This is a list of the teams of {{ga|Blue|the rival}} in {{game2|Red|Green|Blue}}. His [[starter Pokémon]] depends on the player's choice (he will choose the one that weakens the player's), while the remainder of his team will be filled out based on this choice. In the battle on the S.S. Anne, Blue has a Raticate; however, before the next battle, Blue is facing a gravestone and he no longer has the Raticate. Some believe that his Raticate was killed, while others assume that he simply deposited it in the PC. He also says "Why are you here? It's not like any of your pokemon have died!"

In the theory that it Blue's Raticate was killed, some people believe that it was the fault of the {{player}}. This extended theory states that Blue was not able to take his Raticate to the Pokémon Center fast enough after losing to the {{player}} on the S.S. Anne, causing it to die.

This is a list of the teams of the rival in Pokémon Red, Green, and Blue. His first partner Pokémon depends on the player's choice (he will choose the one that is strong against the player's), while the remainder of his team will be filled out based on this choice.

In the fourth through seventh battles, Blue has one Potion per Pokémon that he uses 12.5% of the time if their HP falls below 20%. In the Champion battle, he instead uses Full Restores with the same logic.

First battle

Winning this battle is not mandatory. The player will not black out and the story will progress either way.

Bulbasaur If the player chose Bulbasaur:

Second battle (optional)

This battle is available until the player defeats Brock.

Third battle

This battle can be skipped by obtaining a Pokémon with Cut from a trade, and then leaving Cerulean City by cutting the tree blocking the south exit.

If this battle is skipped, it is possible to break the gameplay sequence by having this battle at any point later in the game (even after other battles against Blue).

Fourth battle

This battle can be skipped by obtaining a Pokémon with Cut from a trade instead of receiving the HM01 (Cut) in S.S. Anne.

If this battle is skipped, it is possible to break the gameplay sequence by having this battle at any point later in the game (even after other battles against Blue).
