Battle Rules: You may not have duplicate Pokémon or duplicate held items. The item Soul Dew and the move Sky Drop are banned. Legendary or mythical Pokémon may not participate, either. For these battles, all Pokémon will be set to Level 50. Tournament: Type Expert Tournament is a tournament in which only Pokémon of a specific type can participate.

Type Expert Tournament (Japanese: タイプエキスパートトーナメント Type Expert Tournament) is a tournament held within the wider Pokémon World Tournament competition. Entry to this tournament is through the right-hand attendant. This tournament is unlocked by winning in the Kanto Leaders, Johto Leaders, Hoenn Leaders, Sinnoh Leaders, and Unova Leaders Tournaments.

Tournament description

"Type Expert Tournament is a tournament in which only Pokémon of a specific type can participate. For example, if you choose Fire-type Expert Tournament, only Fire-type Pokémon can participate. You'll need different Pokémon of the same type. Make sure no two Pokémon are holding the same item. The item Soul Dew and the move Sky Drop are banned. Legendary or mythical Pokémon may not participate, either. For these battles, all Pokémon will be set to Level 50. The winner will be rewarded with a little more BP than usual. Good luck!"

Entrants to this tournament will battle Trainers who are known to be experts within one particular type. Both the player and their opponents are restricted to using Pokémon of one specified type. The majority of participants are Gym Leaders, but due to the rarity of Poison-, Ground-, Psychic-, Bug-, Dragon-, Ghost-, and Steel-type Gym Leaders (as well as the complete lack of Dark-type Gym Leaders), a total of 10 Trainers who are not known to be Gym Leaders compete as well.

There are 56 participants in this tournament, 46 of whom are Gym Leaders.
