Dugtrio live in tunnels and caves under the earth. They also sometimes live in burrows near forests where they maintain the soil plant trees to revitalize wooded areas.

- Pokémon Snap: In the Tunnel, a Diglett is playing with a Pikachu. Take enough pictures of the Diglett, and a Dugtrio pops out of the ground instead. Take more pictures of the Dugtrio, and a trio of Dugtrio will pop out of the ground.

Dugtrio first appeared in Dig Those Diglett. They working with Diglett to plant trees in a forest.

Name origin
Dugtrio's name is a combination of dug, the past tense of dig, and trio, meaning three.
