Pokémon world locations |
The Dragon's Den (Japanese: りゅうのあな Dragon's Den) is a location in Johto that is accessible in the Generation II games and their Generation IV counterparts.
It is inaccessible before defeating Clair in the Blackthorn Gym, as it is blocked off by a man in front of the cave, and then it must be traversed to finally obtain the Rising Badge.
In Pokémon Crystal, HeartGold and SoulSilver, many strong Trainers can be found within the cavern. The Master of the Dragon User Clan is located here, and he will quiz the player on their attitude towards and treatment of their Pokémon. If the player gives compassionate answers, the player will be rewarded with a Dratini that knows ExtremeSpeed (though this requires speaking to Clair on the way to the cave exit, and then returning to speak with the Master once more).
Silver can be found here, contemplating his training on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and Clair will visit to reward the player with the Rising Badge she refused to award in the Blackthorn Gym, as well as TM24 (DragonBreath)GSC or TM59 (Dragon Pulse)HGSS.
In Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver, after the battle against Silver at Mt. Moon, Lance and Clair will appear to challenge the player and Silver to a Tag Battle. Also in these games, should the player receive the Rising Badge from Clair and then proceed to leave the Dragon's Den through Dig, Teleport, or an Escape Rope, then they must return to her Gym in order to collect the TM.

In Pokémon Crystal, HeartGold and SoulSilver, it is possible to obtain a Dratini with ExtremeSpeed:

---|---|---|
What are Pokémon to you? | Pal/Ally Friend |
Underling/Junior |
What helps you to win battles? | Strategy Raising/Training |
Cheating |
What kind of Trainer do you wish to battle? | Anybody/Anyone | Tough person Weak person |
What is most important for raising Pokémon? | Love Knowledge |
Violence |
Strong Pokémon. Weak Pokémon. Which is more important? | Both | Tough/Strength Weak/Weakness |
After completing the quiz, the player will then need to receive TM24 (DragonBreath)C or TM59 (Dragon Pulse)HGSS from Clair. After this, returning to the Dragon's Den elder will result in him giving the Dratini to the player.
