noland agrees to partner with the Ninjask.
A while later, Thorton, Noland, and Sawyer meet up with Steven and Cynthia, who are very impressed by how cooperative and powerful the rental Pokémon have become. Unfortunately, when they try to have Magnezone and Ninjask be used by novice Trainers, they are just as disobedient as before. Noland and Thorton realize that Ninjask and Magnezone won't listen to any Trainers besides them, and Thorton apologizes that they weren't able to live up to Sawyer's expectations. However, Sawyer says he's just glad to see them listen to any Trainers at all, and he asks Thorton and Noland if they'd be willing to take Magnezone and Ninjask as their partner Pokémon. The two Factory Heads are happy to oblige, as the two Pokémon will be much happier with them than as rental Pokémon.

Thorton | "Rowdy rental Pokémon"? |
Sawyer | That's right. We have a rental service for Pokémon so anyone can enjoy battling here. But a couple of those rental Pokémon refuse to get along with anyone. They've become quite a handful. |
Noland | Huh! They sound pretty interesting to me! |
Sawyer | Yeah, I've got a soft spot for Pokémon with a bit of pride in 'em. But it's concerning when rental Pokémon have rough dispositions. Since they're often paired up with pretty inexperienced Trainers. So I wanted to ask you Factory Heads for help. I've heard that the Battle Factory also utilizes rental Pokémon... And I figured that the leaders of such a place may be able to win over these two. |
Thorton | Fine with me! Rental Pokémon that are hard to handle? Sounds like fun! |
Noland | Yeah! Sounds like a great way to put our Factory Head skills to use! |
Sawyer | Really? Thanks, both of ya! May as well introduce you right now, then. |
Thorton | Wow! They're just like you said! |
Noland | I like the look of these two! |
Thorton | *offscreen*Bzweeeeep! Hmm... I see... *onscreen*I rather like this Magnezone. |
Noland | That leaves this Ninjask to me, then! Hey, my name's Noland! Nice to meet ya, buddy! |
Sawyer | Sorry for the trouble. I'll leave you to it! |

Steven | Those are some great Pokémon! They seem so cooperative...and more importantly, powerful! |
Cynthia | Yes, I'd never have guessed that they were rental Pokémon! It's times like this that make Pokémon battle facilities so irresistible to me. Whenever I see one, I can't help but go inside! |
Steven | Haha, I understand the feeling! |
Sawyer | (Getting the stamp of approval from Champions...) (I was definitely right to ask those two! It worked, young master!) |
Rising Star | Awww! Please, just LISTEN to me! |
Sawyer | Wha—?! Wh-what's going on?! |
Thorton | Bzweeeeep! Hmm... I'd say they've improved by about, say, one percent? |
Noland | You mean... ...they've got no intention of obeying any Trainers other than us? |
Sawyer | Hmm... What to do... |
Thorton | Sorry we weren't able to live up to your expectations. |
Sawyer | No, no, don't worry about it. I was just happy to see these two listen to any Trainers at all. Actually... I wanted to ask you, Noland and Thornton[sic]... Would you be willing to take Magnezone and Ninjask as your partners? |
Thorton | Huh? You wouldn't mind? |
Sawyer | Not at all. Now that they've acknowledged your strength, I think they'd be happier with you than as rental Pokémon. |
Noland | Huh, well in that case, we'd be happy to take 'em! |
Thorton | Hmm... I'd say our affinity is around, say, one hundred percent? |
