In 2007, when [[Nintendo Power]] announced that they would no longer be publishing strategy guides, they appointed Prima Games as the officially endorsed publisher of licensed strategy guides. In 2015, with the merger of parent companies {{wp|Penguin}} and {{wp|Random House}}, competitor {{wp|DK_(publisher)#BradyGames|BradyGames}} was merged into Prima Games.
Two guides were made for these games. One featured {{p|Charizard}} on the cover; the other had {{p|Blastoise}}. Each guide offered a complete breakdown of [[Kanto]], including all cities, towns, routes and caves. Locations for all 150 Pokémon were given including their respective skills and statistics. A list of moves, and all available [[TM]] and [[HM]] locations was also given. Also included were a list of where to find items, tips on how to beat the [[Gym Leader]]s and maps of every location. This book was published on October 14, 1998.

This guide was published almost a year after the Red and Blue versions. On the cover was a picture of {{p|Pikachu}}. In addition to Yellow, the guide covered the other two versions of the Pokémon games available as well. This book was published on October 13, 1999.

Only one guide was made for these games. On the cover were {{p|Ho-Oh}} and {{p|Lugia}}. The guide gave a complete explanation of all the new features, such as the [[PokéGear]]. Details of the time-of-day dependent events were covered, with information on Pokémon specific to certain times.


Locations of all TMs and HMs were given. Battle tactics for how to obtain all eight gym badges were also given. Tips on breeding, capturing, raising, and training the new Pokémon were explained. A sealed section that revealed all puzzles and mysteries was included in the book too. This book was published on October 11, 2000.

Prima Games is a subsidiary of GAMURS Group based in the United States that previously wrote companion strategy guides to video games and tabletop games. Prima has written strategy guides for core series Pokémon games and most major spin-off games, known as Prima's Official Strategy Guides.

In 2007, when Nintendo Power announced that they would no longer be publishing strategy guides, they appointed Prima Games as the officially endorsed publisher of licensed strategy guides. In 2015, with the merger of parent companies Penguin and Random House, competitor BradyGames was merged into Prima Games.

In March 2019, after being acquired by Asteri Holdings, Prima announced that they would exclusively publish online and cease publishing physical books.[1] The last Pokémon guidebook that Prima Games is credited for publishing is Pokémon Sword & Pokémon Shield: The Official Galar Region Pokédex. On January 3, 2022, GAMURS Group announced its acquisition of Prima Games.[2]
