Movie 11?
Sould we add something about the 11th Pokémon movie on to the page? Wikipedia already has an article about it and they also have a picture of Regigigas tearing up the ground --Ryguy
- I guess something about the movie should be added to this article. Given how little information there is, however, I'm wary about starting an article for it already. --Pie ~♪♫ 17:34, 2 August 2007 (UTC)
Mewtwo Returns
What about this movie? Why isn't it mentioned? JmathTalk 15:40, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
- TV special in Japan, direct to video (VHS and DVD) in America.
- Additionally, Mewtwo Returns is mentioned under the "Long specials" heading. --Shiningpikablu252 17:29, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
Posters
Shouldn't the American ones be here? This is an english wiki. Porygon-Z 22:47, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
- Do American posters even exist? The movies don't air in cinemas outside Japan these days. --FabuVinny |Talk Page| 17:26, 28 June 2008 (UTC)
Canon, canon, canon...
Why the heck would they not be canon? Right there, it says that several have been referenced. It's like saying May's Venusaur could still be a guy because we don't know if the seed in the flower could mean it's a dude in the anime. Has every past episode been referenced? No. Some have been outright IGNORED. Does that mean those didn't happen, either? TTEchidna 16:35, 28 June 2008 (UTC)
- With movie 8 blatently having an effect on the main protagonist that carries over into the series, I really don't see how people can argue that they aren't canon. --FabuVinny |Talk Page| 16:58, 28 June 2008 (UTC)
- It's likely because there are no new captures which happen in the movies. It's like, do people think they would ever do that? Have one episode where Ash is like "OKAY CHIMCHAR, TIME TO GO!" and then the next, it's suddenly a Monferno. The movies aren't free, the show's on TV... which is kinda free. TTEchidna 01:15, 29 June 2008 (UTC)
- So, what's our ruling here? Should we mention that some fans consider the movies to be non-canon because they're hardly mentioned in the show, but not say outright that they aren't? Should we say "the movies are canon, you idiots!" and blow the whole section? TTEchidna 03:58, 6 July 2008 (UTC)
- I somewhat agree. I'd say that they are canon. Also, about your statement about how they can't have movie references in the anime due to the movies "Not being free", it doesn't exactly explain how Aura was carried over from the 8th movie into the anime, how Ash recognized Lucario, Ash and James referencing the Orange Islands Lugia, The Space-Time Tower's cameo, the scenes from the first movie being incorporated into the anime, Drew's hometown, the Deoxys special reference, and all that. Movie 12
There is supposed to be a preview of movie 12 next week it shows a preveiw here [1] wait till the end it says the went to some anceint ruins possibly greece? seems like the perfect place for arceus considering the appearance of the spear pillarTsg812 15:34, 25 September 2008 (UTC)
- I considered Arceus in that movie possibly, but now is a fact. However, we still have to wait official sources --Nick. 03:10, 6 October 2008 (UTC)}
- Should we create this page now? Something like "Pikachu Project 2009", the 11th movie article was created in August, now we are in October and I think that we have enough information... --Nick. 23:09, 6 October 2008 (UTC)
- Uh, ok... but... why the Thursday? --Nick. 23:25, 6 October 2008 (UTC)
- A new episode of Pokémon premieres every thursday, like in America it premieres in English on Cartoon network every Saturday~Ποκεμανιακα0β 23:26, 6 October 2008 (UTC)
- Uh, ok... but... why the Thursday? --Nick. 23:25, 6 October 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, I know that, but this Thurday we won't have new episode. --Nick. 15:46, 7 October 2008 (UTC)
The official web has been updated with the new movie... I think it's time --Nick. 15:41, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
- It's probably still a little early for the article but I added what we know to this page. --FabuVinny |Talk Page| 16:33, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
No Bias Please!
Isn't it a bit biassed to say that the movies have recently increased in quality? I thought this was supposed to be an encyclopedia! (Anyway, I thought Pokémon Heroes was much better than The Rise of Darkrai! Taromon 777

DVD info
I'm not sure if this even has any importance, but since this *is* an encyclopedia of sorts... The US DVD releases of movies 4, 5, 6, and 7 are dual-layer disks, while every other movie and/or special I've seen is just SL (and I know for certain about all of them except LOT and GSW) of the. Should there perhaps be a mention of this? I'm also slightly baffled as to why this is, but that's the way it is, I guess. - unsigned comment from TheCakeIsALie (talk • contribs)
- I'm sure that can be worked in somewhere. —darklordtrom 08:36, 19 July 2009 (UTC)
MOVIE 13
Theres already a trailer for movie 13, shouldn't we make an article? Kamus 17:56, 30 July 2009 (UTC)
- There was an article for it, called "Pikachu Project 13" or something like that, but I think it got removed for some reason. Taromon777 18:55, 11 September 2009 (UTC)
I know that the trailer for the 13th movie was only viewable for audiences who saw the pre-release version of arceus: towards a conquering of time-space in japan, so we have to wait for after the release of HGSS, but if the trailer is somewhere online, provide a link.--Nobody777 11:49, 12 September 2009 (UTC)
- I find it hard to believe that no one would have linked to this yet... but the trailer can be found here. It's not great quality (and neither are the other versions of it I could find), but at this point a cam feed is pretty much all we're going to get. (My apologies if this had already been posted and discussed elsewhere.)
- I find it interesting that they used the "Diamond&Pearl&Platinum" logo that they used for the eleventh movie... did they use that for the twelfth also? 梅子❀✿ 17:54, 11 October 2009 (UTC)
The official site updated with the teaser trailer for Movie 13. [2] We should probably get an article for this made up soon. J-J-M 14:10, 13 October 2009 (UTC)
Running Time
I was wondering if we include the run time of pokemon movies. If we do already I apologise but I cant seem to find it anywhere and I think it would be helpful to include it for anyone planning to watch one of the movies to quickly see how long it will last. What do you think? --Klydefrog 10:10, 2 June 2010 (UTC)
- Sounds good. Work it into the first couple of paragraphs. —darklordtrom 01:19, 3 June 2010 (UTC)
Canon, again
Seriously. Who doesn't think the movies are canon? Is there anyone out there? TTEchidna 07:21, 1 September 2010 (UTC)
- To my mind the wording is fairly weak so it's kind of a non-issue. Someone wrote the section in the first place therefore there is someone out there who doesn't believe or doubts that they are canon thus it should remain. Also we are not here to pass down rulings on truth unless there has been any official confirmation one way or another. So it should remain as it is, a neutral account of a fandom argument representing both sides equally allowing readers and fans to come to their own conclusions. My two cents, refunds available.--Beligaronia (talk) 07:39, 1 September 2010 (UTC)
Pokémon Apokélypse
Does anyone know about Pokémon Apokélypse? If it even exists, shouldn't it be on the list since it is the first live action movie? SeanWheeler 00:36, 17 October 2010 (UTC)
Oh wait, it's a fake? That shouldn't be allowed on Wikipedia. SeanWheeler 00:42, 17 October 2010 (UTC)
- Even fakes have some notability. It's a well made short film in the guise of a trailer. Perhaps we should even have an article about it here (not on this page, mind you; but if we can have pages on webcomics, we might ought to have a page on this little endeavor). --AndyPKMN 00:47, 17 October 2010 (UTC)
- oh dear no, anything but that crap... Ataro 00:52, 17 October 2010 (UTC)
- Come on now, let's be reasonable. I think if Super Effective can have a page, this certainly deserves one. Regardless of your opinion on the film's quality, it was newsworthy when it was released (most fansites mentioned it in their news; I think even Bulbanews did), and there's certainly enough information to put into an article. --AndyPKMN 12:52, 17 October 2010 (UTC)
- Pretty sure Bulbanews didn't report it. —darklordtrom 11:25, 20 October 2010 (UTC)
- I agree with AndyPKMN...it appears that Pokémon Apokélypse is quite the notable short film, approaching nearly 7 million views on YouTube, and currently being one of the most viewed videos related to Pokémon. I would say that Bulbapedia should at least have some article on it. Various prominent videogaming sites have even reported on it as well, such as Kotaku, GamesRadar, GameInformer, and Joystiq... Even Wikipedia has something on it, and they normally skimp on Pokémon species articles... If we can have articles referencing webcomics, fansites, fangames, and hacks, an article detailing this film project certainly wouldn't be out of the question. Fenyx4 11:30, 14 April 2011 (UTC)

Aspect ratio
Can we keep a record of that? What versions were in what aspect ratio? Because that's actually useful information. Luna Tiger * the Arc Toraph 13:39, 20 July 2011 (UTC)
Movies Lenght
why the lenght of the movies isn't in the respective articles? I think this should be added. --SamuStar 20:36, 11 December 2011 (UTC)
Major events
Since there are rarely, if any, major events that pertain to the progression of the series, can the Debuts subsection on each movie page become the main section, with the major events main section headline removed?--SandmanDP 22:39, 26 January 2012 (UTC)
- Seems that the only movies that have the major events sections are 1 and 11. The others don't. So I guess we should follow how the majority of them are and remove the major events section. --ケンジのガール 00:10, 27 January 2012 (UTC)
Director
Why is the director (Kunihiko Yuyama) not mentioned anywhere on this page or the movies he's directed? --いぬみみ 21:52, 4 April 2012 (UTC)
Titles
The first movie's amendment "Mewtwo Strikes Back" isn't present on the poster or cover and thus only inside the movie. Still it's added as part of the title.
The third movie's poster and the title inside the movie have an "ENTEI" in Unown-letters added, but it's not added in the title. Furthermore the third movie's title inside the movie doesn't have an "3: The Movie" amendment.
Pokémon Heroes - after what's in the movie "Pokémon: Heroes: Latios & Latias" seem to be more fitting.
Also, why is it "Pokémon the First Movie - Mewtwo Strikes Back" and not "Pokémon: The First Movie - Mewtwo Strikes Back" as it is a "T" and not a "t" on the poster, cover and logo?
Thus: where do the titles come from resp. what are the 'correct' titles? -Bernd (talk) 18:13, 17 July 2012 (UTC)

M19 info has been released.
Hi.
Some info for M19 has been released on Toho's site. Namely, it will (obviously) be distributed by Toho for Japan, it will premiere on July 16th, 2016, its tentative title is Pokémon the movie XY & Z 2016, and the writer for the film is Atsuhiro Tomioka, again. We might need to create an article on M19 very soon if not now. Weedle Mchairybug (talk) 21:12, 11 December 2015 (UTC)
- More info has been unveiled. Namely, the main event Pokémon will be Volcanion, obviously, and the plot revealed that Volcanion dropped out of the sky and that he hates humans. However, he unwittingly had Ash tag along thanks to a device connecting them together, and they head over to Azoth Kingdom, featuring a lot of machinery, asking why he's going to the Azoth Kingdom. Really, shouldn't we be creating a new movie article by now? Weedle Mchairybug (talk) 21:07, 15 January 2016 (UTC)
Hoopa and the Clash of Ages poster?
Hey,
I was wondering if anyone else noticed this, but Movie 18, Hoopa and the Clash of Ages does have it's own poster... Right now though, it stealing Movie 16's poster. I can fix this if nobody else is. - unsigned comment from Mangos0FT0 (talk • contribs)
- The table is using the correct English poster for Hoopa and the Clash of Ages (M18 English poster.png), and has been since April 13, 2015. If you're seeing the poster for Genesect and The Legend Awakened, it's likely that your browser or device having a caching issue that's causing it to display the wrong poster to you. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 08:40, 7 June 2016 (UTC)

20th movie
Is this page permanently going to class "I Choose You" as a Sun & Moon series movie despite having nothing to do with it content-wise, or is it just until we knew more about it? TheFatPanda (talk) 20:14, 1 April 2017 (UTC)
- M20 is being released during the Sun & Moon series, which is why it's being listed there on pages which make the distinction. --Abcboy (talk) 20:51, 1 April 2017 (UTC)
- Two years later but I'm with FatPanda. None of the movies released during Sun & Moon have anything to do with Sun & Moon. Shouldn't it be call "Reboot series (released during Sun & Moon)"? That's what all 3 films are. Monkeyjb1988 (talk) 17:57, 20 April 2019 (UTC)
- Yes, they're "reboots", but they were still released during the Sun & Moon era. That's what it's saying, not that it's set in Alola.--ForceFire 05:07, 21 April 2019 (UTC)
- No. In Japan, the series of M20-M22 are officially named as 《劇場版ポケットモンスター》(literally Pocket Monsters the Movie), not Sun & Moon.--Tony (talk) 06:32, 5 May 2019 (UTC)
- It's also not saying that "Sun and Moon" are in the titles. As I said, it was released during the Sun and Moon series, not that it's titled after them nor is it saying that it's set in Alola.--ForceFire 06:46, 5 May 2019 (UTC)

- I think you are the one who don't understand. See the Chinese version of this page of Bulbapedia [3]. It is called 「劇場版 精靈寶可夢」.--Tony (talk) 08:46, 5 May 2019 (UTC)
- Just because the chinese wiki does it one way, doesn't mean we have to follow suit. We're an English wiki, so we're going to use English names or terms.--ForceFire 09:05, 5 May 2019 (UTC)
- The English term of 《劇場版ポケットモンスター》 is Pokemon the Movie.--Tony (talk) 12:52, 6 May 2019 (UTC)
- It's pretty clear that, judging by your recent edit to the article, we're not talking about the same thing. This section is talking about the section title "Sun and Moon", not what the Japanese name of the film series is called. The stuff at the beginning of the article, that's fine. But the section header should remain "Sun and Moon" as the movies were released during the Sun and Moon series.--ForceFire 14:28, 6 May 2019 (UTC)
- Well actually I don't want to say disagree at this moment because there is a ratherly stronger word, felt cheated. Yes I agree it is released between Sun and Moon series but the legitimate expectations is, characters exclusively from the Sun and Moon series should be included in the movie and it actually didn't. It goes too over when M22 is just a 3D remake of M01. If you tell me that M22 is a Sun and Moon series movie I would just felt cheated. So I think the stucture should be change when the situation is changed. KyleRGiggs 05:01, 4 November 2019 (UTC)

Detective Pikachu
Should information about the Detective Pikachu film be added, or is this list only for anime films? Where would a live-action film go? --GoldenSandslash15 (talk) 08:51, 13 August 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks for reminding me of the problem there. Movies and films are the same things. How about renaming to Pokémon anime movie to avoid disambiguation? KyleRGiggs 04:53, 4 November 2019 (UTC)
- That's dependent on what the site's expectations for Pokémon movie articles should be. Personally, I disagree and think we should create a different section for live-action Pokémon movies. So far, we only have one live-action movie (which is produced by Hollywood) and we have only one more underway, but we can't predict the future so we don't know how production will end up. We also don't know how successful enough the sequel will be to warrant another live-action film. An article that solely focuses on live-action films will be painfully short. GrammarFreak01 (talk) 08:00, 4 November 2019 (UTC)
Series inclusion
As the change being reverted with the reason when the movie released is given but I absolutely don't agree with it so a discussion is required actually. I am thinking of removing series of the movie released, as M22 is already absolutely not related to Sun and Moon series. Readers would felt cheated when they aimed to find an SM movie but the plot is totally not related to the characters in the SM series. At least I strongly felt like that. KyleRGiggs 04:43, 4 November 2019 (UTC)
- The franchise is changing, and Pokémon movies are no exceptions. Maybe having movies that don't have characters in the main anime series it's apart of is part of that change. Besides, as been clarified to you already, the movies were released during the Sun and Moon series, so they are a part of that series. Regardless of the movies not being set in Alola or having the same characters.--ForceFire 05:14, 4 November 2019 (UTC)
- Well I know there are some words there but that actually did nothing. What would a reader think when they look at the template without browsing this article. "Oh that is a Sun and Moon scheme color so that should be a Sun and Moon movie but found out that never achieved, is it a scam?" So the words in this article never solve this problem. KyleRGiggs 05:25, 4 November 2019 (UTC)
- I doubt our audience pays attention to the color schemes of the movie templates. Plus, if they read the article headers, they'd know right away the movies are not set in the SM timeline at all. I can't imagine us being sued for misleading a reader in this way. You're over-exaggerating. GrammarFreak01 (talk) 08:00, 4 November 2019 (UTC)
