Pokémon Sword & Pokémon Shield: The Official Galar Region Pokédex is a guide published by The Pokémon Company International in association with Prima Games. It contains 480 pages of information about Pokémon Sword and Shield, including a guide of where to find Pokémon in the game. It was the final Pokémon guidebook published by Prima Games after the company announced announced that they would exclusively publish online and cease publishing physical books.
The book covers all 400 Pokémon in the Galar Pokédex. Its first section contains lists of Pokémon (both by Galar Pokédex number and alphabetically) and guidance on completing the Pokédex. The next section has Pokédex entries for each Pokémon, including information such as type, height, weight, evolution, Pokédex entries from both Sword and Shield, any forms and gender differences, possible held items in the wild, and the "main way to obtain" the Pokémon in Sword and Shield. This is followed by a separate section for Gigantamax forms, with similar information as well as an explanation of each one's G-Max Move. The next section of the book lists all the moves that each Pokémon can learn. The book's final section, "adventure data", includes lists of moves, Abilities, and items. The book also contains a double-sided poster with artwork of the Galar region on the front and all of the Pokémon in the Galar Pokédex on the back.
The book only covers Pokémon that were obtainable in Pokémon Sword and Shield at the time of the book's release. As such, the regular forms of Pokémon with Galarian forms are excluded except for Meowth, Yamask, and Mr. Mime (though Zigzagoon's regular form is pictured on its page with a note explaining what regional forms are). Alolan forms are also excluded. The West Sea forms of Shellos and Gastrodon are shown in a note on their Pokédex page, but are excluded from other sections of the book. Gigantamax Toxtricity is excluded (though Gigantamax Snorlax, which was also originally event-exclusive, is included).
