Give me a Christmas present: don't kill my talk page before New Year's. TTEchidna

Some stuff...

What do you think of this?--MisterE13 23:35, 1 November 2009 (UTC)

...kinda overdoes it. TTEchidna 00:40, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
We do it for type effectiveness and it would shrink obviously.--MisterE13 01:26, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
I really don't mean to butt in on here or anything... but I am positive that it's the final stat itself that's affected by the ability, as opposed to the game calculating it normally as if there was a bonus to the base stat. I'm pretty sure that the results would be different... sorry, this just bugs me way too much though when people treat it like a base stat change as opposed to a change to the final stat. >_< ie: max speed Victreebel in the sunlight gets 524 Speed (70 * 2 = 140, with 140 base speed resulting in max 416...). Again, sorry. Don't mean to butt in, just... want things to be correct and all. *cough* →Tinā 01:38, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
But, if the Pokémon were to have that specific stat (which is kinda the point of displaying a "base") then its stat would become that, it could be reworded though.--MisterE13 02:25, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
Well here's the thing: it doesn't change on the stats page of the Pokémon's screen. That number always remains as whatever it is for that specific amount of IVs, EVs, and Nature. And unlike with type, which is a major effect, removing immunities or causing them, or changing weaknesses, this is... just stats calculated based on crap like the weather. TTEchidna 04:58, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
OK, also should I try to add Forme stuff to the evobox, or do you already have a "master plan" as I was informed you do for Volbeat and Illumise?--MisterE13 23:58, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
I was going to get to it eventually, but haven't found a good fit quite yet. Then I hit some snags and it kind of fell out of my radar. I'll get back to work on it later, you don't need to worry about it. TTEchidna 01:20, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

List of Pokemon by evolution family

I was looking at List of Pokémon by evolution family and under the sprite for Tangela someone put the sprite for Rypherior. I know you probably got other stuff to do but the page is protected and only admins can edit it. If you can help, thanks.--Smartkidhen 21:42, 2 November 2009 (UTC)

Whoops. I f'd up. It's in the middle of an upgrade so sometimes I do. TTEchidna 23:19, 2 November 2009 (UTC)

New Seadra pic

230px

The main Seadra page needs a new pic of it. Will this do? --Hmdwgf 17:34, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

Got anything with better colors? TTEchidna 18:54, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
I know what you're saying, but I don't have anything of Seadra in digital color. But I think that pic is good enough. Btw, that's not the full size pic.--Hmdwgf 21:30, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
Well of course not in digital... but the color balance there seems... stark. TTEchidna 21:44, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
Yes, the blue Seadra looks quite harsh on that greenish yellow\black background. There are many more worse pics than this. Take a look at the pic on the "in the anime" section on the main Seadra page. It's pretty bad. --Hmdwgf 22:13, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
Also bad quality. I dunno, see what you can do to reduce the harshness of the contrast. TTEchidna 22:17, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
OK. --Hmdwgf 22:19, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
How's that? --Hmdwgf 22:29, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
Now it's a little too washed-out... go midway between the two. TTEchidna 22:33, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
OK, I think I got it right this time. --Hmdwgf 22:40, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
I agree, it's perfect. TTEchidna 00:26, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
So could you replace that pic with the bad one on this page? I can't do it. --Hmdwgf 00:42, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
Done and done. TTEchidna 00:54, 4 November 2009 (UTC)

Maintenance work

Seems that I was given permissions to contribute in this maintenance project... I was guided to ask from one of certain administrators, which includes you, on details on what's going on. I figured out already that we're going to move all Pokémon Special to Pokémon Adventures and all PiPiPi to MPJ. Is there something else we're going to move?

I'll try to help with anything as much as I can, though I think today is one of the busier days in IRL (ATM writing on the lunch break, will be at school for some 6 hours from now & can edit only on breaks if there are free computers left at the IT class). UltimateSephiroth (about me · chat · edits) 08:57, 5 November 2009 (UTC)

Just do what you can. There's still categories on Archives that need fixing, too. Check the deletion log and make sure they're all empty. TTEchidna 08:59, 5 November 2009 (UTC)

Sorry

I made a Template similar to yours :P.--ForceFire 12:17, 7 November 2009 (UTC)
Well, I personally think it'd work better if it were organized in columns for each main character, and then we'd have the wild Pokémon and CoD Pokémon separate. TTEchidna 19:14, 7 November 2009 (UTC)

New link template

What do you think of this: A new link template named "UP", for those formerly notable anime Pokés, like Paul's Weavile and Drew's Flygon. It would link to the part of the main article (for example, Paul) that has the info on the Pokémon, such as Paul#Weavile. It would show up as "Paul's Weavile" or "Drew's Flygon", but one could set it to look like, say, "Weavile". What do you think? Alpha CuboneKing 23:43, 7 November 2009 (UTC)

Don't those articles redirect anyway? TTEchidna 01:31, 8 November 2009 (UTC)
Aren't we not supposed to link to redirects? Alpha CuboneKing 01:38, 8 November 2009 (UTC)
If they're redirects that are 99.9% guaranteed to stay, they're fine, like items, for example. Stuff like Slugma, however, is a bad idea, considering the fact that an important one could come into the anime or Adventures or something at any time. TTEchidna 01:47, 8 November 2009 (UTC)
Oh... I am very misleaded today. Sorry to bother, the Alpha CuboneKing 01:50, 8 November 2009 (UTC)

Arceus page

I have an idea. Once I can get some more pics for the Arceus in the latest film, do you think you can program the article to show one picture of each of the types of Arceus appear in the picture box? You did it with this page and it could work here. It's just an idea, btw. --Hmdwgf 09:37, 8 November 2009 (UTC)

Nnnnngh, perhaps. TTEchidna 09:56, 8 November 2009 (UTC)
It's ok. I wasn't really for it anyway. I don't know why I asked. (I wasn't influenced by your opinion) --Hmdwgf 10:21, 8 November 2009 (UTC)
Well, it's not hard, but unless we get that perfect amount of 18 (yes 18), then it'd be odd. TTEchidna 10:22, 8 November 2009 (UTC)
Yes, but it all depends on how many types it changed to during the movie. I haven't seen it yet, so I have no idea. If it changed to all 18 (not likely), then I can get all of them. --Hmdwgf 10:25, 8 November 2009 (UTC)

An idea :o

Hey, I think you are the best person to go to for this, so I thought I'd leave you a message. This is regarding Template:Pokéthlon. The new Kanto version guide books that were recently released have the base performance stats for Pokémon in addition to their maxes. Right now the template only supports the max values, but my idea is that we can expand it to maybe show both the max and base stats? For example, Quilava would look something like this: Speed: ★★★★☆ Power: ★★★☆ Technique: ★★☆ Stamina: ★★★☆ Jump: ★★☆ Would it be a good idea to upgrade it like this? (Yaminokame 09:28, 9 November 2009 (UTC))

We'd have to know the base, though, for all of them... I do want to do that, though. TTEchidna 09:31, 9 November 2009 (UTC)
I could write them all down for you, how would you want me to give you those? It will take a while, but I can do it :) (Yaminokame 09:33, 9 November 2009 (UTC))
Try using these: Pokéthlonstarl.png , Pokéthlonstarm.png , Pokéthlonstars.png , Pokéthlonstarn.png. tc²₆tc26 09:46, 9 November 2009 (UTC)
I agree that those would be a good change, though we wouldn't be able to use the big ones or the gray ones because those mean that the nature (or Apricorn Drinks) is affecting them. If I wrote in all the values into the discussion would that work? (Yaminokame 09:50, 9 November 2009 (UTC))
I think using the text stars for now is fine. Later we can use the image stars, but that's why we stopped using {{ic}} and started using {{typecolor}}. TTEchidna 09:59, 9 November 2009 (UTC)

Okay, if I go through and list all of them here, would that help? Bulbapedia:Sandbox#Pokethlon Performance base/max. I did the first 10 as an example. (Yaminokame 10:21, 9 November 2009 (UTC))

About Barry/Pearl and Hibiki/Gold

I'm currently banned (for some unknown reason) from Bulbagarden forums for two weeks. And since I can't discuss about Barry/Pearl debate there, I'll send my opinions to you. I'm currently pretty much ill but I'm getting better, luckily. I think my brain works properly. All the pro-Pearl and pro-Gold points that I've seen in the thread are completely moot. They're usually based on stupid analogies and on wrong ideas what "game data" really is. It's very pathetic, as practically everyone who posted in this thread think that game ROM data is an alien technology full of revolutionary informations, neccessarily contradicting with the game interface. It's obviously not the case. And it's sad that even you, the main admin, believes so. Here are my replies to certain posts:

  • TTE: "As far as we know right now, his name is still Gold. Hibiki/Kotone are the names chosen because of the NPC nature of them." - So are Lucas, Brendan, May etc. At your logic we should be calling them Diamond, Ruby, Sapphire etc. just because the names we currently use are "chosen because of the NPC nature of them". Actually, the NPC names are only names which make sense to use. Since only NPC appearances are canonical and with preset names. The player doesn't have a true name. He/she has a name that the player gives them. Gold is nothing more than Soul, Heart, Hiroshi, Tetsuo etc. Just an optional name.
    • TTE: "I'd bet that if we went into the game data, we'd find their names as either Gold and Soul... or as Gold and (dun dun) Kris." - I really didn't expect such naive words from Bulbapedia's main admin. It's a really n00bish belief that game data is some kind of alien technology that can answer all our questions. Also, I can see it being used as a scapegoat EVERY TIME when something in the games is unclear. Really, what you are expecting to find in the game data? A complete list of canonical characters with their real names, surnames, birthdates and favorite dishes? That's NOT how it works. Game data stores the information which you find in the GAME INTERFACE. And it never contradicts with it. I perfectly know what I'm talking about. I have the complete HGSS script rip downloaded from Pokeguide site (courtesy of Filb). There is nothing like "hidden data for characters". There are only texts, trainer lists and optional name lists. As you can see, the name "Gold" doesn't appear anywhere except some unrelated things (like Gold Print), placeholder name list (the name for rival when you don't give him one) and some obscure name list of what I believe are Wi-Fi placeholders. It doesn't appear anywhere in the context of "game character name". There is also no placeholder for player's name. It's replaced with a special offset in the script (anyway, if we believed such placeholders, we'd have to call Red "Ninten" and Blue "Sony"). However, the name "Hibiki" appears everywhere where boy character as NPC is involved. In other words, there is nothing that points to Hibiki's name being "Gold" in HGSS script. Nor there is anything in GSC, aside from optional names. Moral: Hibiki is only true preset name for "Gold", with the version-naming scheme being long obsolete.
  • TTE: "Anyway, I'm not in favor of moving Gold ever, even when the Hibiki and Kotone names are translated. Why? Because Red's not Ash and Blue's not Gary, even in HGSS. And we're not moving those either" - you don't make any kind of point here. There's no analogy here. Red and Blue appeared with those names as NPCs in GSC and HGSS. It's obvious that it would stay the case in HGSS, as it's the remake of FRLG. Why would they retcon it? It's our policy to use NPC names, being preset and hence the most trustable. Hibiki is only NPC names for him. It's not that he appeared with the name "Gold" anywhere.
    • Entire Luna Tiger's first post: Pokemon is not about analogies! Blue is called so because of his NPC name, Silver is called Silver just because we have no choice. THERE IS NO PATTERN HERE. You're just excusing our fanwanked names with fanwanked analogies. But that's not how it works. The version naming scheme is obsolete since GSC and the only rival to get a canonical name is Blue. Estabilishing a pattern here is silly.
  • TTE: "Hibiki/Kotone were just named as such to fit in with Brendan/May and Lucas/Dawn." - many things in Pokemon were done in certain non-canon purpose but we don't consider them non-canon just because of that. At your logic, we should say that Cinnabar canonically never erupted because its eruption was done just to save some data. And also, most of the character deaths in various TV series (not talking about Pokemon here) are non-canon because they were done "just because the actor signed off". It doesn't matter WHY GameFreak used that name, they decided so and we're supposed to follow it. But myself, I think that they decided to call him Hibiki just because they didn't have any preferred names for main characters back in GSC. It's not that GF cares about that matter so much. They are giving the player the choice to give him the name he wants. They estabilish canonical names only for NPC characters. Hibiki didn't appear as NPC until HGSS, where he was named Hibiki - his true name.
    • Luna Tiger: "If Pearl was meant to be inexplicably "Barry", then he would have been canonically named so, just like Wally and just like the non-player characters of third-gen and up. But he isn't. So no. Just because they dropped the "naming convention" since giving civilian names to the non-played!player character, doesn't mean they did so with the out-and-out rivals to the player." - It's all based on the belief that Wally belongs to the same group as Blue, Silver and Barry. It's not neccessarily true. Wally doesn't appear much, his role isn't much of a rival, he doesn't hold a rival title. He's just an NPC trainer. Naming him would be like naming every other NPC in the game - strange and pointless. Barry, however, is a true rival and a player can name him. So, there is no "better" name here, unlike the player characters (which have "better" names from NPC appearances). It's obvious that in such case we'd use the name that is the most used by various sources. "Jun" or "Barry" appears as top choice in two games, in Japanese merchandise, in the anime (which now uses ONLY canonical names from games, it doesn't change the names of characters anymore). That's a hell lot of a reason to call him "Barry". As for Pearl, the only reason are your fake patterns.
  • Luna Tiger: "Silver is defaulted Silver in HG." - He isn't. He's Soul in HG.
  • Luna Tiger: "And we were calling him Pearl long before the manga or anime had a damn thing to do about it. It wasn't "chosen". It was made pretty clear he was Pearl when the games first came out." - Again, completely false. We've called him "Jun" all the time before the English release. And no one argued with the name. Then, it logically got moved to Barry. However, some people spotted "Damion" in the optional names and went into conclusions that "OMG! IT'S DERIVED FROM DIAMOND! IT'S HIS TRUE NAME!!!!1111" and an edit war began. Then, it was moved to Pearl to stir the problem up. Sadly. We didn't always call him "Pearl".

I want you to post that in the thread as I can't myself. I think I've stated my points very clearly and that they'll decide on the finale of the debate. --Maxim 15:28, 9 November 2009 (UTC)

*cough* ban evasion? Yeeeeah. Not that I necessarily disagree with you Maxim. —darklordtrom 21:28, 9 November 2009 (UTC)
Why don't we just call them all "that idiot you play as", "that idiot who's a girl you play as", and "that idiot who declared himself your rival"? Gold will get his English "Hibiki" name in due time. Why change everything twice when we'll have to if we move it anyway? And if "version names are long obsolete", explain why Red and Green are still Red and Green in HGSS? They "retconned" a lot of other aspects of Kanto/Johto, such as Routes 47 and 48, Elm's house, the Suicune storyline, Lugia and Ho-Oh's involvement with the story, and the presence of the legendary birds. They could have changed Red to Satoshi and Green to Shigeru, especially considering Red's Pikachu is Ash's Pikachu in every aspect, right down to the moveset and gender. Face it: Gen I/II characters (Red, Blue/Green, Leaf, Gold, Silver, Kris) have version names. Gen III/IV characters have actual names (Brendan, May, Lucas, Dawn, Kotone). I agree with you partly on Pearl, but I don't feel the argument's strong enough to move it (otherwise Blue would be at Gary). Just because of the "real" names used by characters of the Hoenn and Sinnoh storylines doesn't mean the Kanto and Johto protagonists and rivals change. There's no pattern across them all: the pattern is across the players of the storyline: "Lucas" and "Dawn" are for certain references to light, "Red" and "Leaf" are references to the versions. Gold and Kotone are the only mismatched pairing, but considering that HGSS might as well be a Generation II game anyway... TTEchidna 23:27, 9 November 2009 (UTC)
Does it matter why didn't they change Red and Blue? Maybe they thought it's too major. That the characters are too classic to get their name changed? It's not that HGSS is only for youths who've never seen GSC at their eyes and they can change everything they won't, the youths won't care. Because, of course, the release of HGSS was total kick for older fans! The retcon of a Gym Leader's name and the Final Boss would be too major and pointless change. HGSS DOES reference GSC and their old methods. Also, there's a holy rule "Lex retro non agit". The old scheme being obsolete IS NOT a reason to change the names of characters who had ACTUAL and canonical NPC names. Renaming Blue and Red would make as much sense as renaming any other Gym Leader or character. Red and Blue's names were decided long time ago. It was to late to change them. The situation is very unlike Gold, Silver and Kris. Those were never supposed to be their official names, never appearing as NPCs (until HGSS, for Gold), being nothing more than optional names. We've assumed those names to be like that but that was only in analogy to Red and Blue. But it was a bad analogy. HGSS denied it. We'll stick to Silver and Kris, of course, because we have no choice. But Gold must be changed to his "Hibiki" English name, when it's revealed. Everything you say is assumed based on various analogies. But Pokemon isn't analogous. Actual facts must be put OVER fan assumption. Assumptions can't be an argument. --Maxim 10:53, 10 November 2009 (UTC)
Pearl doesn't "match" Dawn and Lucas, Kotone doesn't "match" Gold, Silver, and Kris. TTEchidna 06:38, 17 November 2009 (UTC)

Sorry to add to this if it's inappropriate, but is this why Pearl's Talk Page is protected?--Purimpopoie 19:45, 10 December 2009 (UTC)

Yep. It'll stay that way until we get names for Gold and Kotone in English. TTEchidna 21:07, 10 December 2009 (UTC)

Power Plant

On Serebii it says that when all 16 badges have been obtained then Zapdos will appear in HG&SS . But then you edited it . I think that was only meant to be for Gold , Silver and Crystal not HeartGold and SoulSilver . - unsigned comment from Mr. Anonymous (talkcontribs)

Mr.Anonymous

I'm only going from what I know. Though I didn't go after the birds until after I beat Blue, I'm pretty sure the only requirement is to complete the Magnet Train quest. Maybe I'm wrong, but it would make sense, since Articuno has no reason not to appear... But I know this: you totally must have missed Gen II considering the birds weren't there. I'll have some others check out the claim... We don't need to get our information from Serebii, we're our own site. TTEchidna 07:12, 10 November 2009 (UTC)
If it helps, the official guide book lists that you need to have 16 badges in order to get Zapdos to appear. Articuno, however, does not have that requirement and Moltres needs to be after 16 badges for obvious reasons. (Yaminokame 07:32, 10 November 2009 (UTC))
Hmm. Well, go ahead, change it. TTEchidna 07:34, 10 November 2009 (UTC)

Hey

Sorry to bother you, this may not be important to you but, in my new template how do you suppose I could split sections?--ForceFire 08:43, 10 November 2009 (UTC)

Well first it's "consists of". Not "consists off". Also, randomly capitalizing "On Hand"... no. How do you mean though? TTEchidna 08:51, 10 November 2009 (UTC)
What I mean is, when I get to 3 (or more) Pokémon, some of the are usually evolved and we usually show a evolution chain, and will be to large to fit in one and have to split it, like here. how could I split them.--ForceFire 09:08, 10 November 2009 (UTC)
Use the MSes. TTEchidna 09:15, 10 November 2009 (UTC)

Pokethlon performance upgrade

Okay, I've finally finished listing off the performance values for all Pokémon. Again, they are all listed here: Bulbapedia:Sandbox#Pokethlon Performance base/max. The only thing left to do is upgrade the Template:Pokéthlon and then fill in the values to each Pokémon page :) (Yaminokame 13:28, 10 November 2009 (UTC))

You sure they're all minimums and not just the values you have on Pokémon you have? TTEchidna 14:44, 10 November 2009 (UTC)
They aren't my Pokémon, I copied every single one out of the official guide book :p (Yaminokame 14:46, 10 November 2009 (UTC))
How official? It doesn't seem that it takes natures into account. TTEchidna 14:51, 10 November 2009 (UTC)
Natures are taken into account, that is why Pokémon of the same species can have drastically different performance stats. The Pokethlon performance stats for each Pokémon change on a daily basis as well. The chart is on this page Performance. The two books I have for reference can be seen here: http://www.pokemon.co.jp/special/hgss/news/07.html (third from the left on the top row and the second from the left on the bottom row). The book that details the performance stats is the Kanto book. (Yaminokame 14:57, 10 November 2009 (UTC))
My Charizard's stats are different than the listed base, though. He's had no Apricorn shakes. TTEchidna 15:16, 10 November 2009 (UTC)
It can drop below and rise above that base, and when it does you get the big stars and the small gray ones. What are your Charizard's performance stats and nature? (Yaminokame 15:20, 10 November 2009 (UTC))
Speed 3/Power 3/Technique 2/Stamina 4/Jump 4 small. TTEchidna 19:17, 10 November 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, so that just means that your Charizard's jump performance is hindered by one star so they turn gray and drop below the base :) All Pokémon should be nearly the same, all that have not had apricorn shakes have a chance of having a +1 or -1 or +2 or -2 in some stat which is determined daily by the Pokémon's nature. Your Charizard should be either: Adamant, Docile, Impish, Jolly, or Careful. Those stats go along with the base stats perfectly though. (Yaminokame 23:21, 10 November 2009 (UTC))
Yeah, Kotei's Adamant... but what we really need before I do the upgrade to the template is a concrete system that works perfectly... TTEchidna 00:01, 11 November 2009 (UTC)
What do you mean a concrete system? Like how to arrange the data or something? If that's the case, then just as my two cents, I personally like either the text versions or the image versions as were listed above. As far as the totals go, I don't really see much of a need for those at all. I think that overall going with the plain stars and blank stars would be the best bet since they would be easiest to relate to when looking at the status screen. With that in mind, we should probably add a little section in the performance page that lists the stars and their meanings. I'll work on that tonight if no one adds it in before then. (Yaminokame 01:46, 11 November 2009 (UTC))
I mean like... are we going to show the Nature-related stuff, or just the base and maximum? Would that be a good idea? TTEchidna 01:49, 11 November 2009 (UTC)
You could, but I think it would be overly confusing since they can deviate too far from the base too often. For example, it's possible to have a Zapdos with 1/5, 2/5, 3/5, 4/5, 5/5 stars in power based on nature. An adamant Zapados for example could either be 3/5 (base), 4/5 or 5/5 depending on the day. Since there is already a list of how much they deviate on the performance page based on nature, I would think that if anything, put the species base and max on each Pokémon page and then make the performance page go into further depth on how the performance system works if need be. That way it tells people that they change regularly and how much they are changing. (Yaminokame 01:59, 11 November 2009 (UTC))

←Well then. I'll see what I can do to recode it, then. Think I should use the ☆★ stars? Some people say they don't display... I don't wanna overload on images, though, since that's what has caused server issues in the past with the movelists. TTEchidna 05:12, 11 November 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, I see that problem, ☆★ kind of stars I guess technically are "special" characters that people need to turn on support to see. Kind of like how for me ¥ is the yen sign, but to others it is just a backslash. Unfortunately I am going to go ahead and guess that a lot of people are not going to have support turned on to view them... and there are really a lot that need to be displayed, which is going to make it hard to do pictures. Since the system is text stars right now though maybe it should stay that way until a better way is found? Ultimately it's screwed one way and screwed another though :/ (Yaminokame 05:30, 11 November 2009 (UTC))
I see a yen sign. What OS? What encoding? ¥ is what it is for me. And the point is though... we use the special stars else where, like with Pokémon ☆... TTEchidna 06:53, 11 November 2009 (UTC)
Well, the computer I have came with that ability turned on already, but I know that some of the older computers don't. Anything up to Windows ME (I believe) is a real pain to get it to show foreign characters. I may be wrong, but I had a Windows XP, and if I remember correctly, it wouldn't show them either until I turned on 'additional support for East Asian languages' in the control panel (before that they just come out as numbers and letters). Once I turned that on though I didn't have to mess around with encoding or anything, the characters showed themselves. (Yaminokame 08:12, 11 November 2009 (UTC))
And apparently Vista onwards supports them automatically, meaning pretty much that we should treat non-support of them as outdated. TTEchidna 08:29, 11 November 2009 (UTC)
Sounds good to me :) To be honest, I have been running into this problem a lot less often recently. A few weeks ago I saw someone quoted what I had said and it came out as strange letters, but those people have truly become few and far between. You should be good to go with the text stars. (Yaminokame 09:50, 11 November 2009 (UTC))
I tried my hand at it here, but the Stars template needw to be updated (as seen on the same page). I also had no idea what to do with some of the totals stuff, but maybe you could try working with it?--MisterE13 02:23, 15 November 2009 (UTC)
Well, now that the Pokémon pages are unlocked and I can change it as well, I'll be happy to help out with the conversion whenever the template gets the update. Hopefully we can update it pretty soon. (@ above, I still think we should get rid of the total section, it doesn't seem necessary) (Yaminokame 02:52, 15 November 2009 (UTC))
Make sure the parameters are consistent. Tell me which you choose to use so I can put them in. TTEchidna 03:43, 15 November 2009 (UTC)

It should be good, I was too lazy to set up a subpage though. We just need to figure out the categories :S.--MisterE13 00:12, 17 November 2009 (UTC)

Considering we don't have categories based on the stat numbers (like 416 for example, for Lugia's HP), but instead on the base stats... 'thlon should use the max number, since that is the base for the species. And we have them there right now... just at different names. We could switch them and delete the old categories, so... yeah. Easily done. TTEchidna 00:42, 17 November 2009 (UTC)
Um boss... you messed up the categorization, the fixed ones are put in the broken category instead of the other way around... no biggie though.--MisterE13 02:36, 17 November 2009 (UTC)
Nothing's wrong. The job queue is doing its job; the task is not instantaneous, meaning it will take time to get the category properly stocked up. You can do it faster by null-editing each of the Pokémon species pages, though...
(Just for the record, by "null-editing", I'm referring to the act of going into the editing phase and clicking "Save page" without changing anything at all. There will be nothing in the recent changes, but anything involving that page in the job queue will have finished...) --Shiningpikablu252 02:44, 17 November 2009 (UTC)
Or, I could just include the right details, someone's also gonna have to fix List of Pokémon by performance stats :/.--MisterE13 02:49, 17 November 2009 (UTC)
Urk. Reall that doesn't matter. We don't list the actual stats that base stats cause here, so why can't we just leave that at "max 'thlon stats"? TTEchidna 03:33, 17 November 2009 (UTC)

I'm not sure...

I created a custom sprite that I want to use for my user page. Because it is not on the interne and I obviously can't just post the image from my computer without uploading it. I know that you have much experience with bulbapedia, so I ask, would it be right for me to upload an image to bulbapedia for the sole purpose of making my userspace look cool, and is there a specific policy against it? ----GEN1KING (TALK) 04:20, 11 November 2009 (UTC)

You may upload up to two personal images on the Archives (see link in sidebar). When you do this, please select "personal image" from the dropdown menu on the upload screen, so we know exactly what it's for. —darklordtrom 04:25, 11 November 2009 (UTC)
Thank you and I appreciate it! ----GEN1KING (TALK) 04:28, 11 November 2009 (UTC)

Merge

I'll keep this short: Should Tri-Pass and Rainbow Pass be merged? CuboneKing 21:06, 11 November 2009 (UTC)

Into? Each other, no. A general boat tickets page, maybe. The Gen III key item listing, definitely. TTEchidna 00:17, 12 November 2009 (UTC)

Pokédex Entries

I'm trying to edit the Pokédex entries for HG and SS, since many are empty, but I can't seem to edit the Pokémon pages. Since your the editor-in-chief, you might know how to access these paths.

--Maarrill-Rockss 22:36, 13 November 2009 (UTC)

The Pokémon pages are currently protected, but are supposed to automatically unprotect themselves on the 15th. If you can't wait a couple of days then post the edits you would like to be made on the talk page and an admin will get around to making the edit. Werdnae (talk) 22:45, 13 November 2009 (UTC)
Also, by the way, HGSS entries aren't yet done in English... TTEchidna 23:41, 13 November 2009 (UTC)

Oh boy...

I think the link speaks for itself:ban the user?- unsigned comment from immewnity (talkcontribs)

Ouch. I'd say we first talk to said user. I've given it an ultimatum of three days or banhammer. Good catch though. TTEchidna 19:56, 15 November 2009 (UTC)
I was talking to evan about it, and this is what we came up with. MaverickNate 20:00, 15 November 2009 (UTC)
Hmm. Well, still, I want a dang explanation. TTEchidna 00:41, 16 November 2009 (UTC)

It quite sad

That you're the only experienced template maker around at this time. Anyway, I forgot how to rowspan columns, I need to know because I'm making a Template for voice actors and want to make 2 sections for the English VA's (one for 4kids the other for PUSA). You can do it yourself if you want. As you can see I stole the body from here.--ForceFire 08:30, 16 November 2009 (UTC)

colspan="OVER 9000" —darklordtrom 08:33, 16 November 2009 (UTC)
What?--ForceFire 08:43, 16 November 2009 (UTC)
Two sections for English VA? colspan="X" and rowspan="X" are what works. Check other tables, it's how I did it. TTEchidna 08:49, 16 November 2009 (UTC)
Alright, it currently looks horrible. I may need some serious help.--ForceFire 09:06, 16 November 2009 (UTC)
It's fricking huge. Leeeeave the job of the categories to the categories for some things. TTEchidna 09:12, 16 November 2009 (UTC)
Seem like you're offline. Should I do two separate templates, one for English and one for Japanese, or put two in one. I'm actusally trying to do the latter.--ForceFire 07:19, 17 November 2009 (UTC)
Just... leave it to the category. There's no need for a template since these people are nearly entirely unrelated. TTEchidna 08:26, 17 November 2009 (UTC)
Okay then.--ForceFire 08:34, 17 November 2009 (UTC)

Ooh, deleting...

Well, I'd like you guys to delete my Bulbapedia account (if you can, of course) beause I never go on it anymore. Also, its taking up space on whatever template/userspace/whatever you call it. The site already has a bunch of problems with the user pages and stuff, so it might not be such a bad idea to get rid of old members like me who dont use their accounts anymore! So thank you! Mooites 02:47, 17 November 2009 (UTC)

We don't delete accounts. We can delete userpages, but they're on the server in the database pretty much forever. Throw up a {{delete}} tag and someone will get to it when they can. TTEchidna 03:32, 17 November 2009 (UTC)

Wanted Pages Problem

I've spotted File:EggMS.png, File:000MS.png, and File:003MS.png languish around in the wanted pages, despite the fact that the "What Links Here" for each respective file on the Bulbapedia side (I linked to the Archives side to avoid adding these links to the Bulbapedia side) lists nothing aside from image links. I don't know what's causing this bug or how to fix it. Any ideas? --Shiningpikablu252 16:43, 17 November 2009 (UTC)

Did you do any link-changing today? Because if so, they'll remain until the cache clears at midnight CDT (6 AM UTC), in just about 12 hours. If they weren't fixed today... then I can't be sure what's causing the problem... and will then talk to Zhen about it. TTEchidna 17:57, 17 November 2009 (UTC)
Those three links been like this for a few days now. --Shiningpikablu252 18:02, 17 November 2009 (UTC)
Hrm. Well if they don't go away tonight, I'll see what we can do. TTEchidna 18:03, 17 November 2009 (UTC)
Still going on today. And 000 is now listed as having two links in the wanted pages, but filtering out image links doesn't show a thing! --Shiningpikablu252 16:09, 18 November 2009 (UTC)
Strange. I'll have to take care of this. TTEchidna 19:23, 18 November 2009 (UTC)

Server should be fine, we're not at peak hours yet. TTEchidna 20:10, 18 November 2009 (UTC)
Didn't we already take care of the MS link? The reason it would still be on there is because it is incorrectly linked on a page that also has an image link. It's happened before: that was the problem previously MaverickNate 01:48, 19 November 2009 (UTC)
Well either way it won't vanish for another three and a half hours... TTEchidna 02:22, 19 November 2009 (UTC)

Finally finished!!

Okay, all the Pokemon have their Pokethlon performance values filled in including Spiky-eared Pichu. The only Pokemon that has not been updated is Arceus because it is locked. Other than that everything is there :) (Yaminokame 16:27, 19 November 2009 (UTC))

I did Arceus already. Recheck it for me though... and make sure that the forme changers change fine. TTEchidna 19:05, 19 November 2009 (UTC)
Okay, I noticed that I had messed up originally and switched stamina and technique for one of them, but I fixed it. All Pokemon that can have more than one form are correct now. The only other one with a problem other than that Arceus mess-up was that somehow I missed the Jump stat on Unown A-Z... I've checked a lot of others and so far everything else seems okay. If there is a major problem I am sure that someone will be able to find it because it is very noticeable when there is a mistake (especially 4/3 or something like that) I'll keep an eye out just in case there are any other mistakes. I would say it looks really good now though! (Yaminokame 01:21, 20 November 2009 (UTC))
Perfect. TTEchidna 03:56, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
I hope the template update was satisfactory.--MisterE13 22:09, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
It is. Needed to do only minor alterations. TTEchidna 00:24, 21 November 2009 (UTC)

Need to let you know on something

I've been handling the walkthroughs lately and right now I am spending my time working Ruby and Sapphires walkthrough, but my problem is I can't post some of the Route-related images because they are part of Emerald and I noticed the ones that were replaced on the different routes were the Ruby and Sapphire ones that were originally posted by you a few years back (I only go for route stuff with noteworthy differences) and I thought I should let you know since I do not do image posting at all though I can spread it around.

Also I'll need some supervision to help check for spelling/grammer, when I write something effective as I know a useful game mechanic trick with the PokéNav's Trainer Eye/Match Call that I use very regularly and I can give you the details since it is easy to know if your are interested. -Tyler53841 06:07, 25 November 2009 (UTC)

Well, your grammar seems fine here, and I don't think it's too much of a bad thing to use the Emerald route images... I suppose you could always use the history function and reupload the RS route image under a different filename, though.
Anyway, what's this trick in RSE? TTEchidna 06:12, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
The more often you go onto a route that has that trainer on it the better chance that they will challenge the player again. The only trouble with this trick is the amount of time it takes which is random, but the advantage is that they player can challenge that trainer at just about whenever they want and it helps against a Trainer of an item you can steal like Black Belt Nob.
Some examples is that Aroma Lady Rose on Route 118 is an easy example to use where by using the Mach Bike to flash between the point of the Route entrance and Mauville I talk to her after a while. While Hiker Trent on Route 112 is a little harder to do. Or for a cave exclusive trainer like Dragon Tamer Nicolas I do it at the ladder for the chamber he is at repeatedly and it works well. These are examples that you should be aware of if you wish to confirm this, and I recommend the trainers on Route 118, just remember you need five badges first.
As for the images I'll use my Sandbox but I need help with the Meteor Falls one since it is shared image though I'll understand if you say no.-Tyler53841 06:24, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
Shared image? Wha? I'm confused... Just... put the maps we have ripped from the games themselves. TTEchidna 06:27, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
What I meant was both images of the first part of Meteor Falls were presented in the same image which I confirmed by clicking on it as for finding a seperate image, it would be difficult since it would be hard to find one right now, but anyway lets talk about the PokéNav mechanic trick I know about. -Tyler53841 06:35, 25 November 2009 (UTC)

So anyway I got what I am going to write down on the PokéNav page and kept it short and simple so let me know and I'll post it. -Tyler53841 07:01, 25 November 2009 (UTC)

Hmm... well, basically as long as you say that moving between locations increases the chance of a Trainer being able to rebattle, and list Trainers near the borders of areas... you're good. I mean, eventually, if you go between two areas enough, you'll have everyone lighting up. TTEchidna 07:05, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
Done, go and check it out if you like but I decided to hold back on the image problem for now since I am also using my Sapphire copy to help with the Walkthroughs and I don't really have the skill. But the only reason why I left you know about this game trick was to make sure someone was aware of this before I posted this, but I have definitely confirmed this works in Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald. -Tyler53841 07:08, 25 November 2009 (UTC)

Strange trivia about Leaf

This guy has been adding this a few times in the trivia section of Leaf's article: "When playing as Leaf many lines that reflected the originally set gender of Red are unchanged. This includes lines with sexual undertones, such as a female trainer in Rock Tunnel who says "Ew! Don't try anything funny in the dark!"." I find odd that he admits that the Picnicker at the Rock Tunnel says that with a sexual undertone. First, even if it ever did, this guy obviously fails at understanding lesbianism as a perfectly normal biological and psychological condition. Since this meaning has very low possibilities of having a contextual validity, the other logical meaning is that the Picnicker is scared due to the darkness present in the cave, thus having difficulty in observing the surroundings. I also wonder if he can refer to the lines that don't reflect the gender difference. 'Cause the TV at Leaf's house does reflect the change. However, since I haven't played as Leaf for much, I don't know if his statement is true. Either way, we have to keep an eye on him because an edit war might start from that, considering that his stubbornness makes him abuse of his power as a contributing editor beforehand. Way ahead of you, man. We've already got people keeping an eye out, so don't worry. --Darkeiya talk to me! 00:00, 26 November 2009 (UTC)

Virus attack?

Everytime I go to Bulbapedia, Adobe reader shows a 'stopped working' message. It appears twice and then it says that Adobe Reader was closed by the computer for security reasons. 1-3 months ago, I was attacked by a trojan horse that I fought off. This had happened once before. The first time I got away but the second time I executed an emergency shutdown. The Adobe Reader glitch has been happening since then. The same thing happened the first time but with Nero Home instead. Nero home, however, sometime shows that goddamn annoying message randomly. Nero Home only shows 1 stopped working message. Please look into this for the sake of my computer. SilverCharmeleon 06:23, 26 November 2009 (UTC)

Are you logged in or not when this occurs? It might be a glitch on your end, and it might be in one of the ads we have... if you've got any further details, there's a thread on the forums for reporting bad ads. TTEchidna 07:13, 26 November 2009 (UTC)
I don't think I was, cuz it was several months ago. I got Windows 7 recently and it stopped. By the way, I was using Vista when the ad appeared. Something similar happens on Wikia now but IE8 saved me. BTW, Adobe Reader successfuly launches then. The Sims Wiki also contains a virus on the Sunset Valley page so I don't recommend going to that page. I could barely boot anything so I restarted.
IE...
Yeah I think I found your problem.
Get Firefox. TTEchidna 22:27, 2 December 2009 (UTC)
Now now, don't be so hard on IE. I don't think it was completely at fault here.
Most likely it was Vista. 梅子 22:45, 2 December 2009 (UTC)
I have Vista. BP works fine. Of course whenever I do use IE, I'm logged in. TTEchidna 22:56, 2 December 2009 (UTC)
A slightly different version occurs on Photobucket. SilverCharmeleon
I'm betting you likely already have a virus, in which case it's taking its activation cues from ads. TTEchidna 04:23, 8 December 2009 (UTC)
F***!!!!!! I hate viruses! I THOUGHT WINDOWS 7 WAS SAFE! GODDAMMIT! SilverCharmeleon 05:54, 9 December 2009 (UTC)

Advertisements

Hello, I am horribly sorry to bother you. (I know you're thinking "Not sorry enough.") I have an issue with some of the advertisements displayed on Bulbapedia. I know that once people agree to have advertisements displayed on a website, it's troublesome to get certain ones not displayed, but...

Okay, I saw an Evony advertisement and was somewhat disturbed. I'm sure you have seen plenty of those and know what I'm talking about. I think that someone should make an effort to control the display of those particular ads because I know that children reference to this website. One of my cousins uses this quite often, and he's in fourth grade.

I have only seen about three of these ads in my time here, but of course I'm not sure how much money you would lose if you got rid of the Evony ads... hopefully not a major amount. Perhaps you can do something about it, perhaps not. I'd just be satisfied to know someone tried! Thank you, JohtoAkima 19:05, 27 November 2009 (UTC).

P.S. (This is for laughs.) If the advertisements are based off of a user's clickstream, the most "suggestive" page I was on in the past hour was Domino's.

If there are any issues with ads that you happen to see on the Bulbawiki Network, please check out and report them at the Bad ad reporting thread. Thanks, - Kogoro | Talk to me - 19:16, 27 November 2009 (UTC)
Thank you! I will do that the next time I see one while I'm not logged in. JohtoAkima 21:36, 27 November 2009 (UTC)

13th Movie

Uhm The front web page ? http://bulbanews.bulbagarden.net/wiki/The_Pok%C3%A9mon_Company_Opens_Official_Twitter_Page and the official twitter page which revealed that Arceus could be in a cameo in a future movie which means they're surely to make a new movie.

Duh? And? Doesn't mean it needs a page, especially one that's not even categorized. Generations V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, and X have redirect pages, but that's to prevent funny business. Movie 13 doesn't have any "future Pokémon movies" page to link to, and one will not be created, because although the movies follow a somewhat formulaic plot, there's no way to predict exactly what will happen. TTEchidna 05:24, 9 December 2009 (UTC)

Since the thirteenth movie Title has been revealed can I please make the 13th Pokemon Movie Page ? - unsigned comment from Mr.Anonymous (talkcontribs)

Already made. Several redirects already exist. TTEchidna 05:53, 11 December 2009 (UTC)

Since HeartGold and SoulSilver aren't part of the Diamond and Pearl Series should'nt it be in a new section or Do we leave it for now ? - unsigned comment from Mr.Anonymous (talkcontribs)

HGSS aren't part of DP? Says who? It's a Diamond & Pearl series movie, it says right on the poster, I just put the gold and silver colorscheme on it on the page because it's about Johto legendaries. TTEchidna 06:03, 11 December 2009 (UTC)

Inconsistency...

We have a major issue going on. Pages like Cobalt Coast only show info on its appearances in Pokémon Channel, not mentioning Hey You, Pikachu at all. Also, Hey You Pikachu also states that Cobalt Coast is in Kanto, therefore meaning that Mintale Town is in Kanto. To solve the issue, mention that Mintale Town is in Kanto, merge Viridian Forest (Channel) into Viridian Forest and include references to Hey You Pikachu to the Channel pages. Inconsistencies solved. SilverCharmeleon 06:01, 9 December 2009 (UTC)

I never played either HYP or PC. So I wouldn't have a dang clue. TTEchidna 07:31, 9 December 2009 (UTC)
The Mintale Town map looks nothing like Kanto. The Pikachu games just use shared location names like the Zelda franchise. And the pre-Gamecube era side games have poor coverage in general. --FabuVinny |Talk Page| 13:39, 13 December 2009 (UTC)

Continuing the evoboxes

First, I took care of the Hitmons with the existing template (not Tyrogue, only the 3 evos). Second, this is for non-evolving Pokémon with up to 6 forms. Thoughts? --electAbuzzzz 15:22, 11 December 2009 (UTC)

It's nice. Put it into use. Except with Missingno. Glitches get their own thing so they don't categorize with real Pokémon. TTEchidna 18:28, 11 December 2009 (UTC)
Missingno currently uses the main one. One should I replace it with? I wanna delete the old one. --electAbuzzzz 19:18, 11 December 2009 (UTC)
Make a separate template that works somewhat the same, but doesn't categorize. TTEchidna 21:26, 11 December 2009 (UTC)
Won't it be easier adding a "glitch" parameter that, when equals "yes", cancels the categories? --electAbuzzzz 13:45, 13 December 2009 (UTC)
Maybe. You wanna program it, go for it. TTEchidna 01:33, 14 December 2009 (UTC)

OK, that's done. I also updated the style of Arceus, Unown, and the Nincada line in their respective templates. Wormadam is also taken care of with the main template. That leaves us with:

  • Tyrogue, Eevee, Burmy. I'm guessing we'll still let each of them have its own template.
  • Cherubi and Cherrim. I'm thinking we should do them with the main regular template, and just have Cherrim switch sprites.
  • Mothim. Again, I think the main template with a switching Burmy form would be just fine.

Thoughts? --electAbuzzzz 13:11, 14 December 2009 (UTC)

Sounds like a plan. Also, are all other boxes programmed for the glitch parameter? TTEchidna 20:30, 14 December 2009 (UTC)

About the version templates in certain tables...

I think there's something wrong with them. Look here. Why are the Red and Blue/Gold and Silver/FireRed lines much shorter (vertically) than the rest? Shouldn't they have the same size? Pokemon lover 19:44, 15 December 2009 (UTC)

The images are affecting the vertical height of the rows they're in. There's a bit of extra black space on the Gen I map and the Gen II map is tiny. Couple that with the fact that there's three versions in Gen I and three in Gen II, but only two in Gen III... you get a vertical size difference. It doesn't really matter, as long as the size is equal between the rows of a given generation. Look at the sprites template used on all Pokémon pages. Gen I and II have 56×56 sprites, Gen III has 64×64, Gen IV has 80×80. There's a size difference there, too. And when something gets thumbnailed, it's based on the width, not the height, so if you really wanted to make them all of equal size you'd be throwing the widths out of whack and you'd have to calculate something like what I had to do when the show went HD. Here's a thing: don't bother with it, it's just fine as it is. TTEchidna 19:54, 15 December 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for answering. Not that I wanted to change them; it's just I found weird and decided to clear up things. ;-) Pokemon lover 19:59, 15 December 2009 (UTC)

No I'm Not Saying Anything About The Species Articles . . .

I haven't found this anywhere so . . . how many subpages are users aloud to have? I am only asking this because my userpage is getting lengthy and I want to make subpages to place some of the info. --Merry Christmas! Landfish7 21:00, 15 December 2009 (UTC)

Ugh, aloudallowed... Pokemon lover 21:56, 15 December 2009 (UTC)
Pretty much whatever you think is reasonable. Aside from those crappy games where people had a tiny amount of code on 30 or 40 different pages, we haven't had much issue with people having too many userspace pages. Just make sure the focus remains on the mainspace or on mainspaceable things.
Also, PL, I'll take care of grammatical criticisms. So stop giving me edit conflicts, dammit. TTEchidna 21:56, 15 December 2009 (UTC)
OK, I won't mess with your work as EiC. =P Pokemon lover 22:01, 15 December 2009 (UTC)

NoJ, Pokémon Red and Blue

Can you tell me why did NoJ refer to Red and Blue in their own mid-1990's Red and Green page? Here's the link: http://www.nintendo.co.jp/n02/dmg/apajapbj/index.html Pokemon lover 22:01, 15 December 2009 (UTC)

Nah, forget it. Google Translator's fail for translating 緑 as Blue and my fail for believing it. =S Pokemon lover 22:05, 15 December 2009 (UTC)
Wah wah wah. Kanji recognition fail. TTEchidna 02:43, 16 December 2009 (UTC)

Walkthroughs

I wrapped up work on the Yellow walkthrough. Unless you've got plans ready for Crystal, I'm going to move on to Gen III. --KCorp4000 04:11, 16 December 2009 (UTC)

No Crystal for a while... but I do want to create a standard design for the walkthroughs that's better than a simple text-based list before you do Gen III, and then we can do Crystal. Contact me on AIM. TTEchidna 06:00, 16 December 2009 (UTC)

sc

can you explain me what is the meaning of the sc-tag? and why should it be in the wonder cards? --Hanmac 07:06, 17 December 2009 (UTC)

Makes things smallcaps. It's just a style thing. TTEchidna 07:10, 17 December 2009 (UTC)
but why isnt it not inserted into the template directly? so you mussnt put it into the parameter --Hanmac 07:14, 17 December 2009 (UTC)
Causes issues. You can't just hide it outside of a tag... it'll screw up things... Or else someone just didn't, and we would then have to go around fixing every one of them so we don't get double-SCs... TTEchidna 07:16, 17 December 2009 (UTC)
hm how about a optional parameter? like s-caps and no s-caps --Hanmac 07:28, 17 December 2009 (UTC)
Would be a nice idea. But considering I'm currently in the middle of another couple of huge edits... ergh. No way for me to do it now. TTEchidna 07:35, 17 December 2009 (UTC)

Could you translate me this:

まえに かかねた レポートが きえて しまいますが うえから かいても いいですか?

Please? Pokemon lover 16:55, 17 December 2009 (UTC)

I think it means " The report which it combines can come before, but it is possible to scratch from above, is? ". Translated it with the help of translator. --♫♪Adyniz♪♫ 17:25, 17 December 2009 (UTC)
So basically it says that in order to save the report it has to overwrite the previous/current one, amirite? Pokemon lover 22:06, 17 December 2009 (UTC)
Lemme guess, you just got a Japanese game and tried to save.
In Japan, the save option is レポート Report, which is why its icon is a notebook. It's basically, "There is already a saved file. Is it okay to overwrite it?" Same stuff we've had since Gen II. TTEchidna 01:05, 18 December 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for the info. ;-)
Actually, I got the you-know-what of Pokémon Red and Green and that question was made after I confirmed that I wanted to save the game. And this was on the first save. In the second and following attempts to save, it just asks you to confirm the process like usual, with the only difference from the JP Blue, Yellow, US/EUR/AU Red, Blue, and Yellow being the lack of the "Now saving..." or "Saving..." message (yes, it is practically instantaneous). Pokemon lover 13:29, 18 December 2009 (UTC)
Searching further, I found that the question is also made in JP Blue but not JP Yellow, and JP Blue doesn't have the message either.
All this is already on the Red, Green, and Blue articles. ;-) Pokemon lover 17:25, 18 December 2009 (UTC)
That's odd. I would've completely sworn that the question was in JP Blue but it seems it isn't. Anyways, I'm gonna update the info on Pokémon Blue's article. Pokemon lover 17:40, 18 December 2009 (UTC)

Downloading the Database

Is it possible to download the Bulbapedia database for off line usage? Wikipedia already has that feature. And if we could download a (stripped down) plain text version of the database, we could read it on-the-road using a flash cartridge. Orca 20:11, 20 December 2009 (UTC)

I don't believe we have it yet, but we are thinking about doing it one day down the road. TTEchidna 04:00, 21 December 2009 (UTC)

Ugh...

Capture-1.png

What does this mean? It's an error message from the original Japanese version of Pokesav for HGSS, version 0.03a. Pokemon lover 22:47, 20 December 2009 (UTC)

BTW, the reason I'm using Pokesav is because I want to make some tests with the GB Player, right from when the games' adventure begins. ;-) Pokemon lover 22:50, 20 December 2009 (UTC)
"Failed to open the file." 梅子 00:42, 21 December 2009 (UTC)
Like the Rocket battle theme? Considering Giovanni uses it, it's programmed in, I believe. TTEchidna 03:59, 21 December 2009 (UTC)
Yes, it's those kind of tracks I want to check. Kinda to satisfy my own curiosity. =D
About Pokesav failing to open the SAV file, I don't know why that is happening. The file has the right size and the zip I downloaded the app from had the right MD5 hash. I'm running Pokesav with Microsoft AppLocale in Windows 7, so the app's Japanese is rendered correctly (instead of obnoxious question marks). Microsoft doesn't seem to be at fault here since changing the locale for non-Unicode apps directly in Windows's settings causes the same effect. Also tried running Pokesav in Compatibility Mode for XP SP3 and Vista SP2, then running with AppLocale, to no avail. =S Any suggestions for this problem? Pokemon lover 14:08, 21 December 2009 (UTC)
Absolutely none. TTEchidna 20:36, 21 December 2009 (UTC)

Advanced

That would be me calling it the Advanced series. What am I suppose to call it? Littlmiget123 12:56, 21 December 2009 (UTC)

Advanced Generation. It's the Advanced Generation series; the word "series" is already programmed into the template, so all you have to do is italicize it and name it properly. And if you do DP, it's Diamond & Pearl, not Diamond and Pearl. The ampersand is an important distinction that keeps EX FireRed & LeafGreen away from Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen, and so on... DP just has... a hellllllll of a lot of different things named for it. TTEchidna 20:34, 21 December 2009 (UTC)
Okay, now can you answer me this? Which is right in the Original series Pokedex entries, original series with a lowercase o, or Original series with an uppercase o? Littlmiget123 21:22, 21 December 2009 (UTC)
Considering the title of the series isn't "Original series", but that that is in fact a designation that separates it from the other two, lowercase it unless it begins a sentence. TTEchidna 04:35, 22 December 2009 (UTC)

I have seen a NEW GLITCH POKéMON!

Erm, I have seen a NEW glitch Pokémon. [1] Please take a look...Db 22:57, 21 December 2009 (UTC)

That was hacked though. It was specifically using something to alter what the other trainer did. And there really isn't a glitch Pokémon that appears, the screen just gets screwed up. R.A. Hunter Blade 05:01, 22 December 2009 (UTC)
I dunno, an 8B 4 8... I think we have that article. TTEchidna 05:01, 22 December 2009 (UTC)
We have a 4B 8 4 8, but not 8B 4 8. R.A. Hunter Blade 05:08, 22 December 2009 (UTC)
Seems like that's what was going to be sent out. Improbable that a glitch with such a similar name would be in the games; it's probably that I didn't catch the name right. TTEchidna 08:00, 22 December 2009 (UTC)
Read the video's description. The effect the glitch had was because he was using an emulator; playing on the GB would've make the opposite trainer sent out the Pokémon normally but when attempting to battle, it would simply end. ;-)
BTW, don't you think that is enough already of Gen I glitches? I mean, Red and Blue were launched 11 years ago in NA and they still manage to find new sorts of glitches as well as variants of already known ones. =S Pokemon lover 10:43, 22 December 2009 (UTC)
And that's what I was essentially saying at first. He's not only using an emulator, but he's hacking the game to change what the trainers are doing. There's a large chance that this would never happen using the actual cartridge. R.A. Hunter Blade 16:55, 22 December 2009 (UTC)
That as well. We decided to kill AR/Shark glitches, since they're caused by making the game do something that wasn't legitimately programmed in. TTEchidna 01:29, 23 December 2009 (UTC)

I don't know what to put as an headline....

TTE, I just can't imagine Bulbapedia without you. You are a natural born leader, and I also have a question. Can we battle some time on Wi-Fi? I registered your Soul Silver friend code. Check my page for my friend code for Pearl. But, go easy on me, my strongest is a level 42 Infernape. I wanted to introduce myself because I would like to know my Editor-In-Chief. I'll see ya! -Question Marx

WFC matches can be made to put Pokémon at level 100 automatically, so even though my SS team's only in the mid-60's, they'd be the same level. Anyway, I might be available sometime in the next few days, I don't know. TTEchidna 08:31, 27 December 2009 (UTC)

Question

What do you think of this? CuboneKing 03:59, 28 December 2009 (UTC)

Hmm... Might be a good idea, but the colors look terrible. TTEchidna 04:03, 28 December 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, they just sprouted into my head as I was making it. What colors would be good on there? CuboneKing 04:04, 28 December 2009 (UTC)
Find some. Just... not those sandy colors. TTEchidna 04:06, 28 December 2009 (UTC)
Sorry I keep bugging you, but how about now? CuboneKing 04:14, 28 December 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, still seems icky. TTEchidna 04:32, 28 December 2009 (UTC)
Colours as variables would be nice. You could use colours that match the site. Virtual-Z 04:33, 28 December 2009 (UTC)
OK, I'll do that... It'll look intimidating on the template page though... CuboneKing 04:35, 28 December 2009 (UTC)
Now that that's done...? CuboneKing 04:40, 28 December 2009 (UTC)
We'll discuss it. It'll have a decision made by the new year. TTEchidna 04:48, 28 December 2009 (UTC)

DP160 Edit Request.

It will be greatly appreciated if you can edit DP160. The magazine scan for DP160 is in the Discussion Section, it shows some of the Pokémon participating. Thanks. User:BAC510 05:26 December 29, 2009 (UTC)

On it as soon as I can. TTEchidna 09:23, 28 December 2009 (UTC)
Done. Virtual-Z 09:33, 28 December 2009 (UTC)
