Wooper (Japanese: ウパー Upah; German: Felino; French: Axoloto) is a Water/Ground-type Pokémon.
Pokédex entries
- Pokémon Gold
- This Pokémon lives in cold water. It will leave the water to search for food when it gets cold outside.
- Pokémon Emerald
- Wooper usually live in water but come out onto land seeking food occasionally. On land, they coat their bodies with a gooey, toxic film.
Name origin
Wooper's English name appears to be a corruption of its Japanese name, Upah. An upa is the Japanese term for the larval stage of the axolotl, a species of salamander.
Wooper seems to be based on a larval axoltl, which have flat tails and feathery, external gills.
