Sync pairs with reward bonus |
Pure Hearts and Rainbow Wings (Japanese: 正しき心に舞い降りる翼) was the fourth legendary event in Pokémon Masters EX. It was focused on the sync pair Silver and Ho-Oh. This pair could be teamed up with by completing the final story area of the event, A Pure Heart Revealed.
During this event, players could earn Prize Coins from battles that could be used to draw items from a prize box pool. If the grand prize was drawn from the prize box, players could advance to the next prize pool. Extra Prize Coins were automatically exchanged with coins once the event was finished.
This story was added to Legendary Adventures on on December 4, 2021.
First run
The event first ran from April 30 to May 14, 2020. In this run, there were five battles against Ho-Oh available from the start that the player could complete to earn Prize Coins. The grand prizes in the prize box included area info for event story areas, co-op sync orbs, 5★ Power-Ups, and a 5★ Strike Move Candy. In addition, custom items to unlock Silver and Ho-Oh's level cap, moves, and passive skills were available starting from the 5th prize box pool. Event missions rewarded players with Gems and co-op sync orbs for completing story areas and powering up Silver and Ho-Oh.
On May 7, 2020, three additional battles called "The Road to Greatness" were added to the event, available after completing the story areas. They were designed to showcase the Silver and Ho-Oh sync pair. These battles included 3★ and 4★ Strike Move Candies as first-time rewards and a variety of items for training sync pairs as completion and battle rewards.
During this run, players received Reward Boosts that could be activated before entering any battle area to triple the Battle Rewards obtained on victory. Players could have a maximum of three Reward Boosts available at any given time, with one Reward Boost being replenished every four hours. A Reward Boost Ticket could be used in place of a Reward Boost, should a player run out of stocked boosts.
Second run
The event reran from January 4 to February 8, 2021. In this run, the structure of the event was significantly altered. Rather than pulling area info from the prize box, players alternated between completing story areas and completing event battles until all area info for the event had been unlocked. An additional battle against Ho-Oh was added, but the "The Road to Greatness" battles did not return.
Instead of using generic Prize Coins to make pulls from the prize box, Fire-themed Legendary Prize Coins C were used. The grand prizes in the prize box included 3★ Level-Up Manuals, co-op sync orbs, 5★ Scout Tickets, and a Tech Move Candy Coin. As Silver and Ho-Oh could now be powered up using regular sync pair items, the prize pools no longer included custom items.
A 1★ medal was added as an event mission reward for completing the final story area of the event. The other event missions now awarded Gems and 3★ Level-Up Manuals, with their objectives changed to completing battle areas in the event a certain number of times.
An exchange shop was added where players could exchange Legendary Prize Coins C for additional copies and Custom ★ Power-Ups for Silver and Ho-Oh. If the player had already raised Silver and Ho-Oh to maximum potential, exchanges were available to convert their Custom ★ Power-Ups into 5★ Power-Ups or 3★ Power-Ups.
Third run
The event ran for a third time from May 18 to June 7, 2021. Silver and Ho-Oh's sync grid was expanded in conjunction with the event.
In this run, the overall structure was the same as the previous run. Legendary Prize Coins I could be used to make pulls from the prize box, and the grand prizes now included 3★ Level-Up Manuals, co-op sync orbs, 5★ Scout Tickets, Custom ★ Power-Ups for Silver and Ho-Oh, and a Strike Move Candy Coin.
The event missions were mostly the same as the previous run, but some missions had their objectives and rewards changed. Players could now receive three additional copies of Silver and Ho-Oh as rewards for leveling up the sync pair to certain levels, and a fourth additional copy for completing all other missions.
As additional copies of Silver and Ho-Oh and Custom ★ Power-Ups for the sync pair could now be obtained in other ways, the shop now contained only the exchanges where players could convert their Silver and Ho-Oh Custom ★ Power-Ups into 5★ Power-Ups or 3★ Power-Ups.
Fourth run
The event ran for a fourth and final time from October 16 to November 22, 2021. Legendary Prize Coins I were replaced with Legendary Prize Coins Q; everything else was the same as the previous run.
Plot
The event starts with Sawyer spotting Ho-Oh on Pasio, before it vanishes. Ethan and Silver battle in a field when they see Ho-Oh fly overhead. Ethan decides to follow it, and he has Silver recruit the player to join them.
The player meets up with Ethan and Silver, and Ethan formally introduces Silver to the player. Silver is skeptical that they would be able to track down Ho-Oh all over Pasio, but Ethan thinks of someone they can ask for information on the Legendary Pokémon and runs off, with the other two following. Meanwhile, a group of Team Break members plot to find and catch Ho-Oh.
Ethan looks for one of the Kimono Girls from Johto for information on Ho-Oh, and he spots Valerie talking to Lance. She explains that she is not one of the Kimono Girls, but she does know about Ho-Oh. She notes the tension between Silver and Lance before describing some of the legends about Ho-Oh, and she suggests that it might be found at high elevations, based on its history with the Bell Tower and Burned Tower. She also advises that Ho-Oh will only reveal itself to purehearted Trainers. Ethan is excited to climb one of Pasio's mountains to search, but Silver declines and leaves. That evening, Silver muses on the beach that Ho-Oh would never appear before him.
Lance joins Silver on the beach, and he remarks that Silver has changed since the first time they met; as evident by Silver's relationship with his Sneasel, he has learned to value Pokémon as more than tools for battle and to bond with them. Silver rejects this, remembering his history and bringing to mind his father, Giovanni. Lance replies that Silver should believe in himself and tells him to make sure to meet up with Ethan and the player the next day. In the morning, Ethan tells Valerie and the player that Silver always shows up where he is because they are rivals. Silver finally arrives, and when they hear Ho-Oh's cry, Ethan takes off with Valerie, while Silver teams up with the player to climb the mountain to search. Team Break follows behind the group.
Later in the day, Silver notes that they still have not seen Ho-Oh, though they keep hearing its cry. He tells the player Ethan's passion used to aggravate him, but not anymore. They hear Ho-Oh again, and it comes down the mountain path to confront them. Silver intends to challenge Ho-Oh, but he gets a call from Ethan, who tells him Team Break is chasing him and Valerie and asks Silver to come help. Silver is torn between forfeiting his chance to battle Ho-Oh and leaving Ethan to fend for himself. Ethan tries to hold off the Team Break members with his Cyndaquil, but when Team Break is about to rush them, Silver's Sneasel jumps in. Silver taunts Team Break for ganging up on Trainers.
Ethan and Silver take out the rest of Team Break's Pokémon together, but their leader calls in reinforcements. Silver declares that he will continue to fight all opponents with the Pokémon he has trained, as his goal is to be the world's greatest Trainer, and the rest of the group give their support. Team Break prepares to rush them, but Ho-Oh's arrival prompts them to switch their focus to it instead. Ho-Oh drives them off with its flames, and when it does not fly off afterwards, Ethan believes it wants to join with one of them. Silver separates from the group, not wanting to see Ho-Oh join one of the others, but when Ethan calls him back, Silver sees Ho-Oh approaching him. Silver reluctantly accepts Ethan's praise, and he approaches Ho-Oh to join as a sync pair.
