==Physiology for the admins to implement==
Pokabu: "Pokabu is a pig-like Pokémon, primarily orange in coloration with the additional colors of black, pink, and yellow on various portions of its body. It has large, ovular eyes, an archetypically piglike ruddy-pink nose, and a thick stripe of yellow over its snout. Much of its face has black coloration, and its ears, long and oblong, are positioned closely together on the top of its head. Pokabu has short legs, with the extremities of its forefeet being black in coloration. There is a band of black on its lower back and rear, from which extends its coiled tail, topped with a ruddy-red bauble-like adornment." Hopefully this helps. Also, I was not sure if its extremities---farthermost portions of its limbs--- should be called hooves or paws, so I left it at "extremities". [[User:Steph|Steph]] 21:01, 23 May 2010 (UTC)

== Pokabu→Hihidaruma? ==
I know this is just major speculation on my part, but don't Pokabu and Hihidaruma look alike? Their types are even the same. Also, in the leaked anime art that was proven real, they have evolution of Tsutarja and Mijumaru, but not Pokabu. So it might be an evolution, but it also might not. And don't say that there is no proof of it. That I know, and there's no proff that it's not. [[User:Pawsrent|Pawsrent]] 18:05, 8 July 2010 (UTC)

== About its National number ==
Yes. We know. {{p|Victini}} is #000 in the Isshu dex. This means nothing right now about its National number. Think of it this way: they put Victini at #000 so that you'd not know right off the bat getting it how many other Pokémon there are to find, especially given that it's gonna be an early event, like Manaphy. If you got Mew just after you got your starter in RBY, you'd know there's 151 Pokémon in Kanto. Same with Celebi in GSC, Deoxys in RSE, and so on. This is a failsafe to make Pokémon feel less like "let's see how many they added" and more like "oh, there's so many of these things, I wonder what they all are...". Sure, futile anyway, given that we'll likely have access to the games and have figured out everything by the day after it comes out... but still. An admirable solution to that huge-empty-Pokédex problem we've had since Gen I.
Pokabu, until further notice, is staying at #497. We cannot assume anything different than it being fourth after Arceus, just as Cyndaquil is fourth after Mew, Torchic is fourth after Celebi, and Chimchar is fourth after Deoxys. Please look into these ideas and help me:
Snivy's decided snake of origin is listed as the Green Vine Snake which is native to the South and Central Americas.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Green_Vine_Snake
Tepig's name sounds like Tapir which is a browsing mammal similar to a pig. There is a South American Tapir. Tepig's coloring is similar to the Asian Malayan Tapir, though I realize this may be coincidence as Asia is not in South America. ;)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_American_Tapir
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malayan_Tapir
Oshawott may be based on the Marine Otter if my theory is correct; not the Sea Otter. The Marine Otter is native to South American shores and is the most marine of all South American otter types. Its name also sounds ''an awful lot'' like "Ocelot" (native to South/Central Americas), which I found odd because it is obviously based on the otter. But Wikipedia states that the Marine Otter's colloquial nickname is "Gato Marino" which means "marine cat". Coincidence? I think Oshanott!

Name
The same post that told us these names on 2ch, said Pokabu is the ひぶたポケモン (Fire Pig Pokémon). This name may come from ぽかぽか (pokapoka), which means "warmth throughout your body", and 豚 (buta), which means Pig.--KurowaSan 01:07, 13 May 2010 (UTC)
- Just to better cover the name origin, the "bu" part of Pokabu can come either from buta (豚 pig) or būbū (ブーブー the sound a pig makes, oink-oink).--KurowaSan 23:36, 14 May 2010 (UTC)
Trivia
Pokabu is the first quadraped Fire-type starter. Charmander, Cyndaquil, Torchic, and Chimchar are all bipeds, (when standing still, in Cyndaquil's case).--MegaTroopX
- Cyndaquil I think, despite being able to stand on its hind legs, cannot walk on them like so. I think I recall seeing that in the anime at least. But I could be wrong. Mudkipchan 03:17, 13 May 2010 (UTC)
- According to the body style section of the Pokédex, Cyndaquil is in fact bipedal. So I think this could be valid trivia. --AndyPKMN 13:28, 13 May 2010 (UTC)
- And Typhlosion is classified as being Quadruple, despite it being depicted as being bipedal. Just goes to show... Mudkipchan 19:08, 13 May 2010 (UTC)
- First Fire-type first stage Starter, then? It's also the first Fire starter not to have flames somewhere on it's body, that could work as Trivia maybe? Reign 19:28, 13 May 2010 (UTC)
- And Typhlosion is classified as being Quadruple, despite it being depicted as being bipedal. Just goes to show... Mudkipchan 19:08, 13 May 2010 (UTC)
- According to the body style section of the Pokédex, Cyndaquil is in fact bipedal. So I think this could be valid trivia. --AndyPKMN 13:28, 13 May 2010 (UTC)

Type Match-ups
Why does the type match-up section talk about typing as if the phyical-special split never happened? Was it confirmed that the split was going to be removed? Poisson14 08:10, 22 May 2010 (UTC)

Pokabu/Pikablu
Anyone else note the fact pokabu is simmilar to pikablu? or am i stringing wrong ideas together? - unsigned comment from Ben7229 (talk • contribs)
- Pokabu is its Japanese name, and Pikablu is a nickname given to Marill. Physically, they've got nothing in common. Probably just a coincidence. Takharii ~ Talk! 22:14, 22 May 2010 (UTC)

Physiology for the admins to implement
Steph 21:01, 23 May 2010 (UTC)

Pokabu→Hihidaruma?
I know this is just major speculation on my part, but don't Pokabu and Hihidaruma look alike? Their types are even the same. Also, in the leaked anime art that was proven real, they have evolution of Tsutarja and Mijumaru, but not Pokabu. So it might be an evolution, but it also might not. And don't say that there is no proof of it. That I know, and there's no proff that it's not. Pawsrent 18:05, 8 July 2010 (UTC)
- This isn't even speculation, this is pure fake. If anyone is to beleive this needs their head checking. --S2daam 19:30, 8 July 2010 (UTC)
First Fire-type starter based off a pig?
Just checked through everything, and yeah, it is the only Pokémon (that is a Fire-type starter) that is based off pigs...--DB 02:24, 20 July 2010 (UTC)
- There are only five Fire-type starters in total. If it were the only mammalian Fire-type starter than maybe, but I think it's a bit specific. Werdnae (talk) 02:30, 20 July 2010 (UTC)
About its National number
Yes. We know. Victini is #000 in the Isshu dex.
TTEchidna 00:55, 25 July 2010 (UTC)

Origin
Am I the only one that sees a wrestling motif on this guy's family? Maybe that should be added into the article somewhere? --Blackstone Dresden 01:21, 6 September 2010 (UTC)
- I see nothing about wrestling in Pokabu. The evolutions that were "leaked" have a chance of being fake. Turtwig's A-B-Cs (talk | contribs) 01:23, 6 September 2010 (UTC)
Please look into these ideas and help me: Snivy's decided snake of origin is listed as the Green Vine Snake which is native to the South and Central Americas. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Green_Vine_Snake
Tepig's name sounds like Tapir which is a browsing mammal similar to a pig. There is a South American Tapir. Tepig's coloring is similar to the Asian Malayan Tapir, though I realize this may be coincidence as Asia is not in South America. ;) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_American_Tapir http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malayan_Tapir
Oshawott may be based on the Marine Otter if my theory is correct; not the Sea Otter. The Marine Otter is native to South American shores and is the most marine of all South American otter types. Its name also sounds an awful lot like "Ocelot" (native to South/Central Americas), which I found odd because it is obviously based on the otter. But Wikipedia states that the Marine Otter's colloquial nickname is "Gato Marino" which means "marine cat". Coincidence? I think Oshanott! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marine_otter http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ocelot
Just sayin'. --GrowlitheandEkans 03:05, 13 March 2011 (UTC)

Why hasn't Chaobu been connected to the Pokabu article?
Why hasn't Chaobu been identified as Pokabu's evolution on the Pokabu article? Chaobu has been linked to Pokabu on its page... why not on Pokabu's page?--Pokemon26 21:01, 13 September 2010 (UTC)
- The article hasn't been mainspaced yet, and...it's evolution still seems a bit questionable. Remember, the games are less than a week away from being released, so, it'll be up soon enough. —♥ Jellotalk 21:05, 13 September 2010 (UTC)
Guinea Pig?
is it just me or does it resemble a Guinea Pig in coloration? My Guinea Pig has orange and black fur and has a flame like design above its snout just like Pokabu! Even though Guinea Pig ears don't stick up they kind of look similar as well.. origin possibly? --Landfish7 00:43, 30 September 2010 (UTC)
- It's a Pig and nothing more Ataro 00:53, 30 September 2010 (UTC)
It can't be a guinea pig.For one thing,guinea pigs' snouts don't pop out as much as Tepig's.A regular pig can probably have it like that.Second,Tepig has a tail much larger than a guinea pig's tail.And guinea pigs (like mine) dosen't have a tail.Pigs have a tail.Already two explanations.Tepig is a pig,not a guinea pig.Dewott100 04:29, 23 February 2011 (UTC)

Fandom name
I doubt this will get on to the mainspace but... We mentiond the nickname Smugleaf in Tsutarja's trivia, so why is there no mention of "Porknite" -> Pokabu or "Woter" -> Mijumaru? Should we metntion these names as well they were produced by the same fandom as Smugleaf at the same time. I think it is only fair that we put them in.--EpicShadow 17:34, 22 November 2010 (UTC)
- Probably not, because they weren't as popular as Smugleaf. And they were Pignite and Wotter anyway.----無限の知性 ◎ DENNOU◆ZENSHI 17:38, 22 November 2010 (UTC)
- How were they not as popular? All I see online is Smugleaf, Pignite and Wotter. Very rarely do you see anyone use their actual names (wich may start now that the Engish names have been reveald). The only differance T=that was there was that Stutarja had mor fan art and was the star of the "Grasshole Show".--EpicShadow 17:45, 22 November 2010 (UTC)

Origin
Under the Origin section it says "Tepig is based on a saddleback piglet." but the link takes you to a disambiguation page. I searched Wikipedia for a saddleback pig page, but there is none. Should we just leave the link as is, delete the link all together, or find an appropriate page on Wikipedia to change the link to? --Alex726(TALK) 04:26, 22 March 2013 (UTC)
- There are three saddleback pig pages right on the disambiguation page. There's the British Saddleback, the Wessex Saddleback, and the Angeln Saddleback. However, you are right about the page needing to link to one of these pages and not the disambig page. I'll fix it in a moment here. Thanks for noticing! Crystal Talian 04:40, 22 March 2013 (UTC)
Aspect Ratio of the picture
I keep get a feeling that the aspect ratio of the main (Sugimori's) picture is off (Note that the sphere on the end of its tail looks like an oval rather than a circle). Can this be fixed? The picture posted by DSDark above looks somewhat better in that 'aspect'. Takkupanda (talk) 09:32, 31 August 2013 (UTC)
