The Card Key (Japanese: カードキー Card Key) is a Key Item introduced in Generation II. It is used to open a locked shutter preventing access to the top of the Goldenrod Radio Tower.

Effect

If the player interacts with the locked shutter on the third floor of the Goldenrod Radio Tower while the Card Key is in the Bag, the shutter is permanently unlocked. This allows the player to climb to the top of the tower and battle Team Rocket's remaining Executives.

The Card Key cannot be used directly from the Bag. This item is usable only once, but using it does not consume it.
