The Secret Key (Japanese: ひみつのカギ Secret Key) is a key event item available in Pokémon Platinum. It is only obtainable through an event. It is shaped like Rotom's head, with the outline of its eyes and mouth visible under the coat of Rotom-orange plastic. The key's teeth look like the prongs of an electrical plug. It was the first of four event items in the Sinnoh-based games, being followed by the Member Card, Oak's Letter and Azure Flute.
The Secret Key opens up Rotom's Room at the Galactic Eterna Building in Eterna City after it has been cleared. It contains five appliances necessary for Rotom to change between its six forms. Rowan comes in when the player changes Rotom's form for the first time, explaining its history.
Distribution
Players could obtain the Secret Key via Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection or from selected stores in certain countries. Japanese players could then share them to five other players of Platinum.
