Blue's Rhyperior (Japanese: グリーンドサイドン Green's Dosidon) is one of the Pokémon that Blue owns in the Pokémon Adventures manga.
Blue's Rhyperior (Japanese: グリーンのドサイドン Green's Dosidon) is a Pokémon that Blue owns in Pokémon Adventures and his eighth overall. Prior to the HeartGold & SoulSilver, he was traded to Silver, being returned to Blue prior to the X & Y. He is at level 82 and his Characteristic is that he is "proud of his power."

Rhydon first appeared as a wild Pokémon in Rock, Paper...Scizor, rampaging near the Viridian Gym along with an Alakazam, an Arcanine, and an Exeggutor due to the Pokémon League music that was being played in a radio. Seeing that the Pokémon needed to be stopped, Blue used his Blue to defeat the rampaging Pokémon, which he then caught, impressing the Pokémon Association so much that they decided to appoint him as the new Gym Leader of the Viridian Gym.

During the Gym Leader Exhibition match, where Blue faced his former mentor, Chuck, he decided to restrict his use of Pokémon to Rhydon only. At first, Rhydon faced Chuck's Machamp. Although Rhydon managed to hit Machamp with Horn Attack, it proved to be a part of Chuck's strategy, as he then hit Rhydon with Vital Throw, which has a 100% hit rate in exchange for a decreased priority. After this Chuck switched to Hitmonlee, which used Mind Reader to easily dodge all of Rhydon's attacks. Although Rhydon managed to eventually strike Hitmonlee, the hit was proven to be taken on purpose again, as the Kicking Pokémon then attacked the Drill Pokémon with Reversal, which became more powerful after Hitmonlee had been weakened. Chuck then once again switched his Pokémon, now sending out Hitmontop. Trying to seek an optimal moment to hit the opponent, Blue had Rhydon destabilize the ground with Earthquake. However, Hitmontop just took an advantage of the situation, escaping into the air before striking Rhydon with its head spike. When Hitmontop prepared for another strike, Blue recalled the lessons he had learned from Chuck, feeling the movements and connecting those feelings to his Pokémon. Using this as his advantage, Blue had Rhydon cancel out Hitmontop's spin and attack it with Horn Drill, defeating the Handstand Pokémon and winning the battle for Blue. After the battle, Blue revealed Chuck that he had chosen to use Rhydon alone because after being appointed as the Leader of the Viridian Gym, he had discovered a secret guide hidden in there, labeled Secrets of the Land and written by Giovanni, who had been a Ground specialist. Seeing that he was the new Leader of the Gym, Blue explained that he felt that he should decode the guide and master the techniques it described.

Chuck then switched Hitmonlee for Hitmontop, which greatly damaged Rhydon with his ability to attack multiple times while spinning. Eventually, Chuck had Hitmontop attack from the air by using his horn as a drill. Rhydon countered with his own Horn Drill and caused Hitmontop to slow down by reversing the rotation of his drill, leading to Hitmontop's defeat and Blue's victory. After the battle, Blue revealed he trained Rhydon to a high level with a book titled Secrets of the Earth, which was written by Giovanni, who had been a Ground specialist.

During the FireRed & LeafGreen, Blue used Rhydon in his Battle Path match against Red. Later Rhydon was used to defeat Orm, freeing Blue and his Pokémon from the grasps of the Shuckle that Orm's Shuckle had been commanding. Close to the end of the chapter, Rhydon was one of the Pokémon that was used to slow down the Team Rocket airship during its crash-landing. Afterwards, Blue revealed that the secret guide he had found could possibly describe a way to evolve Rhydon even further.
In The Last Battle IX, Blue had Rhydon dig a tunnel to Ilex Forest so that he and Red could help their allies confront the Masked Man. During the trip Rhydon had a quick battle against Koga and his Tentacruel, but it was stopped when Koga revealed he wasn't there to fight.

During the HeartGold & SoulSilver, it was revealed that in order to help Silver fill up his incomplete team, Blue had traded Rhydon over to him, allowing the Drill Pokémon to evolve into Rhyperior, thanks to the Evolution-inducing held item it had been holding.

In Double Dealing with Deoxys, Rhydon participated in Blue's battle against Red to determine which one would learn one of the ultimate moves from Ultima. With his Lightning Rod Ability, Rhydon redirected the Electric attacks fired by Pika to prevent them from hitting Blue, though the battle ended in a tie before he could play any further role.

Sometime before the X & Y, Silver returned Rhyperior to Blue.
In Don't Doubt Deoxys, Rhydon battled Orm and his Shuckle on Six Island. With his drills, Rhydon broke the horde of Shuckle Orm was using to keep Blue pinned down, and defeated Orm's Shuckle, which had been giving the horde orders.

In Right on Time, Rhydon, Rhydon helped to slow the descent of Team Rocket's airship to prevent its crash-landing into Vermilion City. However, ultimately, it was Mew who saved it. In Phew for Mew, Blue gave Silver Secrets of the Earth, telling him that the book suggested that Rhydon can evolve further and that the evolution involves trading. In Raising the Stakes with Rhyperior, it was revealed that Blue and Silver traded Pokémon. With the Protector he received from Silver, Rhydon evolved into a Rhyperior. Afterward, Blue then decided to give Rhyperior to Silver so that he may fill the missing slot in his party. Rhyperior was first seen with Silver battling Ariana on 38. With an Earth Plate-boosted Earth Power, he distracted Ariana long enough for Silver to escape and head to Ecruteak City to meet with Morty. When Silver arrived at the Ecruteak Gym, he was stopped by Falkner, Bugsy, and Chuck, who were protecting the Gym from suspicious people under Morty's request. Having no time to explain the situation, Silver battled the three Gym Leaders in order to force his way into the Gym. Chuck used his Hitmontop to battle Rhyperior, but the two Pokémon stopped when their drills collided, both realizing that they had fought each other in the past. After Silver explained who Rhyperior originally belonged to, Chuck decided to trust Silver and allowed him into the Gym.

In All About Arceus VIII, Rhyperior battled Pokémon of Myth (Adventures) to protect Silver's father. Silver then revealed that he decoded Giovanni's book, which allowed him to teach Rhyperior Rock Wrecker.

In Pinsir Glares, it was revealed that Blue took Rhyperior back from Silver in order to help him find Zygarde. Rhyperior was first seen helping Diantha emerge from underground, where she was put in order to escape the blast of the ultimate weapon. He, along with Blue, later led X's group to Anistar City. While doing so, they were admired by Rhyhorn and Salamè. After exiting 17, they left them and returned to Blue.

In Yveltal Steals, Rhyperior tried to help suppress Mewtwo's rage at the Pokémon Village alongside Charizard, Marisso, and Salamè. Despite their numbers, Mewtwo kept the advantage, easily knocking them away with Psywave.

Personality and characteristics
Rhyperior, like all of Blue's Pokémon, is serious and determined. He has a high amount of loyalty to his Trainer due to the amount of training he received and the care Blue gave him. Because of this training, Rhyperior is very powerful Pokémon and was the powerhouse of Silver's team when he was with him. Rhyperior has a tough exterior and can walk through magma of up to two thousand degrees without taking any damage. He has the ability to sense things underground, shown when he found a buried Diantha.

In the original Generation I Red and Blue and FireRed and LeafGreen, Blue uses a Rhydon in the Champion battle. He also uses the Rhydon in the Gym battle during the Generation II games and HeartGold and SoulSilver. Rhydon does not appear during rematches in the remakes, as in FireRed and LeafGreen, it is replaced by Tyranitar, and in HeartGold and SoulSilver, it has evolved into a Rhyperior by the time of the rematch.
* Rhyperior is Blue's only known Generation IV Pokémon.
* Rhyperior is Blue and Silver's only Pokémon that has been seen using his Ability.

Blue's Rhyperior (Japanese: グリーンのドサイドン Green's Dosidon) is a Pokémon that Blue owns in Pokémon Adventures and his eighth overall. Prior to the HeartGold & SoulSilver arc, he was traded to Silver, being returned to Blue prior to the X & Y arc. He is at level 82 and his Characteristic is that he is "proud of his power."

History

Gold, Silver & Crystal arc

As a Rhydon, with Blue

Rhyperior first appeared as a wild Rhydon in Rock, Paper...Scizor. He, along with an Alakazam, Arcanine, and Exeggutor, rampaged near Viridian City after being attracted by the sound of the Pokémon March being played by a Pokémon Association van's radio. Blue used his Scizor to defeat the rampaging Pokémon, which he then caught. The Pokémon Association were impressed so much that they decided to appoint him as the new Gym Leader of the Viridian Gym.

In Entranced by Entei, during the Gym Leader exhibition match at the Indigo Plateau, Blue faced his former mentor, Chuck. During this battle, Blue decided to only use Rhydon. Rhydon first went up against Chuck's Machamp, which let Rhydon hit first so that it could use Vital Throw, which always makes the user go last. Next, Chuck switched Machamp with his Hitmonlee, which used Mind Reader to dodge Rhydon's attacks. Rhydon managed to grab Hitmonlee's stretchy legs and attacked with Stomp, only to be countered with Reversal.

Rhydon battling Chuck's Hitmontop

Chuck then switched Hitmonlee for Hitmontop, which greatly damaged Rhydon with his ability to attack multiple times while spinning. Eventually, Chuck had Hitmontop attack from the air by using his horn as a drill. Rhydon countered with his own Horn Drill and caused Hitmontop to slow down by reversing the rotation of his drill, leading to Hitmontop's defeat and Blue's victory. After the battle, Blue revealed he trained Rhydon to a high level with a book titled Secrets of the Earth, which was written by the previous Viridian Gym Leader, who had been a Ground-type specialist.

FireRed & LeafGreen arc

Activating Lightning Rod as a Rhydon

In Double Dealing with Deoxys, Rhydon participated in Blue's battle against Red to determine which one would learn one of the ultimate moves from Ultima. With his Lightning Rod Ability, Rhydon redirected the Electric attacks fired by Pika to prevent them from hitting Machamp, though the battle ended in a tie before he could play any further role.

Since trading was Silver's specialty, Blue tasked Silver with discovering the process.

Emerald arc

In The Final Battle VII, Rhydon appeared alongside the rest of Blue's team when he was checking to make sure they all survived the petrification caused by Mewtwo and Darkrai.

HeartGold & SoulSilver arc

The Protector Rhydon used to evolve
Rhyperior while under Silver's ownership

In Raising the Stakes with Rhyperior, it was revealed that Blue and Silver traded Pokémon. With the Protector he received from Silver, Rhydon evolved into a Rhyperior. Afterward, Blue then decided to give Rhyperior to Silver so that he may fill the missing slot in his party. Rhyperior was first seen with Silver battling Ariana on Route 38.

In All About Arceus VIII, Rhyperior battled Giratina to protect Silver's father. Silver then revealed that he decoded Giovanni's book, which allowed him to teach Rhyperior Rock Wrecker.

X & Y arc

In Pinsir Glares, it was revealed that Blue took Rhyperior back from Silver in order to help him find Zygarde. Rhyperior was first seen helping Diantha emerge from underground, where she was put in order to escape the blast of the ultimate weapon. He, along with Charizard, later led X's group to Anistar City. While doing so, they were admired by Rhyrhy and Salamè. After exiting Route 17, they left them and returned to Blue.
