Talk:Goh's Pinsir
Notability
It has appeared in two episodes, besides the one it debuted in. While Goh didn't use it himself in its 2nd episode, but it itself actively took part and wasn't just in the background. In the newest episode, it had more than enough involvement to count as tangentially contributed. Based on these, it qualifies the notability criteria and has been approved for mainspace. Please let us know if you'd like to make any last minute changes, before it gets mainspaced. Thank you. Adil — Talk page 08:13, 17 August 2020 (UTC)
- I can't think of any changes at the moment, I take it Goh's Darmanitan isn't ready for mainspace then--BigDocFan (talk) 13:35, 17 August 2020 (UTC)
- Actually, that qualifies as well. G50 is not available right now, but I'll make sure to bring it up when she's up. Adil — Talk page 14:00, 17 August 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks, I'll hold off mainspacing the pages just in case you or another admin wish to do it--BigDocFan (talk) 14:12, 17 August 2020 (UTC)
- I have no issue with you moving them, but since the redirects will have to be deleted (and then restored) to make way for the moves, it'd be better if the staff does it. Once Darmanitan is approved, both can be moved together so that there's less of a hassle with linking. Adil — Talk page 14:19, 17 August 2020 (UTC)
- I'll leave if for admin to sort out, easier that way sorting out the redirects--BigDocFan (talk) 14:21, 17 August 2020 (UTC)
- Just want to keep you in the loop that Darmanitan has been approved. I'm a little busy at the moment, but I'll try to mainspace both some time before the weekend. Adil — Talk page 16:08, 18 August 2020 (UTC)

Pinsir’s gender?
Could Pinsir be a Female? It was shown to have a crush on Kricketina Kylie’s (later Goh’s) Heracross, which was shown to be a Male.

- Whilst it does seem likely, unless there is dialogue confirming it, it is currently speculation so isn't accepted--BigDocFan (talk) 21:46, 7 December 2020 (UTC)
- What about now, considering Heracross was confirmed to be Male in JN094?
Gallade User 16:12, 25 December 2021 (UTC)- Another Pokemon's gender being confirmed doesn't make Pinsir's gender confirmed. Pinsir's gender still needs to be explicitly stated.--ForceFire 16:27, 25 December 2021 (UTC)
- In JN094, the subs showing “she” for Pinsir. I don’t know if it’s true or false.--CoolPokéGuy (Talk) 09:37, 22 January 2022 (UTC)
- Don't go by subs. Subs often will take liberties.--ForceFire 09:47, 22 January 2022 (UTC)
- In one scene, Goh apparently calls Pinsir a girl. Could someone who knows Japanese verify that? Specifically, it's when Ash and Goh are watching over Pinsir at the park. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 13:02, 22 January 2022 (UTC)
- Force Fire is right, for some reason some-stuffs took a liberty this time despite there being no confirmation of its gender from Japanese staff- they had properly been using the "it" pronoun before. In this scene you mention, Goh talks of it as いいやつ which roughly translates as "a good guy", note that it's a gender neutral term. I honestly think it's male, as its most instinctive body language expressions are typical of male characters (JN033, when it was scared, it spread its limbs out exaggeratedly and walked backwards wide eyed, something rarely deployed for females in jp animation) not to mention it's voiced by male actors that aren't instructed to sound feminine. That and, in the Latin American dub, it's actually male. This dub being confirmedly supervised by TPC (dub directors do the voice castings under direct instructions from TPC representatives) makes it likely for it to be male. Justiceisover (talk) 04:00, 7 February 2022 (UTC)
- Here's the thing, though. The Latin American dub came from the English dub. Which is, of course, supervised by TPCi. Your argument is a circle and nothing more.Goyangi (talk) 13:50, 23 March 2023 (UTC)
- Being voiced by a male or female is indifferent to determine the gender of the Pokémon. The question of Pinsir's gender is pretty obvious what her gender is. In fact, the anime always has a way of making it clear when the Pokémon is female (Aipom, Buneary, Charla, Snivy and now Pinsir were all like this). But this always leads to long and exhausting discussions and leads nowhere, I could be wrong, but if I remember correctly they will only determine this when there is a confirmation situation like move Attract or similar.Hikaru Wazana (talk) 04:20, 7 February 2022 (UTC)
- >Completely ignoring that I mentioned it's officially male in a dub supervised by TPC
- I won't throw a tantrum if it ends up stated to be female, it's the attitude of establishing as "obvious" that it's female literally just because it shows feelings for a male character that is just wrong. Ever since the male Toxapex that crushed on James, this attitude became just plain heterosexist. Then again, it's fine to think it's female- it's just the "it obviously can only be female bc heracross". By the way, you misspelled the kana for the name on your userpage. Justiceisover (talk) 08:02, 7 February 2022 (UTC)
- The Latin American dub is a redub of the English dub, therefore that dub is irrelevant. Sorry, but redubs of the English dub should not count. Goyangi (talk) 01:08, 22 May 2023 (UTC)
- Friend, dubbing for dubbing, many times we can't even consider the American one. If in doubt, just see what they did with the duo from The Legend Of Thunder, or more recently the World Coronation Series itself, which the dubbing insisted on taking away the importance of the event. For all intents and purposes, the main thing is always the material from Japan, which has episodes, exclusive materials and almost a separate universe that doesn't arrive in the Western.

- So, for all intents and purposes, I can't see as something official something that's mentioned in the Andorra dubbing. Sorry. And the Toxapex incident mentioned by you, involved Mareanie and not James, I have to review that episode. And I'm not being heterosexist (whatever that is), I'm giving my opinion based on someone who's been following this anime since the beginning. And the anime always makes this explicit, and I'm not even talking about putting male or female on the page, personally. Personally, I'm indifferent to Pinsir's gender.
- Anyone who follows the discussions on this issue here knows how it works and how it ends.
- And about my nickname, yeah, I know it's wrong. I knew this when I made the page. I just didn't care to fix it.--Hikaru Wazana (talk) 13:20, 7 February 2022 (UTC)
Pinsir's Gender
I really think Pinsir is female. Yes, it's male in the Latin American dub, but the Latin American dub is a redub the English dub. Plus, Pinsir was confirmed female by Goh in the preview for JN094. Goyangi (talk) 00:53, 24 August 2023 (UTC)
