In the anime

Dugtrio first appeared in EP031. They working with Diglett to plant trees in a forest.

In EP114, Poncho used Diglett and Dugtrio to rid a town of Electrode. Poncho only used his Dugtrio against Team Rocket's evil machine.

Katie used a Dugtrio against Ash during the Hoenn League in AG128. Katie's Dugtrio defeated Ash's Pikachu and was defeated by Ash's Glalie.

  • Pokémon Snap: In the Tunnel, a Diglett is playing with a Pikachu. Take enough pictures of the Diglett, and a Dugtrio pops out of the ground instead. Take more pictures of the Dugtrio, and a trio of Dugtrio will pop out of the ground.

Name origin

Dugtrio's name is a combination of dug, the past tense of dig, and trio, meaning three.
