The ninth generation (Japanese: 第九世代 ninth generation) of Pokémon games is the ninth installment of the Pokémon video game series. The ninth generation will begin with Pokémon Scarlet and Violet in late 2022.

Generation IX was first revealed via a Pokémon Presents on February 27, 2022, which revealed Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

The starters of the ninth generation, like the starters of the previous eight regions, follow the Grass-Fire-Water trio, with the Grass-type Sprigatito, the Fire-type Fuecoco, and the Water-type Quaxly.
