Bulbapedia bulb.png

By creating your account you are now able to edit pages, join discussions, and expand the community-driven Pokémon encyclopedia. Before you jump in, here are some ground rules:

  • Be nice to everyone. It's in the code of conduct.
  • Make good edits. Preview them before you save to make sure they're perfect the first time around.
  • Use wikicode and link templates when adding content to a page.
  • Use proper grammar and spelling, and read the manual of style.
  • You can't create a userpage until you've added to the encyclopedia. It's a privilege. See the userspace policy.
  • Use talk pages to resolve editing disputes. Don't "edit war," or constantly re-edit/undo the same thing on a page.
  • If you have a question about something, be proactive. Take a look at our FAQ. If you're still stuck, ask for help. The staff won't bite.
  • Sign all talk page posts with four tildes (~~~~). This will turn into your name and the time you wrote the comment.
  • For more handy links, see the welcome portal.
Thank you, and have a good time editing here!

Edit warring

It's in your welcome template and it tells you not to edit war. You were clearly doing that because you kept adding back the same thing after getting reverted twice. It's usually a sign that you should stop. If you do not agree, then discuss it on the talk page of the article instead. Since you're new, I'll let this go. But next time, it will result in a ban. Thanks. Jellotalk 20:14, 19 May 2011 (UTC)

The Preview Button

When editing, it is always wise to preview your edits before you hit Save. The preview button is right next to the save button. Using it helps cut down on server stress. Please keep this in mind. Thank you.

Signature Testing

Let's see if this works!

YoshisWorld

And besides signature testing, how it has two "Bulbapedia" sections on my page? Yeah something happened to the internet but I can't delete it since it's only one edit per day. ☆YoshisWorld☆

Double posted

It looks like you double-posted on one of your userspace edits. I was originally going to slap protection on your userpage, but it looks like a mistake. Just thought you should know in case you wanted to fix it or leave it. --rockersk08 20:52, 29 July 2011 (UTC)

Oh, thanks for letting me know, since I was pretty sure I didn't double post...-- ☆YoshisWorld ☆ 12:26, 30 July 2011 (UTC)YoshisWorld

Appendix titles

It's strongly preferred that you use the game's proper title when writing an appendix page. For example, PokéPark Wii should always be PokéPark Wii: Pikachu's Adventure, and Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky shouldn't have the 2 unless it's explicitly in the title of the game. Please keep this in mind. Thanks! Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 02:21, 13 August 2011 (UTC)

I did, but the thing is, it won't link to the walkthrough unless it has the "2" in it or without the Pikachu's Adventure. But if that's what's preferred, I'll move it! ^^ --☆YoshisWorld☆ 11:35, 13 August 2011 (UTC)

It's ready

PSY got the templete set up for the Pokedex entry, so if you got the entry written down you can add it now. Truthseeker4449 18:20, 5 September 2011 (UTC)

Romanization Templates

Please don't rely on Google Translate when romanizing names as they can be very inaccurate. (e.g. 張青 as "Blue butterfly"). And besides, they're Chinese names.

Thought I would get this message. Thanks for letting me know. Normally, I don't use Google Translate, but my little cousins came last week or something like that, messed around with my computer, and the usual website I used was deleted. Sorry that you have to put up with my stupid new pages. I'll try refinding the website I used before.
I see. Hope you would be able to find the website again. 23:48, 20 September 2011 (UTC)
Before you go starting another frenzy of romanizing names. Here are some tips:
General
Do check which one is the first name and which one is the last name, and go for Western convention. Google Translate doesn't usually reverse the order.
Don't leave English translation, unless they don't refer to people (e.g. studios, companies)
Also, don't leave the kanji/hanzi. That's the point of romanizing the text.
Don't mix the romanized text (Chinese with Japanese, or Chinese with Korean)
Japanese names
Names with hiragana and katakana
Names with four or more characters
Names with two-character surname
Please do use the macroned letters when the vowels are elongated (ā,ē,ī,ō,ū), e.g. 大 as ō, 佐藤 as Satō (not Sato).
Chinese Names
Two-character names
Three-character names (May overlap with Japanese and Korean names)
The first character is the surname. When romanizing, put them at the back.
For the last two characters, put a dash in between. (e.g. 王長春‎ = Chang-Chun Wang).
If the name has only two characters, no dash is needed (e.g 張偉 is Wei Zhang, don't write it as Zhang Wei)
Korean Names
Unfortunately, it is usually indistinguishable to Chinese names.
Usually starts with 金 (Kim)/李(Lee)/朴 (Park).

Oh wait...."Please determine first which"...what?
Seems like you have difficulty in figuring out which one is the surname. Japanese surname usually ends with these characters:
本 (-moto), 田 (-ta, -da), 野 (-no), 井 (-i), 藤 (-tō), 川 (-kawa, -gawa), 原 (-hara, -bara), 谷 (-ya), 木 (-ki, -gi), 口 (-kuchi, -guchi), 崎 (-saki, -zaki), 山 (-yama), 林 (-hayashi, -bayashi), 森 (-mori), etc.
For first names, some of them ends with 子 (-ko).--超龍對話 05:28, 25 September 2011 (UTC)

I feel like I need to put this somewhere. I suck. I don't even feel like writing my customized signature. --YoshisWorld 23:43, 20 September 2011 (UTC)

Those romanizations...

You used Google Translate, amirite? I'll give you an advice - NEVER EVER add any romanization templates if all that you can do is copypasting the Kanji to a translation device. --Maxim 20:55, 24 September 2011 (UTC)

Eh...I don't know what to say. Just...don't judge me, thanks.
I'm not judging you at all. I have yet to master the Japanese language but I can recognize typical Google Translate gibberish. --Maxim 22:00, 24 September 2011 (UTC)

Romanizations

It seems that a few weeks back, you had been having some troubles with romanization templates. I have to ask, do you have any formal/personal background in translating Chinese & Japanese names or have you just been using mechanical translator tools without any formal understanding of these names? If it's the latter, I'd highly suggest that you not work on romanization templates in the future until you have some formal understanding of these names. While your attempt to assist is greatly appreciated, it would be best to not have the templates made rather than have them incorrect. Thanks for your time & sorry I have to be such a bummer ^^; - Kogoro - Talk to me - 20:10, 6 October 2011 (UTC)

Well, I do know some, but I have a long way to go to master the writing. I haven't been working on romanization templates for a long time since I want to master it first. I don't want to fill Bulba with rubbish.

May I help?

I know that making a large number of edits in a short time is tiring, and I was wondering if I may help you with adding line breaks. If so, where do I add them? Truthseeker4449 22:29, 24 October 2011 (UTC)

Yes, you can help, thanks. You can add the line breaks at the end of the page, where the prev-next foot thing is before the Pokédex notice. (because it looks ugly when it's pushed together.) I've done up to Mr. Mime, so you can start with Scyther(I'm doing it in Pokédex order by the way). Thanks again.
Well, actually, to organize it a bit more, (sorry if you already did Scyther) it'd be appreciated if you can do the Johto and Sinnoh regions. Unova, we'll work together on that.
I'm replying way too much, but, uh, if you need help on the Johto or Sinnoh regions, you can either ask me and/or call on someone else.
I was thinking about going from Genosect on in reverse order, and you contine working up in order. If we did this we would end up somewhere in the middle of the dex. Truthseeker4449 22:46, 24 October 2011 (UTC)
Well, you can do that too. I'm stupid for not thinking of that.Whatever you can do is appreciated.
Alright, Oh and no beating yourself up over not coming up with that. Truthseeker4449 22:50, 24 October 2011 (UTC)
-was about to beat up self but saw this comment- Well, alright. Let's get working, anyway!
No problem, if I hadn't had to go to school I could have finshed the Sinnoh Dex. Let me know if there are other stuff you would like help on. Truthseeker4449 22:07, 27 October 2011 (UTC)

Okay

I know when I am wrong, sorry. --Skarm (tAlk) 22:50, 25 October 2011 (UTC)

look at this

{{PokémonPrevNext | type=dark | type2=ice | prevnum=460 | nextnum=462 | prev=Abomasnow | next=Magnezone }} {{PokémonPrevNextFoot | type=dark | type2=ice | prevnum=460 | nextnum=462 | prev=Abomasnow | next=Magnezone }}

There appears to be an easier way to do this. On most of the templates have this "Foot" thingy. If we remove the "foot" a small space is inserted between the nav and notice. So do we remove the foot thing and {{-}} from most or contine like we are now? Truthseeker4449 23:51, 25 October 2011 (UTC)

Well, because it's easier, I think we should do it this way.
The foot thing I mean.
Do NOT remove the foot Template from the Pokémon pages. That is the one that is supposed to be used. MaverickNate 00:33, 26 October 2011 (UTC)
Oh. Whoops. Sorry nate.
Yeah I saw it, but now I want to know this, some of them (462-Palkia) don't have the foot template, should we add the template to them? (infact that's how I noticed the foot template)Truthseeker4449 00:45, 26 October 2011 (UTC)
Well, since that's what Nate said we should. Whichever ones don't have the foot template we should add the foot.
The original template was to replace the {{PokémonPrevNext}} on both the top and the bottom with {{PokémonPrevNextHead}} and {{PokémonPrevNextFoot}}, respectively, in order to link to the disambiguation pages that were going to be created for every Pokémon. However, nothing ever came of the decision to make the remaining disambiguation pages. I would say adding the Foot, and only the Foot, to all of them would be fine. MaverickNate 01:35, 26 October 2011 (UTC)

Wikipedia

Can you please only link to Pokémon that actually have articles? We really don't need to link to sections on their list of Pokémon. --SnorlaxMonster 05:24, 29 October 2011 (UTC)

Oh. Alright. Yes, will do. Sorry, I got a bit confused.
Same applies for people. If they're just a section on an article like List of characters in the Pokémon anime series, then they don't need to be linked to. --SnorlaxMonster 13:58, 31 October 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, but I'm not linking to those lists. Only actual articles...
They still just redirect to it though. Whether it is the redirect or a section link, it is still the same result. --SnorlaxMonster 14:36, 31 October 2011 (UTC)
Um...I think I fixed it now, because they don't redirect.

Gen III

I am doing it – Everything from Absorb to Charm + Generation I moves up to Fury Swipes + Selfdestruct + Metal Claw + some moves who someone else uploaded (these include, but aren't limited to:Surf (overworld), Sweet Scent (both), Mud Sport or Muddy Water). Generation I was done (as far as I remember I uploaded final file in June or July), Gen II most likely also done (I didn't found any missing move save for Counter) and now doing Gen III. Gen IV is unsure, and as far as I know, Gen V has image for every move, static or animated. Also I have egg animation from Emerald, but I just saw it gonna take a lot of time just with copy and paste (since it was screenshoted on summary screen) D:Marked +-+-+ 15:45, 4 November 2011 (UTC)

Thank you. I suppose that means I don't need to add the incomplete sign then. --YoshisWorld, 15:47, 4 November 2011 (UTC)

FYI

If the manga article has a stub notice, it does not get a Project notice until it loses the stub notice. This is mentioned on the project page under the tag section. Truthseeker4449 22:46, 16 November 2011 (UTC)

Oh, sorry! Really. If you haven't already done it, I'll remove the project notices right away.
I'm in the process of doing that. But I don't know about the Cdex ones yet, you might want to look into that. Truthseeker4449 22:56, 16 November 2011 (UTC)
Now that is done I will try to find Clarky13 for adivce on the CDex stuff. Truthseeker4449 23:54, 16 November 2011 (UTC)

If you are not already, it may be a good idea to start watching Nate's talk page. He doesn't seem too happy about what we have been up to.... Truthseeker4449 12:22, 22 November 2011 (UTC)

Anime locations

Why are you removing the double project tag from anime locations? In fact, for locations that appear in the anime and manga, it may even be more appropriate to have the Location tag by itself rather than the anime tag. --SnorlaxMonster 07:20, 23 November 2011 (UTC)

Oh! Sorry, I didn't know. If you hadn't done it already, I can remove it right now.
Not just those pages though. I think they should all have the dual tag. Is there any reason you thought they should not? --SnorlaxMonster 10:54, 24 November 2011 (UTC)
I was thinking all the anime exclusive pages would have the {{Project Anime notice|loc}} but the ones that appear in the manga should have the anime/location double tag. If that's a problem, that's alright, but I'm just voicing my opinion.
That seems to make no sense to me. I think being actual locations, the Locations tag would take priority. Then when the location appeared in the anime AND manga (unless it was Electric Tale only I guess, since that is essentially anime), only the location tag would be there. I see absolutely no reason to remove the location half of the dual tag from anime-exclusive locations. --SnorlaxMonster 14:28, 24 November 2011 (UTC)
Alright then. I'll undo my edits. Sorry SM.

"Whoo editing spree"

Not that I understand why Pokémon species articles would need your "<trademarked Japanese name> (Pokemon)" redirects (or the original "<trademarked Japanese name> (Pokémon)" redirects, for that matter), but I'm having an extra hard time processing your creation of "<subjective translation of Japanese name currently used by Bulbapedia> (move)" redirects. Care to explain them? Their use, that is. Japanese users would obviously not use them, nor, I say, would the portion of the international audience who once knew the moves by fan-translated, pre-international names. I'd appreciate if anyone could inform me why these should be kept. Yvnr (talk) 22:06, 20 March 2013 (UTC)

I helped him by recreating Body Purge (move). Thought it was the right thing to do. TheShinyRoggenrola (talk) 22:08, 20 March 2013 (UTC)

All redirects with a bracket, like (Pokémon) or (move) are useless as no one will search for the name with the bracket after, just the name. That's the way I see it. ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 22:13, 20 March 2013 (UTC)
Alright, sorry. Actually, I just realized they're not useful, so I stopped doing it. I'm just doing the Japanese name with the Pokemon thing. I'll stop, you guys can delete them. Sorry.
