Reason: Confirm levels and other data for Lysandre Labs Pokémon

A second research lab

Grisham and Griselle will take you into Lysandre Café and tell you that there is a secret lab – called Lysandre Labs – in the basement of the building, where you will find the truth. This works like one of the dungeons from older games, with a labyrinthine layout, teleporters, and wild Pokémon to fight. There are also some good items here if you are willing to search every corner of the basement.

Pokémon Levels Time of day Weather
Day Night Clear Harsh sunlight Cloudy Rain Fog
Fixed alpha Pokémon spawns
Non-fixed wild alpha Pokémon always have a 5% chance to spawn as alpha unless specified otherwise, once the player has completed Main Mission 05: "The City in the Shadow of Prism Tower".

Inside Lysandre’s labyrinth

The lab is split into three main areas that can only be explored once the power source for that area has been turned on. When you arrive in the first area of the lab, take the path to the right and you will find the power source on the south wall of the room you emerge from. This will turn two teleporters on. Taking the warp pad furthest from the power source will reward you with a Dawn Stone, while the closer warp pad leads you to Lab Key Card A. Return through the teleporter and backtrack to the first room you entered in the labs.

The Lab Key will unlock the door to the left of the elevator, and give us access to the green area of the map. The power supply for this zone is in the right hand corner at the bottom of the map. Go through the two warp pads in the area and you’ll end up on the other half of the room with the power supply that was previously cut off. This area holds Lab Key Card B. With the key in hand you can backtrack through the pads to return to the main area of the green zone and you will be able to unlock the door in this room.

As you enter the purple zone, the room on the left contains Beldum and Metang, and this is our first opportunity to catch a Pokémon from this line. Even better, they are at a high enough level that you can evolve them straight into Metagross and gain another Mega Evolution capable Pokémon.

The next power supply is in the narrow purple room next to the green offshoot. Follow the warp pads and you'll end up in a large open room with Ekans and Arbok. Lab Key Card C is at the back. Then take the exit on the right to find the door that Lab Key Card C opens. It leads to a room with an Alpha Aegislash and two Honedge which you need to defeat before you can move on.

Learning the truth

The room behind the Alpha Aegislash holds the elevator key, and you should turn on the power supply on the wall to activate the teleporter in the room. This warp pad will then take you back to the entrance. You need to take the lift to B3F and you'll hear the story of AZ’s machine. Select every option, and then Lysandre and Zygarde show up. Lysandre says there is a device hidden in Prism Tower.

Lysandre claims that when he launched the ultimate weapon five years ago (in Pokémon X and Y), it was Zygarde that saved him and all of the people around it. Zygarde was weakened by the explosion, and now needs to regain its full power so that it can destroy the device in Prism Tower and save the citizens of Lumiose City. However, there are still some Zygarde Cells lost in the city.

Returning to the Café, Grisham then asks you to give Team Flare Nouveau AZ’s Eternal Flower Floette. This will not only allow them to protect Lumiose, but in doing so they will also be able to change people's public perception of the group. You need to return to Hotel Z and discuss the proposition with the rest of Team MZ.

When you arrive at the hotel, AZ gathers everyone on the roof to discuss Prism Tower. He explains that he created Ange, the device inside Prism Tower. This device was supposed to give life, but is now spilling Mega Energy out into the city, leading to these Rogue Mega Evolutions. He says that a trainer must Mega Evolve Floette, and take it to Ange to disable the device.

Battle bus

Before we return to Grisham to tell him that we will not be handing over Floette, and to challenge him to our Promotion Match, we need to earn our Challenger's Ticket. Our last ticket is the biggest yet, and requires 45,000 points in order to grab it. Either wait until nighttime or change the time at a bench so that you can activate the Battle Zone. Focus on high value Bonus Cards so that you are able to collect the points you need in one trip.

Hitting Rank A

You are now ready to battle Grisham. Talk to him at Nouveau Café with your ticket in order to start the battle. Grisham has a very diverse team with a level 61 Pangoro, Malamar, and Pyroar, a level 62 Tyranitar and Salamence, and a level 63 Charizard that will Mega Evolve into Mega Charizard X. It’s important to remember that Mega Charizard X is a Fire and Dragon-type after it Mega Evolves. This is the first fight where our opponent has six Pokémon, and it’s recommended that you also have a full team in order to take them down. This team focuses more on fast and heavy hitters, so you’ll need some Pokémon that are capable of taking a few hits.

Once Grisham has been defeated, you will reach Rank A, and Main Mission 35: Reaching Rank A will be complete.
